MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM-Chapter 245: Observation
Observation
Within a small world, a man sat at a table, his brows furrowed in concentration.
Opposite him, another man sat, he too seemed similarly deep in concentration. However, the difference between the two was that the latter seemed more relaxed than the former.
The two of them were unnaturally handsome, with the former having flaming orange hair and the latter with light green hair.
Their surroundings were peaceful, but anything but ordinary. The air was so clean that if a normal person from Earth were to inhale it, they'd be shocked to find out that any injuries and scars in their bodies would be healed, and their lifespan extended by a few decades with each breath.
Moreover, the air was saturated with incredible amounts of pure Mana, but that wasn't all either as there was a strange shimmer to the surrounding space. Anyone Adept enough with the laws of reality would recognize this as Authority.
"Reynold you sneaky bastard." The first man said with an annoyed grunt as he continued to look down at the table which had on it a chessboard. What was different about this chessboard, though, was the pieces.
Each piece was the conventional pawns, king, queen, rooks, etc. However, if one looked closely, they'd be shocked to find out that these pieces were made out of galaxies.
Now these weren't the manifestations of galaxies like one would find in attacks thrown by someone like Constella. No, these were real galaxies filled with trillions of real stars and even more planets housing an uncountable number of living beings.
The Milky Way galaxy is about 100,000 light years in size, and it's considered somewhat small compared to other galaxies. Yet here were these two people, calmly playing chess using pieces made up of multiple of such galaxies like it was nothing.
"Heh, bet you never saw that coming, did you Bertram?" Reynolds said with a cheeky grin, despite this though, his concentration never wavered. He knew that the slightest misstep could spell doom for him, and his carefully crafted trap could easily fall apart if he got complacent.
"Anyway, did you hear about the news with those little clans and the hidden realm?" Bertram asked as he finally made a move carefully.
Reynolds read this move and immediately started making calculations as he answered.
"Indeed, the hidden realm vanished along with all the people they sent inside, and those main clans are looking around like headless chickens due to their precious Scions going missing as well." Reynolds answered, his fingers moving a bit before making his next move.
"What do you think caused it?" Bertram asked as he didn't immediately make a move again.
"Hard to say, it isn't easy to move an entire Hidden Realm away. After all, its still considered its own pocket dimension. Just the spatial intricacies involved in doing something like that are quite high. I believe many were speculating that it could be an Arbiter, but I find it unlikely. Then again," Reynolds made his move and took out one of Bertram's pieces, causing the man to click his tongue and Reynold to chuckle. "If the rumors are true, then, it have a theory on who it could be."
At this, Bertram briefly looked up from the board before looking back down and asking. "That Christopher person?" He asked.
"Precisely." Reynolds nodded and his eye twitched when Bertram successfully took out another one of his pieces, still, he continued.
"I find it strange that the world which he inhabited before his great stunt happened to be within the same galaxy as the clans, and when he vanished, and entire Hidden Realm just happened to vanish not too long after the vanishing of that world. Not to mention," Reynolds didn't remove any of Bertram's pieces, but he made a move that put him in a tight spot. "It's strange how the hidden realm is also impossible to see through fate just like him and the world he was in. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's collecting them for something."
Bertram grunted as he realized he'd well and truly been trapped, and any move he made at this point would screw him over regardless of what he did, causing him to huff.
"Well, for someone to cause such a powerful ripple in the tapestry of fate, their agenda is gonna be hard to judge. I'm just surprised that the Unshaped, haven't done anything to punish him. As far as I'm aware, the KEEPER OF EQUILIBRIUM should have been pissed, so the fact he's been allowed to roam freely thus far is certainly interesting." Bertram said with a sigh and Reynolds gave him an exasperated look.
"What happened to us being unable to understand beings beyond our comprehension? If they haven't made a move yet then it means they are probably waiting for something, they didn't care, or they already have. Regardless, it's not our place to think about, simply because we can't." Bertram rolled his eyes.
"No need to get so snappy about it. Im just curious." Reynolds snorted.
"You and that curiosity of yours. Haven't you heard the saying? Cuiosity killed the cat?" Reynolds chimed but Bertram chuckled.
"Ah, of course I've heard it. But thats only part of it, the full saying is curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back." He retorted. The two of them bickered as if Bertram's curiosity hadn't been a point of contention thousands of times before.
"Okay okay, but on a serious note, if this Christopher person truly is an Arbiter and is the reason the hidden realm vanished, that means he's in an area under our jurisdiction. So what do you reckon? Do we wait for him to leave on his own or do we look for him?" Bertram asked and Reynolds tilted his head.
"I mean, finding him in the first place is going to be a hassle. I've tried to use my authority to find his position, but its like he doesn't even exist, yet he also does. There's a person shaped hole in the tapestry of fate, and I'm guessing thats why we can no longer view his past either." Reynolds explained and Bertram nodded.
"I experienced that as well. Well, I'm not a fan of having such a wild card in our territory. So how about we just have some measures in place. It might be unnecessary, and who knows, he might have already left?" Bertram stated his side and Reynolds shrugged.
"I don't mind. Though in the situation we DO get a hold of him, what do we even do with him? I mean, do we killed him?" Reynolds asked with a strange expression and Bertram just rolled his eyes.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there." Then unceremoniously, he flipped the table causing all the chess pieces to fly everywhere."
"Hey!" Reynolds barked as the pieces froze midair and the table returned to its previous state, the pieces and board following suit as they arranged themselves on the table exactly how they were before it gor flipped.
"We are gonna finish this game, no table flipping and fleeing for you." He snorted and Bertram groaned.
"Ugh, fine. Screw you." He huffed and returned to his seat.
