Chapter 104: Hiding

"Here you go, pretty lady. Two sundaes with the works. Enjoy!"

"Thank you! We will!"

Chiara Alvestra happily took the two oversized sundaes and brought them to their table. She kept humming and swaying her head side to side in bliss. Her husband, Lucian, watched the surroundings deep in thought.

What the hell is this place? Civilians rarely left the Dawn tier, even war veterans. How can each shop afford Radiant-tiered Breakers as staff?

It is unsettling if you think about it. Although they were weak by Elian’s standards, common thieves, even armed terrorists, would die pointlessly here. While almost everyone had talents, not everyone had what it took to be breakers.

To gain levels, people needed to kill beings with mana—either monsters or breakers. Even if one butchered thousands of Dawn-tiered humans, it would not be enough to enter the Radiant rank.

"Darling, each sundae costs 100,000 crowns. Rather than waste your time worrying about such matters, why not focus on more important things?" Bianca remarked with a giggle.

Elian grimaced. A hundred thousand crowns—enough to feed a family for a year—and she spent it on ice cream. But when he remembered how much money his lover had, his common sense began to warp.

"Sigh. Aren’t you too into this, Chiara darling?"

Darling. Even the word felt weird. As they wanted to remain hidden in plain sight, Bianca forbade them from using their real names. They were to use Chiara and Lucian, or darling as a safe alternative. Using thoughts or telepathy was the only exception.

"Nonsense, how can one remain unmoved by such a work of art?" Bianca’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at her sundae. With gusto, she took a spoonful and ate it. Her face grew slack with happiness, and kicked her feet, "Mmhmm! So good!"

In excitement, she grabbed another spoonful and offered it to Elian.

"Darling! Here! Taste it! NOW!"

"Chiara, I can’t taste anything, remember? It’s a waste."

"EAT!"

Finding her innocence adorable, Elian tasted the 100,000 sundae. And sadly, apart from the chill and the soft, fluffy texture, he couldn’t appreciate anything else. But when he saw Bianca’s expectant face, he felt the need to lie.

After swallowing, he smiled and said the words she wanted to hear: "It was good."

"Right? It’s been ages since I tasted anything so divine! What about everyone else? Does anyone want to have a taste?"

Ignoring the reactions of those around her, Bianca offered her expensive sundae to the "pets" traveling with them. All four rejected it for various reasons, but mostly they weren’t comfortable eating with enemies so close.

Despite the peaceful scenery, they were in enemy territory. They were passing time here for two reasons. One was to wait for Silas to do his work, and the other was that they were waiting for somebody.

"You are all no fun!" Bianca pouted; she took another spoonful and sulked, "Why are you all so worried about, anyway? With Lucian here, just who could harm me?"

They were eating at one of the high-end ice cream places on the same street as the bank. Although this place was outdoors, there were hardly any people as this entire area was a playground for the top 1%.

"System, Scan."

Sigh. The priest is so weak. Bianca would be stronger as a ghost.

Elian could only smile wryly. As Bianca was currently possessing a crusader’s body, their party was more edge than usual. In exchange for becoming truly human, Bianca could no longer teleport, hide, or avoid physical attacks.

The crusader’s body cannot even use all her mana. Frankly, I have no idea why she would even want to risk possessing such a weak body anyway.

When Bianca noticed him studying her, she came closer. "Really? Are you curious?"

While she moved like Bianca, the face the body wore was a stranger’s, Elian absentmindedly caressed the witch’s cheek and murmured, "I am. Such a shame. Compared to before, you are no longer as beautiful."

"Darling, it is quite rude to call a woman ugly to her face," Bianca snapped.

Elian chuckled at how carefree his lover was. But though he knew it was her driving this puppet, he felt conflicted about giving his affection to another.

"Chiara, do you trust me?" he asked abruptly.

As the words left his mouth, a grim feeling welled up in his heart. Elian wanted to retract what he had said immediately.

What am I even doing? Bianca’s happiness comes first, not my own preferences.

But before he could open his mouth, Bianca gripped his hand and placed it on her cheek.

"With my everything," she whispered. Her eyes bore into Elian’s, not even wavering in the slightest. With a smile, she added, "Do as you wish, my husband."

In the beginning, he just wanted to understand her. Now? Elian knew Bianca Valestra very well. She was someone who had been isolated, betrayed, and left for dead. She never spoke to comfort egos or protect pride.

Thus, he knew—those words were real.

Losing his reservations, he had parts of his Dominator Variant leave his fingers. Despite how creepy it looked, Bianca closed her eyes and waited without a single complaint.

They gently entered Bianca’s skin and began to change parts of her face. Sculpting the face of the former crusader, within seconds it transformed into the face of his lover. The one he saw in the Red Ant Dungeon and the one he adored.

When it finished, Bianca opened her eyes and smiled, "Such a clingy Tyrant. You cannot even bear to see me with a different face? We are supposed to be hiding, you know?"

"Ah crap."

Forgetting that they were technically trying to stay hidden, Elian immediately regretted his impulsiveness. But Bianca got up from her seat. Not minding the onlookers, she then slowly climbed into his lap, legs folding over his like a throne.

Pressing her body against Elian’s, she whispered in glee.

"Well, this is good too. I haven’t played hide-and-seek with the System for a while."

"Hide and seek?" Elian asked, dumbfounded.

"Erasing myself from all records as I live in this city. It’s quite fun. CCTV, nanomachine records, digital footprints. I once did it out of necessity but have gotten so good that it has turned into a game instead."

"I see."

"I find it a chore when I get bored of it. But now that you’re here, it feels exciting to play around while trying not to get caught."

"I-I uhm..."

Seeing his stammering, Bianca kissed Elian’s neck and licked his skin. Like lightning, it sent shivers across Elian’s body. He felt as if he were in danger.

She wasn’t heavy, but rather soft and pleasant. Even her sweat intoxicated him. Between her warmth, her kisses, and that voice, Elian knew he was a lost cause. Despite wanting to resist, Bianca already owned him.

Obvious to his thoughts, the witch grabbed both sides of his face and murmured.

"To make it fair, change yours back too, darling." She then kissed him softly. "This face is cute, but I like the original one better."

"Uhm, but what about hiding? And we’re in public."

She chuckled, "How cute! Let me worry about everything else."

"Okay."

He reverted his face to the original, mature Elian Reed.

"Good. Much better. To answer your question, I possess this body for one reason alone. And that is so I can adore you."

She smiled and kissed him—hungry, unrelenting. Compared to a soul-body, the real thing was heat and breath and bliss. Passionate like a fire, more intoxicating than any perfume, he enjoyed every facet of Bianca’s affection.

The two of them forgot about their 100,000 crown sundaes and made out. In the few moments when they sought each other, they forgot about everything else.

It was only when the Weapons around them got up that they were forced to stop.

"Oh, he looks strong! Dibs!"

"Whisper, please be quiet. Daughter, son-in-law. I think it’s the contact."

"There are more than two; I see others of his pack scattered all around. They all have the same scent."

"Sir Bastion, there is another group to the left. Should I burn them?"

Amidst the conversation of their guards, Bianca pulled away. Her advances left Elian breathless. Her eyes were glassy, and she bit her lip in excitement. But she gave Elian one last peck before whispering.

"Time’s up. Such a shame," Bianca giggled. She quickly got off Elian in a good mood.

Meanwhile, Elian felt angry, bitter even. It felt like someone dangled a luscious fruit in front of him, but it was taken away before he could enjoy it. His rage began to build.

He couldn’t help but grip his fingers in anger. With a glare, his eyes followed Bianca’s figure. She sat back and turned to the men who had just arrived. They were quite handsome, wore impeccable suits, and a pair of shades. One blond, the other a brunet.

Why did you have to come here, you bastards?

She turned and smiled—not the smug smile she gave strangers, but the one that said she knew what he was feeling and loved it anyway.

"Elian, we called them, remember?"

At Bianca’s words, he felt himself wake up from his stupor.

Right, these are the crow guys. Crap, I lost my head for a moment.

Maybe it was because he was unsuited to the surroundings, but Elian felt uncomfortable. A few weeks ago, he was the one who teased Bianca. Now everything flipped, and she toyed with him instead.

The two men bowed to Bianca. "We greet Lady Winter." Then they turned to Elian and got on one knee, "Congratulations on becoming the fourth Candidate, Lord Reed."

Ugh, so they know my name and that I am the fourth Tyrant Candidate. So much for hiding.
