Chapter 373 -363 Silver Hand

The Silver Hand Mercenary Corps had risen to prominence in the Yangtze River Delta region recently.

With over a thousand members and their own base, despite being only classified as a “small sanctuary,” the strength of the Silver Hand’s members, and their commander known as the Thunderbolt Sword Saint, made many wary.

Some major forces had their eyes on this emerging power.

“Commander Du, the people from the Octagonal Alliance have come again. They promise that as long as we join the Alliance, they will immediately provide us with thirty rune weapons.”

At the Corps headquarters, in the meeting hall.

Listening to the visitor’s words, B-grade follower and Silver Hand Deputy Commander, DuPont, did not turn around. “Do you think we should join the Octagonal Alliance?”

A young member, clad in beast skin and with a somewhat rough longsword made from Celestine hanging at his waist, shook his head.

“I know the style of the Octagonal Alliance too well. They have malicious intentions. If the Corps delays in accepting, it may provoke hostility from the Alliance. Moreover, thirty rune weapons is not a small number; some of our brothers below might be dissatisfied.”

“Those who want to leave shouldn’t be stopped. It’s all right as long as they don’t regret it.”

DuPont turned around, chuckled smugly showing his standard eight teeth. “Just thirty ordinary rune weapons. We will soon have many more.”

The young Silver Hand member was confused. novelbuddy.cσ๓

At that moment,

DuPont paused, joy apparent in his eyes, he turned to the young member beside him, “Gather the Knight Order, follow me.”

The wilderness.

The wind swept through, causing the dense weeds to sway and sand and stones to scatter.

DuPont held a black spear, seated atop a black beast larger than a motorcycle by two sizes.

The black beast galloped across the wasteland.

It resembled a dog, with its mouth slightly open revealing sharp teeth, dense black fur covering its body, and a long, black tail swinging as it occasionally let out loud “howls.”

Following DuPont, about twenty Awakeners, dressed in demonized beast fur, rode smaller black canine Mutant Beasts.

“Commander Du, you said headquarters sent someone? And they’ve brought us rune equipment?”

One of them asked, excitement palpable in his voice over the roaring wind, mixed with a hint of disbelief.

These twenty-some people, as members of the Silver Hand Knight Order, had touched the core of the Mercenary Corps.

Rumors about headquarters had circulated, but they had always thought it was just hearsay.

They never imagined that a headquarters truly existed and held formidable power.

They had a backing!

The Mounted Dog Squadron sped along.

DuPont pulled on the reins, slowing down the Mutant Dog, “It should be around here. Everyone keep an eye on the surroundings; they might not have arrived yet.”

The Knight Order members looked around. The area was overgrown with grass, and remnants of structures were visible with no signs of survivors’ activities.

“Commander Du, why didn’t the people from headquarters come directly to our station? It seems we are quite close to the border now.”

As they spoke, numerous demonized beasts sprang towards them.

Members of the Knight Order swiftly killed the attacking demonized beasts while riding their large black dogs.

“It’s just to avoid attracting too much attention,” said DuPont casually. “Why choose this place? Firstly, it is rarely visited by people, and secondly, it is close to the border… Yes, the people from headquarters are coming from the border.”

“Coming from the border?!”

Cries of surprise kept coming.

Seeing the astonished expressions of these young men, DuPont knew what they were thinking.

A sixth-level dangerous area, indeed, was a nearly life-threatening Forbidden Land; originally, it had taken five of them barely surviving multiple times, almost crushing their Return City Scrolls, to get through that region.

The safest route to the outer world was to take a boat, pass through the sea entrance, then sail along the coastline; these routes were also dangerous but were much safer compared to crossing a sixth-level Forbidden Land.

He didn’t go into detail, after all, he wasn’t clear himself; he merely mentioned lightly, “I heard they flew here, aboard a transportation method known as a Floating Airship, of course, I haven’t seen it myself, so keep a watchful eye around.”

Members of the Knight Order, no longer stunned, hurriedly widened their eyes, raised their heads, and scanned all around.

The sun was high in the sky, casting sunlight so intense it was hard to look directly at.

Suddenly, someone exclaimed, “What, what is that!”

Everyone followed the sound and looked.

Above in the sky, blue sky and white clouds stretched endlessly.

And at that moment, as if erased by an eraser, a revelation of a disguise, a Flying Boat over fifty meters long, inscribed with runes, large cannon ports on its wings, soaring in the sky…

Gradually appeared before their eyes.

Unable to help themselves, they rubbed their eyes, seeing it more clearly.

Continuously looking up, their necks had started to feel sore.

Some twenty-odd members of the Knight Order, however, kept their eyes fixed on it, unwilling to look away.

DuPont cursed under his breath, everyone was so shocked that they forgot to stay alert to their surroundings, yet he too raised his head, facing the dazzling sunshine, watching the Flying Boat soaring in the high sky.

A Floating Airship, truly inconceivable.

He had already received a message from the Lord, it was his first sighting, yet he was still immensely shocked.

The Floating Airship Sail lowered its speed and gradually descended to the ground.

Accompanied by a soft ‘boom’, the Floating Airship successfully landed.

The inner-layer Rune Shield was deactivated, the gangway had not yet been lowered, but Shay had already jumped straight down from the bow.

He landed heavily on the ground, creating a deep crater.

He patted the dust off himself and walked up nonchalantly, “Old Du, long time no see.”

The two of them embraced warmly.

Behind them,

Air Soldiers continuously flew out from the Floating Airship, descending to the ground, which made the core members of the Silver Hand stare with wide eyes once again.

And the black canine Mutant Beasts used as mounts by the Knight Order also amazed the Air Soldiers.

“These canine-type Mutant Beasts have the strength of Awakening Tier third layer—I ride one of the Fourth Layer, but they’re all too weak, and there are too few mounts,” DuPont paused and said, “Canine-type beasts, especially those domesticated or tamed before the apocalypse, are relatively easier to tame after mutation, but other types of Mutant Beasts are too hard to control. Our Knight Order has always been unable to scale up, and Commander Greta’s Combined Attack Skills can’t be fully utilized.”

His voice carried a tone of regret.

Without mounts, they could only perform combined attacks of ten or twenty people, but with mounts, a thousand-man corps charging in unison could even make someone at Awakening Tier Perfection seek temporary shelter from the onslaught.

Of course, although the Silver Hand had over a thousand members, only about two hundred were truly reliable, and fewer than thirty had mounts.

“Indeed, Mutant Beasts are difficult to tame,” Shay empathized, “In our Territory, we’ve only managed to tame the Mutated Elk so far; others, some have been imprisoned for a month or two, and still we cannot wear away their ferocity.”
