Chapter 74: Chapter 74

At the mention of GSK, the atmosphere in the room shifted.

Raymond’s father leaned forward slightly, his interest now fully piqued. GSK wasn’t just any corporation. It was a powerhouse, controlling numerous industries, and getting a deal with even one of its investment firms meant influence, resources, and long-term benefits.

However the so call company belongs to Raymond.

However he knows he needed to pretend as if he was shocked.

Valentina noticed the shift and pressed on.

"I know how to make it happen. I just need the opportunity to prove myself. Give me the chance, and I’ll bring it to your company instead."

Raymond, who had been quiet all this time, finally spoke. His voice was calm but firm. "She can do it," he said simply, his unwavering confidence in her words

His father remained silent for a long moment before exhaling slowly, his sharp eyes still locked onto Valentina.

"You want to prove yourself?" he asked.

Valentina nodded once.

"Yes."

Seeing Raymond interfered in conversation, he know it was signal for him to agree.

Then exhaled through his nose, a small, almost amused smile tugging at his lips. His gaze drifted from Valentina to Raymond before he finally spoke.

"Valentina," he said, his voice calm but firm. "I must admit, it’s interesting that you called this meeting yourself. You do know that as my son’s wife, you didn’t have to go through all this formality. Any decision regarding your position in the company should have come through Raymond."

He let his words settle for a moment before leaning back in his chair, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest again.

"However, the fact that you went through the effort to speak to me directly tells me something—you truly want this."

Valentina nodded, her expression unwavering. "I do. I wouldn’t have asked otherwise."

Raymond’s father studied her for a moment longer before finally nodding. "Very well, then. I heard that a position just recently opened up at Sterling Designs—one of our subsidiaries specializing in interior architecture and high-end home designs."

At the mention of Sterling Designs, Raymond’s mother raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. It wasn’t just any branch of the company. It catered to the most elite clients, handling multimillion-dollar projects.

"The previous director recently stepped down, leaving the position open," Raymond’s father continued. His gaze flickered back to Valentina. "Since you’re truly interested in proving yourself, I’ll make sure you get that position. Prove to me you deserve it."

Upon hearing what Benjamin just said.

Valentina’s eyes widened in shock. She blinked a few times, trying to process what she had just heard.

"Wait... No, no, no," she shook her head, her hands instinctively gripping the edge of the table.

"I wasn’t asking for that. I wasn’t asking for the director position."

Her heartbeat quickened as she tried to explain herself.

"I was just asking for a team manager role or something lower, something I can handle. I need to prove myself first. I can’t just—"

Raymond’s father cut her off with a casual wave of his hand, his expression unwavering.

"It doesn’t matter. You’re in this family now, and that’s all that matters."

Valentina swallowed hard, her gaze flickering to Raymond, who sat there silently, watching the conversation unfold.

"But I haven’t proven myself," she insisted, her voice laced with uncertainty. "Why would you trust me this quickly?"

At that moment Raymond’s father leaned forward slightly, his expression calm but firm.

"Because you’re my daughter-in-law. That alone is proof enough."

Raymond’s father leaned back slightly, his tone unwavering. "Raymond trusts you. I trust you. Since you want to prove your capabilities, this position will give you that chance. I have no doubt you’ll do a great job, so why should I hesitate?"

Immediately Valentina’s lips parted in disbelief. She stared at him, her heart pounding, as his words sank in. ’He’s giving me this chance... just like that?’

Her fingers curled slightly against her lap, a sudden warmth spreading in her chest. She had expected resistance, maybe skepticism, but instead, she was being handed an opportunity she had longed for. One that would finally allow her to break free from the suffocating shadow of her past.

She took a deep breath, her voice slightly unsteady from excitement. "Thank you. Thank you so much," she whispered, her eyes gleaming.

For the first time in a long while, she felt like she was stepping into her own power. No longer just Valentina, the discarded daughter. No longer just Raymond’s wife. With this opportunity, she would carve her own path. And soon enough, everyone would know—Valentina was back.

Overcome with happiness, she turned to Raymond, her emotions getting the best of her.

Without thinking, she threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

However Raymond didn’t say a word. He simply smiled, his hand resting gently on her back.

Raymond’s mother watched with a warm smile, her eyes filled with quiet satisfaction.

"This—this is what I had been hoping to see. Not forced interactions, not stiff politeness, but something real. A moment where both of you wouldn’t just be two people in a marriage of convenience, but a couple."

Valentina, lost in her excitement, hadn’t even realized she was still holding onto Raymond. Her heart was still racing, the joy of finally stepping into her own space, of having a chance to prove herself, overwhelming her senses. But then, awareness crept in.

Her body stiffened slightly. I’m still holding him...

She let out a small breath, preparing to pull away. But she hesitated. For some reason, she couldn’t quite bring herself to do it just yet.

Raymond, standing calmly with that ever-composed demeanor, glanced down at her. Then, with an almost teasing glint in his eyes, he said, "Congratulations, Director Valentina."

His voice was smooth, carrying the weight of both sincerity and amusement.

At that moment Valentina felt her face heat up, and finally—she stepped back, clearing her throat. "I didn’t say you not to call me that," she muttered, trying to suppress the smile tugging at her lips.

Raymond only chuckled in response, his gaze steady on her.
