Chapter 53 - Judging eyes (1)

His age can be considered young, as he is only eighteen and still a high school student at one of the elite schools. For someone his age, he can be described as a teenager. Although young and not legally considered an adult, he is already married and will soon become a father.

Whether it is an achievement or the most significant milestone in his life, it is certainly something to be proud of for someone his age. His marriage was recently conducted through a Shinto religious ceremony. Still, it has not yet been registered at the civil registry office to make the marriage legally recognized by the state.

There was no deep consideration for the young man named Renji Ishikawa, who boldly took the step to marry a 25-year-old woman named Aira Hoshino at 18. Their ages are seven years apart, with his wife being older than him, but that is not an issue or obstacle for them, especially since they are soon to welcome their child, the result of an accidental one-night stand.

Marrying at a young age is often seen as immature, both mentally and psychologically. Although it does not violate any rules, many people think that marrying young is equivalent to recklessness. In terms of age, most young couples are not ready regarding mental maturity or financial stability.

Renji has never regretted marrying young, nor does he consider Aira a destroyer or an obstacle to his future. For Renji, being with Aira is the future he has always wanted. Renji will endure no matter how heavy the problems come his way, even though sometimes fatigue settles in his heart.

For example, Renji feels exhausted both physically and emotionally today. His body is sore and needs a massage to relax his muscles, as he has been running around since morning, dealing with various matters that have drained his mind and caused him some stress. Problems keep coming one after another as if they will never end. Suppose it's not his grandfather causing trouble. In that case, it's Raiden stirring up issues, and even the woman named Maki adds to the chaos, making his head spin.

Can't people just let him live peacefully with his small family? He doesn't want to make enemies, even though he has had many in the past due to his work and business.

The atmosphere in the car is quiet, and the scenery outside isn't bad enough to kill boredom. Usually, he would call or exchange messages with his wife. Still, the current situation doesn't allow it, as her phone has been temporarily confiscated.

The three men, each with different hairstyles and colours, are busy with tasks. Fujita is focused on driving, and Takamaru is busy talking on the phone. At the same time, Renji can only daydream as he looks out the car window.

"Takamaru, is everything settled?" Renji asked after Takamaru finished his phone call.

Takamaru, sitting next to Fujita, slightly tilted his body to the side. "It's done as you requested, but the school I contacted was shocked and didn't expect this. They asked for time to investigate on their own."

"There's clear evidence, yet they still want to deny it. No matter who their parents are, I'm not afraid. As students, they should know how to behave and speak politely. They shouldn't casually insult and judge others without knowing the truth," Renji said, staring out the car window.

"I understand how you feel, but given the current situation, there might be some commotion because of your actions," Takamaru commented, feeling that Renji's actions were too rash.

"An eye for an eye, blood for blood. Don't you know well who I am, Takamaru Nara?" he said coldly, staring straight at Takamaru.

"Of course, I still remember our first meeting vividly. It was so memorable that it almost cost me my life," he recalled, thinking back to an incident some time ago, long before he became Renji's lawyer.

"But my sword didn't slash your neck, did it?" Renji teased.

"If I hadn't taken a step back at that time, my head might have been severed, and now I'd just be a memory," Takamaru insisted, treating the incident as a joke, even though it had nearly cost him his life.

"I would have visited your grave often and prayed for you," Renji replied as if Takamaru were dead.

Takamaru looked at Renji, tired and sad, "Are you wishing for my death?"

"No. It's just that every living creature will eventually die. Death is inevitable; you can't refuse or prevent it when it's your time to be called by God," Renji said, his gaze cold and piercing.

"Your attitude and way of thinking are so mature for someone your age. No wonder so many girls are crazy about you," Takamaru praised him. "Sometimes I even go crazy because of their reckless actions," he added.

Takamaru chuckled softly while shaking his head slowly, while Fujita smiled faintly, being a loyal listener.

People say that Renji Ishikawa is so perfect that it makes many envious, but their thoughts are entirely wrong. At his core, Renji is just an ordinary person, but his life story is different. His handsome looks and wealth are inherited from his parents. If he hadn't been born as an Ishikawa but as a child from another family, his life might not have been as complicated and heavy as it is now, even though he lives in abundance.

At a glance, he might seem perfect in the eyes of others. If this were a story, he would undoubtedly be the main character—a flawless, handsome man with no shortcomings. But in reality, he has his flaws. For example, he is afraid and disgusted by any caterpillar, and his body reflexively feels itchy just by seeing one.

All this time, Renji has only tried to do everything to the best of his ability, always striving to give his best. That may be why people have formed their judgments, seeing him as the perfect man.

"Fujita, before we head home, can we stop by a bakery for a moment?" Renji's face looked tired and slightly dishevelled.

Fujita glanced at him through the rearview mirror and asked, "Are you buying something?"

Renji let out a quick sigh, closed his eyes briefly, and then looked ahead listlessly. "I want to buy my wife's favourite cinnamon roll."

"Of course, young master," Fujita replied faintly.

Since morning, Aira has been confined to the house, not allowed to step outside, even a single step, without strict supervision. Even her phone was confiscated by Keiko, with the excuse that phone radiation could affect the growth and development of the baby in her womb. Fortunately, Aira believed Keiko's words without suspicion, especially since it was all for her child's well-being.

After lunch, Aira prepared to go to her prenatal exercise class at a maternity hospital, accompanied by Keiko and several well-dressed guards.

Aira wore clothes that she found comfortable, ensuring they wouldn't restrict her movement during the exercises. She has been following this routine for the past few months, based on her personal doctor's recommendation, as long as she feels comfortable doing it and there are no issues with her health or pregnancy.

Prenatal exercises' main purpose is to help prepare the body for childbirth. They also help boost energy, alleviate various pregnancy discomforts, and improve sleep quality.

Pregnancy can quickly tire the body, often making you want to lie down and relax on the sofa. However, not being physically active during pregnancy can make the body less fit and complicate the delivery process. Regular exercise can help strengthen the body's muscles in preparation for childbirth.

During prenatal exercises, movements and breathing techniques are prioritized to prepare the body for labour. These exercises increase oxygen and blood flow to the muscles. Regular prenatal exercises have many benefits, one of which is alleviating pain, discomfort, and other pregnancy-related issues.

Usually, Fujita drops Aira off at her prenatal class and stays until it ends. Afterward, he heads to Asahi Café to check on things, chat with Saki or Rika, and discuss various topics—often gossiping about anything they find interesting. Saki, in particular, never runs out of gossip material, earning her the fitting title of "the gossip queen."

During the prenatal class, nothing suspicious happened, and everything went smoothly until the session ended.

"Can we stop by somewhere? I want to eat ice cream," Aira pleaded with Keiko.

"Mr. Renji instructed that after the prenatal class, we are not to stop anywhere," Keiko refused, as she had been given strict orders.

"Please, just for a moment. I want to eat ice cream," Aira's eyes welled up as she looked at Keiko.

"Alright, but after we finish the ice cream, we go straight home," Keiko sighed, relenting as she melted at Aira's sad, puppy-like expression.

Keiko instructed the driver to head to Asahi Café, thinking it was a safe and comfortable place for Aira. Unbeknownst to her, the café was a dangerous battleground, with many enemies waiting for Aira's arrival. Without realizing the peril, Keiko kindly escorted Aira there.

In this situation, Keiko cannot be entirely blamed, as Renji did not explain the details—he only instructed that Aira should not leave the house and that her phone should be confiscated.

Saki hugged Aira as soon as she saw her arrive at the café. Her face looked like she was about to cry, leaving her confused.

Aside from Saki's slightly odd behaviour, the café patrons acted strangely. Aira felt as though everyone in the café was staring at her with various expressions. Still, the most dominant one was a mix of hatred and envy.

Keiko noticed the customers' impolite and threatening behaviour and immediately asked Saki to seat Aira quickly, as she couldn't stand for too long.

As per Aira's earlier request for ice cream, Saki served her a large glass topped with fruit. Despite the autumn and chilly weather, Aira insisted on eating ice cream, even though a hot chocolate or latte would have been more seasonally appropriate.

Keiko stood beside Aira, watching their surroundings closely without letting her guard down for even a second. Her presence nearby deterred bystanders from approaching or giving insulting glances. Keiko's icy, piercing stare conveyed a very well-taken message: she was dangerous, and anyone attempting to cause trouble or harm to Aira would be expensive.
