My Husband Is a Million Years Old Vampire-Chapter 69
Chapter 69: Chapter 69
At that moment Raymond reached over and gently tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. His touch was soft, reassuring.
"I’m not going to be spending this kind of money all the time," he assured her. "I just... I knew you wanted it. And I made a promise to your mother. More than that, I made a promise to myself—to always give you the best."
His voice was steady, conviction dripping from every word.
Valentina stared at him, her lips parting slightly, but no words came out. She could see it in his eyes—he meant what he said. Every word of it.
But still, forty million Dollars was just too much, knowing what she would be able to do with such money, she couldn’t just get her head around it, her business mindset wouldn’t just forget and accept.
She crossed her arms, letting out a heavy breath.
"I still don’t like it," she muttered, looking away.
Raymond chuckled.
"Noted."
However Valentina wasn’t letting this go. her expression sharp as she turned fully toward Raymond again.
"Fine. You got the necklace. You kept your promise. But there’s one thing I still don’t understand," she said, her voice laced with suspicion. "How did you even pay for it?"
Raymond smirked, keeping one hand on the wheel as he leaned back into his seat.
"You heard them, didn’t you?" he said casually.
"They kept whispering about the 35 million limit."
"Exactly!" Valentina snapped.
"I heard it! The entire hall was talking about it. Thirty Five million is the max anyone can transfer at once! So how—" She narrowed her eyes. "How did you do it?"
Raymond let out a quiet chuckle. "You worry too much."
"Raymond." Her voice was firm, demanding an answer.
He exhaled through his nose, amused.
"Alright, alright," he said, glancing at her.
"The reason I could do it is because my company has a partnership with a bank. And not just any bank. A bank that has been around for a very long time."
Valentina blinked.
"A bank?"
Raymond nodded. "It was my father’s partnership bank for his business. Actually, it was his card I used."
Her lips parted slightly, stunned. "Your father’s bank?" she echoed.
He nodded.
"I’ve been using it ever since I got here. Since I took over my family’s companies and properties. The bank was kind enough to upgrade my card because..." He smirked, glancing at her.
"Because what?" Valentina pressed, already feeling like she was about to regret asking.
"Because I’ve never used that much money in a single transaction before ever since the account was opened," he finished, amusement dancing in his voice.
At that moment Valentina let out a deep breath, still struggling to process everything. She leaned back against the car seat, her arms crossed tightly over her chest.
"So you’re telling me," she muttered, her tone laced with frustration, "that all those J12 guys and the other top families—they spend that kind of money all the time?"
Raymond nodded, his grip on the steering wheel firm.
"Exactly. Their cards have a fixed spending limit because they’re constantly making high transactions. But me?" He let out a quiet chuckle.
"I’ve never spent this much before. Not even close. That’s why there was no restriction."
Valentina frowned, biting her lower lip. The explanation made sense. She had heard of something like this before. Banks adjusting limits based on past spending habits, ensuring only the wealthiest could move such insane amounts. But still...
Her chest tightened, Forty million dollars.
She turned her head slightly, staring at Raymond’s calm expression.
"It still doesn’t sit right with me," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath.
Raymond glanced at her, one brow raised.
"Why?"
Valentina sighed, rubbing her temples.
"Because that’s too much money, Raymond. I know you wanted to keep your promise. I know you wanted to do this for me. But..." Her voice cracked slightly. "I just—I don’t feel good about it."
She clenched her fists on her lap, her heart heavy. She should be happy. She got her mother’s necklace back. And yet... the price.
Raymond exhaled softly, he didn’t argue. He didn’t try to justify it further. He just let her sit in silence, lost in her thoughts.
Because no matter what explanation he gave...She was still sad.
Valentina then exhaled slowly, still trying to shake the past, and made her herself to see reason to justify such amounts on a necklace, but her mind was still trapped inside that auction room, replaying everything that had just happened.
Then she turned to Raymond, her brows furrowing. "I don’t like it," she admitted again, her voice quiet but firm. "Spending that kind of money on a necklace, no matter how much it means to me, feels wrong."
However Raymond didn’t interrupt. He simply waited, watching her with that calm, patient expression of his.
"But..." She hesitated, biting her lip.
"I know you really wanted to do this. And because of that, because it was for my mother..." She took a deep breath.
"I’ll accept it."
Raymond smiled faintly, his fingers gently tracing over the back of her hand.
"Thank you for everything," she whispered, her voice carrying something deeper—something more vulnerable. "I don’t think I ever told you this, but... I don’t know what would have happened to me if you didn’t come into my life when you did."
Raymond didn’t need to ask what she meant. He knew.
Instead of answering, he leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her forehead.
"Everything will be fine," he murmured. "I made a promise to you, Valentina. And I’m going to keep it. You don’t have to worry—not even for a second."
At that moment She closed her eyes for a brief moment, letting his words settle in her chest. But then—
Her eyes suddenly snapped open.
Something clicked in her memory.
"The card," she said abruptly, turning to face him fully. "The red card you used to get us inside."
Raymond quirked a brow, amused by the sudden shift in topic.
"How did you even get that card?"
