My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 59: Suspicious Men (1)
Chapter 59: Suspicious Men (1)
After Tan Pengtai said that, Feng Xiyan examined the metal boxes closely. Realizing the material was even better than his finest sword, his eyes flickered with thought.
’Could it be that Heaven truly intends to help me avenge my family and all the innocent killed by the Wen clan?’
While he was lost in thought, Fan Wanming opened one of the metal boxes and found hundreds of arrows inside.
Fan Wanming picked up one and inspected it closely, noticing subtle differences from the previous batch. Handing the arrow to Feng Xiyan, he said, "Great General, please take a look at this."
Feng Xiyan took the arrow and examined it carefully. After a moment, he said, "The design is slightly different from the last batch."
Fan Wanming nodded and added, "Yes. This subordinate has been hunting with my father since I was five, so I know a thing or two about bows and arrows. From what this subordinate can tell, this arrow is likely more powerful and accurate than the previous batch."
Feng Xiyan raised an eyebrow in interest at his brows. After a moment of thought, he gave an order. "Someone, bring my bow."
"Yes, Great General!"
Soon, a soldier returned with Feng Xiyan’s bow.
Taking it, Feng Xiyan loaded the arrow and aimed at a wooden fence over 200 meters away. Narrowing his eyes, he focused and released the arrow.
Swish~! Thud!
The sharp sound of impact echoed through the silent night. A soldier quickly ran over to inspect the target.
Upon seeing the arrowhead embedded deeply in the wood fence, his eyes widened in shock. He turned back and shouted, "The arrow pierced straight into the fence!"
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan and the generals exchanged glances of surprise, then approached the wooden fence together.
When they saw how deeply the arrow had struck, they were speechless.
"..." If the target is a human body, then it may be penetrated by the arrow.
After a long silence, Feng Xiyan said, "Move everything to the armory. Keep this news a secret. Anyone who leaks this information will be executed under military law."
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the generals and soldiers clasped their fists and replied in unison, "This subordinate accepts the order!"
While the generals and soldiers were busy moving the metal boxes, Feng Xiyan entered the tent and called, "Feng Yi."
A second later, Feng Yi appeared behind him and knelt on the ground. "Master, what are your instructions?"
Walking to the altar, Feng Xiyan opened the wooden box placed on top of it. After wrapping the bronze mirror in red silk cloth, he placed it back into the wooden box.
When he was done, Feng Xiyan closed the box and turned to Feng Yi.
"Bring this bronze mirror to the lake and have Feng Wu guard it while Fairy Bai sends the water," he instructed.
Feng Yi accepted the wooden box and said, "Yes, Master."
After receiving the order, he disappeared with the wooden box. Before long, he arrived by the lakeside and called out, "Feng Wu."
Two seconds later, Feng Wu appeared and clasped his fists. "Commander."
Feng Yi handed him the wooden box and said, "Master instructed you to guard this mirror while Fairy Bai sends the water."
Hearing this, Feng Wu recalled the taste of the food Bai Hanyun had given him and swallowed hard. Accepting the wooden box, he nodded and replied, "Don’t worry, Commander. I will personally guard this mirror."
Feng Yi nodded and then disappeared. After he left, dozens of masked men in black appeared around Feng Wu.
Seeing Feng Wu swallowing hard while staring at the wooden box, one of them curiously asked, "Captain, did Master reward us with food again?"
Feng Wu glanced at him and asked, "Are you still not full after eating dinner?"
The shadow guard scratched the back of his head and muttered, "How can you be full with only a steamed bun?"
Hearing this, Feng Wu looked down at his flat stomach and sighed. For big men like them, a single steamed bun was indeed far from enough.
While his subordinates’ stomachs were rumbling like thunder, Feng Wu opened the wooden box and took out the bronze mirror.
After placing it on top of a stone boulder, he said, "I will take the first watch."
"Yes, Captain," the others replied in unison.
Feng Wu waved his hand and then said, "Return to your posts and get some rest."
With his order, the others disappeared, leaving Feng Wu sitting beside the stone boulder, staring at the bronze mirror.
While Feng Wu waited patiently, Bai Hanyun and Hua Yuyu had just arrived home.
Getting out of the car, Bai Hanyun said, "Brother Hua, I’m going to sleep now. See you tomorrow."
Hua Yuyu nodded and drove the car into the garage.
After locking the main door, Bai Hanyun went to the backyard. She looked around and found a blind spot out of the surveillance cameras’ view. freёnovelkiss.com
Walking to that spot, Bai Hanyun took the antique mirror out of her backpack, tied it to a rope connected to a tree, and then dropped it into the river.
She stood there for a moment, watching as the mirror was sucking the river water, before returning to her bedroom.
At the same time, water gushed out from the bronze mirror by the lakeside in the other world.
Watching the river water slowly fill the lake, Feng Wu muttered, "Looks like I can only talk to Heaven tomorrow morning."
Leaning on the stone boulder, he looked up at the starry sky and rubbed his hungry stomach.
Closing his eyes, Feng Wu thought, ’I wonder what Heaven will bestow upon me tomorrow. Everything Heaven gave me before was so delicious. I hope I get more tomorrow.’
As Feng Wu reminisced about the taste of the food Bai Hanyun had given him, time passed slowly.
Several hours later, when the soldiers and civilians were fast asleep, three masked men were stealthily wandering around the city wall.
