Her gaze drifted to the scenery outside, her thoughts elsewhere as they drew closer to a little cafe tucked in the corner of the town. She had insisted on finding a place close to Elion's mansion to avoid too much trouble.

"Here we are," the driver said, bringing the car to a smooth halt.

Raelynn turned to him, offering a polite smile. "Thank you. I'll make sure to bring you something to drink after this."

The driver nodded, his face blank but his eyes softening slightly at her gesture.

Raelynn and Zara climbed out of the car, greeted by the inviting aroma of fresh coffee as they headed toward the cafe. It was a charming little spot, with its wooden facade and cheerful flower boxes under each window.. The duo opted for a table close to the window, enjoying the way the soft sunlight highlighted the room.

Once seated, Raelynn ordered a decaf coffee for Zara and a chamomile tea for herself. The warm atmosphere of the cafe helped her relax as she began to recount everything that had unfolded since she met Elion at his office.

"It started the day I met him," Raelynn began, her hands cupping the warm tea. "I told him everything—the situation, the pregnancy—everything."

Zara leaned forward, her eyes wide with curiosity. "And he didn't just laugh you off or call you crazy?"

Raelynn shook her head. "Obviously, he is. But once he saw the proof, he couldn't deny it. Honestly, Zara, I never thought it would turn out like this."

She went on, talking about the madness of her new life in Elion's home, her interactions with Sloane, and the tension with Elion.. Zara listened intently, her expression morphing from surprise to disbelief and back again.

When Raelynn finally paused, Zara's mouth fell open, her brow furrowed as she stared at her best friend. "Hold on," she said, holding up a hand as if to stop Raelynn from saying more. "Let me process this."

Raelynn watched as Zara's expression shifted, her lips pursed in thought. "Do you need something to drink?" Raelynn asked, pushing Zara's decaf coffee toward her.

Zara nodded, picking up the cup and taking a long sip. After a moment, she set it down and let out a low whistle. "Wow. I can't believe my best friend is living with Elion Vaelorian. Do you know how crazy that sounds?"

Raelynn chuckled softly. "I know. I can't believe it either. And the fact that he actually wants to raise the baby? That's even more unbelievable."

Zara leaned back in her chair, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Maybe he's barren," she said bluntly. "Think about it. What if he can't father a child under normal circumstances? Then you come along, and bam—pregnant. He's probably not going to waste the chance to have an heir. Who knows if his... uh, stuff will work on another woman?"

Raelynn's cheeks flushed, and she ducked her head, fiddling with the edge of her sleeve. "Yeah, probably something like that," she muttered, taking a sip of her tea.

In truth, she knew Zara's speculation wasn't entirely accurate. Sloane had confirmed that Elion was indeed barren. But somehow, she couldn't bring herself to share that detail with Zara. It felt too personal, too sensitive, even for their open friendship.

Zara leaned forward again, her tone shifting to something more serious. "Okay, so what's your plan? After the baby's born, I mean. Are you just going to hand it over to him and leave?"

Raelynn blinked, caught off guard by the question. "I… I don't know," she admitted, her voice soft. "The baby hasn't even been born yet. I haven't thought that far ahead. Right now, I'm just worried about whether I can even do this. What if it hurts too much? What if I can't handle it?"

Zara reached across the table and placed a comforting hand over Raelynn's. "You can do it," she said firmly. "If you can get pregnant, you can give birth. There's no way out of it now. Just scream your head off when the time comes—I'll be outside, cheering you on."

Raelynn shot her a dry look, her lips curving into a wry smile. "Thanks, Zara. That's really comforting."

The sarcasm in her tone wasn't lost on Zara, who laughed and squeezed her hand. "You know I've got your back. Always."

Raelynn smiled, the knot of anxiety in her chest loosening slightly. She was grateful for Zara's support, even if her best friend's sense of humor was occasionally questionable.

Back at Elion's place, the mood was tense and far from cheerful.

Elion stood in the center of the grand hall, his presence dominating the space. He clenched his teeth, his hands curling tightly into fists.. The usual cool, composed demeanor he carried was nowhere to be seen. Instead, his eyes burned with fury as he glared at Hera, who stood before him looking visibly shaken.

"She left?" Elion's voice was low, dangerous. "Without informing anyone?"

Hera nodded, her head bowed in submission. "I… I'm sorry, my lord. I didn't realize she—"

"You didn't realize?" Elion snapped, his tone sharp enough to cut through stone. "How could you not realize? You were supposed to keep an eye on her."

Hera flinched, her hands trembling as she clasped them in front of her. "It won't happen again. I promise—"

"It better not happen again," Elion growled, his voice cutting through the silence.

Sloane stepped into the room, her expression calm but her eyes sparkling with humor. "Elion, relax. She just went out with her friend. Nothing's going to happen."

Elion turned to her, his gaze still blazing. "That's not the point. She left without informing anyone. She's carrying my child. If anything happens to her—"

"Nothing will happen," Sloane cur in. "She's with the driver. She'll be back soon."

Elion didn't look convinced. He dragged a hand through his hair, his irritation clear as day "Hera," he said sharply. "Call the driver. Find out where they are. If you don't get an answer, there will be consequences."

"Yes, my lord," Hera stammered before hurrying away to carry out his order.

Resting against the banister, Sloane crossed her arms and gave him a questioning look. "You're seriously worked up over this, aren't you?"

Elion shot her a glare but said nothing, his jaw tightening in suppressed anger.
