My Mansion of Gorgeous Maids in Another World-Chapter 25: Contest
Chapter 25: Contest
[You have shown your character through the dance.]
[You have mastered the ballroom dance.]
[You have been rewarded with the Mansion Carriage Function.]
A week of waltzes was about to give way to swords and spells.
It had been a week since Jett’s first ballroom lesson. With Mia’s leg hooked against his hip, he locked eyes with her shimmering gaze and knew she understood the feelings he had tried to convey. The system confirmed it, and even Noctlisa must have glimpsed that same truth—though whatever the dullahan maid thought remained a mystery for another day.
"Guess I’m at least average now the quest’s done," he said, releasing Mia’s thigh and stepping back to give her room.
She shook her head. "No, Master Jett stands well above average. Your dance displayed your character in full."
Does that mean I need a brand‑new finale? I can tell I’m getting too close at the end... or maybe that closeness is the point. In any case, I doubt I’ll dance with any other men—obviously I won’t.
Noctlisa strode over and handed him a damp towel. He thanked her, wiped the sweat from his face, then returned the towel.
The past week has been nothing but ballroom practice, mana refinement with my maids, and history lessons. With the dance checked off, it’s time I saw what my maids can do in a fight.
[You have received a new quest.]
[Organize a combat contest between Mia Leafie and Noctlisa Eveshade.]
[Reward: The Summoning Chamber shall open to the Warden Master, and the adequate magic circle within it shall be activated.]
I’m done commenting on the system’s antics. I just hope the Mansion and the System aren’t actually alive. Still, a Summoning Chamber sounds useful. If the reward depends on who wins, even better.
He faced the two maids. "Eat and rest, then meet me outside in an hour."
The order thrilled them. Mia and Noctlisa bowed as deeply as their spines allowed, then hurried toward the kitchen with permission to take whatever food and drink they pleased. Jett declined a meal for himself but told them to bring snacks.
On the way, the maids did not remain silent—or pretend the other was invisible.
"Master Jett surely has something grand in mind." Mia cradled her flushed cheeks, voice lilting with delight. "His commands bring me such joy. He grows more splendid with each passing day—his dance left me breathless and yearning for more. I tremble in anticipation of his next desire!"
"Master must’ve nabbed a fresh quest," Noctlisa grunted, respectful yet blunt.
Mia’s smile brightened. "Then it is bound to be marvelous, Noctlisa! Master Jett is watched over so carefully..."
"Aye."
After a quick shower, meal, and brief rest, they rejoined Jett in the Rainbow Pond Garden—a vast courtyard centered on a seemingly bottomless pond where rainbow‑hued lilies drifted with the breeze, their sweet fragrance hanging in the humid air while cool moss cushioned every step. One side of the water was framed by a tall, moss‑covered limestone wall; towering trees cast cool shadows over the marble paths and the blossoms’ vivid colors.
"Welcome back," Jett said around a bite of popcorn chicken.
Four Dark Ink Steeds stood behind him, their hooves planted in a bed of their favorite dark hay.
"We stand ready, Master Jett," Mia said, bowing with a smile that outshone the lilies.
"At your call, Master—ready to crack skulls if that’s what you want," Noctlisa echoed.
"I want to see your combat abilities," he announced with a smirk. "You’ll fight each other—one round, five minutes. Winner takes the Summoning Chamber’s adequate reward."
Both maids’ eyes widened.
The Summoning Chamber?! The Elf Bimbo’s thoughts raced. Master will unlock it soon—he might call his home again, perhaps even introduce me to his parents! But what is the adequate reward? Anything but a trip to the Elven Forest... too early for that!
The Summoning Chamber will please Master, The Dullahan Latina mused. Maybe I could call Father and tell him I’ve been granted the Shadow Weaver. That could be the reward.
With so much at stake, Jett knew he had motivated them properly. He popped another snack into his mouth while the tension thickened. Even the Dark Ink Steeds lost their appetite under the maids’ charged stares.
The elf and the dullahan moved to opposite edges of the pond. Though the distance was considerable, their gazes locked as if they stood toe‑to‑toe, each already plotting how to defeat the other. The pond fell silent.
After a few heavy breaths, Noctlisa moved first. She cocked her head until a slit opened at her neck, an obsidian void from which the Shadow Weaver’s hilt slid forth. Her small hand wrapped around the grip; then she drew the blade entirely from the darkness and set her stance, both hands firm on the cross‑guard.
Jett leaned forward on his bench. "I always wondered where she kept that sword—inside her neck?!"
The Four Dark Ink Steeds eyed him as if to say, Really, Master? You didn’t know that about dullahans?
Across the pond, Mia pressed her slender legs together and raised her arms like an orchestra conductor. She rooted herself to the ground, tilted her head back in cool disdain, and sent a silent tide of mana rolling out, laying claim to the garden.
Jett popped another snack. "She’s up to something, guys. I felt that mana swell. My elf’s gonna seize this garden for sure."
The Four Dark Ink Steeds narrowed their eyes: You don’t say, Master.
Even without knowing Mia’s titles, anyone could see she was an elf entwined with nature, so claiming the garden was a given. The real question was how she’d turn that domain to her advantage—and how Noctlisa would close the gap to bring that greatsword down on her. That puzzle kept Jett and the horses glued to their seats.
Jett grinned at his second maid. "Noctlisa’ll just barrel straight in, huh? So..."
When Noctlisa made her second move—just as Jett had imagined—his smile deepened and he rubbed his hands together. "Alrighty, let’s call every move."
The Dark Ink Steeds whinnied. Now we’re talking, Master!
