Chapter 206: 206. Perfect Couple

Meanwhile...

Adrian was living large—or at least pretending to.

He’d been spending tournament prize money like a nobleman’s runaway son, strutting through the bustling market district with the confidence of someone who thought taxes were a myth. Eventually, he sauntered into the most expensive restaurant he could find, sat at the plushest seat available, and ordered the priciest item on the menu like it was a happy meal.

They brought him Crispy Belly of the Sunflame: a dish so rare it was said to come from a mythical celestial fire boar that only lived in volcanoes and high-mana zones. The meat glistened with seared edges and as he took one bite, he practically melted into the chair. Mana from the meat surged through his veins like warm honey, making every cell in his body buzz with delight.

There were only two small, golden-brown pieces on the plate. Two. For five gold coins. The kind of money a normal citizen would work two months to earn. But here he was, eating it like it was a late-night snack. And as he chewed luxuriously, people stared at him, especially the girls.

It wasn’t just the food that made them gawk. His plate hadn’t been brought out by a mere male waiter. No. A stunning, hourglass-figured waitress with glossy hair and a voice like velvet had served it herself.

After his last bite, he dabbed his mouth with a fine handkerchief like he was royalty, then leaned back in his chair like he owned the place.

The waitress swooped in. "Was the meal to your satisfaction, sir? May I bring you anything else?"

He picked at a piece of meat between his teeth with exaggerated leisure. "Not bad. I’ll take a glass of your finest wine."

"Right away, sir." She bowed—and he shamelessly ogled the bounce of her chest as she did.

Being rich is a blessing, he thought, grinning like a pervert. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined a woman bowing before him without legal intervention. He adjusted his glasses and flipped his silky purple hair back dramatically.

Across the room, whispers started brewing like gossip tea.

"He’s so cool..."

"He’s gotta be an A-rank hunter!"

"No way a powerless man could afford Sunflame meat!"

"I’m crushing hard!" ƒreewebɳovel.com

Adrian tried to look humble, failing miserably as his smug grin grew wider. Sure, he’d blown through most of his prize money in two days, but this? This was worth it.

The wine arrived, and he sipped it like a noble lord before pulling out his new advanced magic gadget he blew twenty gold coins on at Genzai innovations. It had no buttons like his orevious gadget. Just finger-touch activated. It could capture high-resolution images with terrifying clarity. Perfect for a degenerate like him. He cradled it like a treasure, his imagination running wild with tomorrow’s school perv-plans. He’d take pictures of girl’s panties and gawk at them however he wanted. The thought made him surge with pervy instincts.

Until he heard a familiar growl.

"Huh? Four Eyes?"

He froze and turned.

There stood Sharon, arms folded, eyes narrow, and scowl on her face.

"What are you doing in a place like this?" she asked, voice low and accusing as she dropped into the seat across from him like she’d just caught him shoplifting.

"Shazzy!" he beamed, ignoring the death glare. "How fancy seeing you here!"

"Why are you even sitting here like you own the place, drinking expensive wine?"

Adrian laughed nervously. "Haha... just... treating myself a little."

The waitress approached Sharon like she was royalty too. "Good evening, ma’am. What can I get for you?"

Sharon had won a hefty sum from betting on her brother during the tournament, and today, her stress needed therapy—in the form of indulgence.

"The most expensive dish you have," she said with a flick of her wrist, eyes locked on Adrian.

When the waitress returned moments later with another plate of the ultra-rare Sunflame belly, the watching girls gasped.

"Is that his fiancée?!"

"Has to be! No way anyone else could casually order that dish!"

"I’m dying. They look so rich... and cute together."

Adrian laughed awkwardly. Sharon, however, looked like she wanted to stab him with her fork.

"Wow," she said flatly. "Now you have admirers. Maybe I should move to another table before someone gets the wrong idea."

Adrian held her wrist gently. "No, please stay. I... kinda like having you here more than being alone."

Sharon blinked. That sounded... genuine.

"...Fine," she muttered, taking a bite. Her eyes widened. "Holy crap. This is amazing. I should come here with my brother sometime!"

Adrian had gone quiet. He was just circling the rim of his glass with a finger before suddenly scooting back and walking over to her side.

Then—he dropped to one knee.

Her eyes snapped wide. "Ey—what the hell are you doing?" she hissed. "Get up! People are staring!"

Adrian gently took her hands in his and bowed his head. "I... I’ve been meaning to apologize, Sharon. For a while now." He swallowed hard. "I know I acted like a complete jerk back then. I should’ve come to you sooner, but... I was scared you wouldn’t even want to see my face. I’m sorry—for that night during the mixer. I was drunk and stupid when I banged on your door. I never meant to—"

"Oh. That?" Sharon cut in quickly. "Forget it. I didn’t dwell on it. Just... stand up, will you? People are staring."

Adrian blinked, lifting his head. She... wasn’t mad? Not even a little? The weight that had been pressing down on his chest for weeks felt like it cracked apart, scattering into the air.

He’d been terrified—terrified that he’d done something unforgivable. That he’d crossed a line with the one person he never wanted to hurt.

But here she was. Telling him to forget it. Not scolding him. Not hating him.

His throat tightened, and his vision blurred.

Before he could stop himself, tears welled in his eyes. Literal tears. He jumped to his feet and hugged her.

"T-thank you, Shazzy! I really thought I screwed everything up!"

Sharon snarled. "You’re causing a scene, idiot."

"Was that a proposal?"

"So romantic!"

"If that guy doesn’t mind having a harem, l volunteer as second wife!"

"They’re a perfect, couple though."

Sharon stood up abruptly, cheeks burning. "I’m leaving."

Adrian downed the rest of his wine and followed her out, to the sound of people clapping.

"That was beautiful!"

"Come back anytime!"

"Discounts for the lovebirds!"

Sharon stormed out. Adrian trailed behind her, barely holding in his laughter.

"You really stirred up the whole restaurant," she growled.

"I didn’t mean to!" he snorted. "But hey, it was fun! They thought we were a couple."

"As if I’d fall for a scrawny brat like you."

Adrian clutched his chest dramatically. "Ouch! Right in the heart!"

"You deserved it." But she cracked a smile.

And for a moment, Sharon forgot about the ache in her chest. The ache that came whenever she thought of Asher and Anna getting married soon and the bitter truth that her dearest brother was no longer hers—not even in dreams. Her heart still throbbed when the thought returned, but at least for these brief, silly moments with Adrian, the pain had been silent.

"Hey, Four Eyes," she said, softer now. "Wanna walk to the park?"

Adrian practically snapped to attention. "I’d be honored, m’lady—"

She frowned.

"Uh—I mean, Shazzy!"

She laughed. "That’s better. Barely."

And side by side, they walked together.
