My Husband Is a Million Years Old Vampire-Chapter 110
Chapter 110: Chapter 110
Her finger hesitated over the dial button, but she had no other option. She pressed it.
The line barely rang twice before he picked up.
"Valentina?" His voice was clear, firm—but there was a hint of surprise.
"Valentina?" His voice was steady but sharp. "What’s going on? Are you tired? Where are you? Can’t you drive?"
At that moment Valentina exhaled slowly, already exhausted.
"Slow down, Raymond. You’re too anxious for a human being."
His silence stretched for a second. He could tell—just from the way she spoke—that something wasn’t right.
Immediately his voice dropped lower.
"Is everything the matter?"
There it was. That rare concern laced into his usually unbothered tone.
Valentina swallowed, gripping the phone tightly. She hesitated, but there was no point in hiding it.
"I’m stuck," she admitted.
"The price they showed me before we ate was different from what they brought to me now. The bill is ridiculously high, and I don’t have that kind of money to pay."
At that moment Raymond’s expression darkened instantly. His grip on the phone tightened as he processed Valentina’s words.
"Somebody had the audacity to trick my wife like this?" His voice was dangerously low, filled with restrained anger.
Valentina remained silent, unsure how to respond.
"The situation would be dealt with immediately," he said, his tone leaving no room for doubt.
"You don’t have to worry about a thing."
She hesitated.
"Raymond—"
"Valentina," he cut her off smoothly, his voice firm but calm. "Go sit down. In few minute, someone will come and settle this."
She could hear the certainty in his voice, the quiet authority that made it impossible to question him. freewebnøvel.com
"You sound so sure," she murmured, still trying to process how he could be this confident.
Raymond let out a short, dry chuckle.
"Have I ever disappointed you before?"
She exhaled softly, staring down at the phone in her hand.
"Go sit down," he repeated.
"Just wait. Somebody is coming."
Hearing Raymond’s words, Valentina still felt a bit skeptical. She didn’t quite understand how he was going to handle the situation so quickly, but since he told her to relax and sit down, she decided to trust him. Raymond had never failed her before. Even in situations where she thought he might, he always came through. There was no reason to doubt him now.
So, she took a deep breath, composed herself, and returned to her seat.
At that moment Hudson and Camille, exchanged glances when they saw her calm demeanor. She wasn’t panicking, nor was she giving in to their suggestion of using the company’s funds. This wasn’t what they expected.
Feeling a bit unsettled, they walked closer to her, lowering their voices to maintain the pretense of concern.
"Director," Camille started, her tone deceptively kind, "we really should just settle this now. The restaurant won’t let us leave without payment, and honestly, it’s not a big deal. You can use the company’s funds first and just refill it later."
"Yes," Hudson added, nodding eagerly.
"Time is going, and we’re sure some people here are already noticing the delay."
At that moment, Valentina raised a hand, cutting them off mid-sentence.
"Go and sit down," she said firmly, her voice steady and unwavering. "Somebody is coming to resolve this issue. Don’t worry about it."
Upon hearing what Valentina just said.
Hudson and Camille exchanged glances, their unease growing. This wasn’t the reaction they had anticipated.
The waiter, however, was visibly confused. His brows furrowed as he studied Valentina’s composed expression.
"What do you mean someone is coming to resolve the issue?"he questioned, his skepticism evident. "I already told you, the highest authority after the manager is me. Who exactly are you waiting for?"
Valentina didn’t respond. She simply leaned back in her chair, her arms crossed, looking completely unbothered.
The waiter, feeling the pressure of time ticking away, exhaled sharply in frustration.
"Listen, you need to pay now,"he insisted. "Time is running out, and I have other important guests arriving soon. This table is reserved, and they will be using it. If you don’t settle the bill now and start leaving, they’ll walk in and see... whatever this is."
Hearing that, Hudson and Camille tensed. They hesitated, then stepped closer to Valentina again.
"Director you heard what he just said," Camille whispered, her voice laced with urgency.
"Other clients are coming. If they walk in and see all this, it’s going to be humiliating."
Hudson nodded in agreement, his eyes darting anxiously around the room. "It’ll be a disaster if Sterling Design gets publicly embarrassed over something as trivial as a bill."
At that moment Valentina shook her head calmly.
"No problem," she said, her voice carrying an air of certainty. "I heard what you said, and it’s none of my concern right now. Someone is coming to resolve this issue. You should go sit down and wait."
Then the waiter exhaled sharply, barely able to contain his frustration.
"Fine," he spat. "Since this is what you want, I’ll wait. But just so you know, I’m not going to sit here forever."
With that, he angrily pulled out a chair and sat down, his arms crossed, tapping his fingers against the table impatiently.
At that moment time ticked by. Five minutes. Ten minutes. Fifteen minutes.
Nothing, The atmosphere grew tense, the weight of silence pressing down on the room.
Then the waiter suddenly stood up. "Fifteen minutes have passed," he announced, his voice sharp. "And still, nobody has arrived. That means your time is up."
Then his eyes bore into Valentina.
"Since you refuse to pay, I will have to take this matter to the appropriate authorities. I’ll be submitting a petition to the board."
Immediately gasps rippled through the workers.
The senior employees who had attended countless team dinners before exchanged baffled glances. Never—not once—had something like this ever happened.
Their director. Their new director.
Refusing to pay? The whispers started again. Disbelief and confusion filled the air.
"What’s going on?" one murmured.
"This has never happened before..." another whispered.
Hudson and Camille remained silent, but their expressions said everything—they were enjoying this.
Just as the waiter opened his mouth to say something else, the restaurant doors burst open with a sudden force.
Immediately Everyone turned, startled, then a heavy silence fell over the room.
It was the restaurant’s manager.
And he wasn’t alone.
Four massive bodyguards, towering and intimidating, followed him in. Their presence alone was enough to make the entire room feel suffocating.
