Chapter 75: Draconic Pact

This time, Whitestone completely lost his patience! He slammed the table and stood up, glaring at Ethan with fury.

"Looks like you’re not here to do business sincerely—you’re just here to stir up trouble, aren’t you?"

He paused for a moment, then sneered coldly.

"If that’s the case, then the Scarlet Legion will gladly accept your challenge! But the question is... do you dare?"

The entire room fell into dead silence.

Everyone held their breath, eyes darting between Ethan and Whitestone, filled with shock and confusion. Clearly, aside from Isabella and Nightfall, no one had expected things to escalate like this...

It was obvious to anyone paying attention—Ethan was deliberately provoking Whitestone.

But why?

As an envoy of the Scarlet Legion, Whitestone represented not just himself, but the entire guild’s reputation.

And on top of that, he was a top-tier player.

Maybe calling him one of the top ten in the Scarlet Legion was a bit of an exaggeration, but he was definitely in the top twenty. Not to mention, he had an insane background.

The Sterling Group—a corporate giant known not just nationwide, but worldwide.

And yet, Ethan was picking a fight with him, seemingly for no reason at all.

Why?!

Just then, Ethan suddenly chuckled and looked Whitestone straight in the eye.

"You really think the Scarlet Legion can scare me?"

Whitestone’s expression darkened. His voice turned ice-cold.

"Try me and find out."

"Alright, if that’s what you want."

The moment Ethan finished speaking, he sent a forced PK request to Whitestone.

Forced PK system!

That meant double the death penalty! No matter who lost—whether it was Whitestone or Ethan—at minimum, they’d both be losing at least two levels worth of experience!

"You... You actually dared?!"

The second the system notification popped up, Whitestone’s pupils shrank, and his face twisted in shock.

He never expected Ethan to actually go through with it!

And what made his heart sink even further—

Ethan had a Tier 10 unit, the Thunderbird. novelbuddy.cσ๓

And Whitestone?

He didn’t have a single Tier 10 unit!

After Ethan finished speaking, he casually snapped his fingers.

"BOOM!"

"SCREECH!"

In an instant, thunder roared through the room!

A dazzling, golden Thunderbird appeared before everyone’s eyes, diving straight at Whitestone.

At the same time, crackling with electricity, the Thunderbird’s razor-sharp talons slashed viciously toward him!

BANG!

A deafening impact shook the room!

Whitestone was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing hard into the conference room wall. The force of the collision was so intense that the entire room collapsed with a thunderous crash, kicking up a thick cloud of dust and debris that obscured everyone’s vision.

But then—

A streak of blue light shot out from the dust cloud, soaring into the sky!

It was a Tier 9 Genie, fleeing at full speed—desperately trying to escape!

And clinging onto its shoulder, bloodied and in complete disarray, was none other than Whitestone!

"You think you can just run?"

Ethan chuckled.

He didn’t even need to give the order—his Tier 10 Thunderbird had already taken off, streaking through the sky like a bolt of golden lightning, chasing down the fleeing Tier 9 Genie.

And its speed?

At least twice as fast.

Seeing this, Whitestone’s face turned deathly pale.

Like he had just seen the devil himself.

His voice trembled as he shouted, "Y-You... do you even realize what you’re doing?! Stop right now! If you actually kill me, the Sterling Group and the Scarlet Legion will never let you go!"

For top players, the worst thing that could happen was losing their high-tier units.

The second worst? Losing levels.

Whitestone was currently level 33. Gaining just one level took over a year—sometimes even several years.

But losing levels?

That happened in an instant.

And with the forced PK system, the death penalty was two levels.

Losing two whole levels in one go?

That was like having his bones shattered and a huge chunk of flesh ripped off at the same time.

The consequences were unbearable.

But unfortunately for him—his feelings didn’t matter.

Ethan didn’t even acknowledge his threats.

He wasn’t interested in wasting words.

"BOOM!"

"SCREECH!"

In mere moments, the Tier 10 Thunderbird caught up to the fleeing Whitestone.

With a single, devastating slash—

It instantly killed the Tier 9 Genie.

"W-What?!"

"A one-shot kill?!"

The entire room was stunned.

Everyone stared, wide-eyed, in absolute disbelief.

Even with a Tier 10 vs. Tier 9, an instant kill like that shouldn’t have been possible!

"No... No way... This can’t be real!"

Whitestone was terrified. His face was ashen, his entire worldview shattered.

He wasn’t an idiot—he wouldn’t have made it this far if he was.

The moment he saw his Tier 9 Genie get one-shot by Ethan’s Tier 10 Thunderbird, a horrifying realization hit him like a truck—

Ethan’s hero level... was probably way higher than his.

And not just by a little.

At that moment—

The Thunderbird let out a piercing screech, diving once more toward Whitestone, who was now free-falling through the sky.

BANG!

A single, brutal strike—

Whitestone exploded on impact, turning into a flash of white light—

Gone.

"SCREECH!"

The Thunderbird let out a triumphant cry, then gracefully circled back toward the Nocturnal Crescent guild headquarters.

It landed before Ethan, bowing its head respectfully.

Ethan reached out, patted its head, and smiled.

"Nicely done."

But aside from Ethan himself, everyone else in the room was completely frozen in shock.

They stood there, stiff as statues—

Faces filled with horror and disbelief.

Their eyes trembled as they looked at Ethan, unable to process what had just happened.

That was Whitestone.

A top-tier powerhouse of the Scarlet Legion. A core figure of the Sterling Group, a corporate giant.

For most people, forget attacking him—just getting the chance to flatter him would already be a privilege.

And now?

Now, the mighty Whitestone had been utterly crushed by Ethan in just a few moves...

This...

Silence.

The entire room was dead quiet.

It wasn’t until a long while later that William finally swallowed hard and forced out a question.

"Ethan, you... what exactly are you—?"

Before Ethan could answer, Isabella cut in first.

"Dad, how long were you planning to keep this from us? Or were you just waiting for Uncle Nightfall to spill the truth?"

William blinked in confusion.

Then, as realization dawned, he turned to Nightfall, his expression shifting between shock and uncertainty.

"Wait... don’t tell me... you told Ethan about that?"

Nightfall looked a little awkward, as if he wanted to explain—

But Ethan spoke up first.

"Mr. Carter, you really should’ve told me about this," Ethan said with a calm smile. "Not because of anything else, but because when it comes to Draconic Pact’s business, we sell to whoever we want. No one gets to interfere."

"And I sure as hell won’t tolerate anyone trying to pull underhanded tricks behind my back."

He paused for a moment, then added in a cold, matter-of-fact tone—

"So, since he dared to try—he had to pay the price."

William fell silent.

After a long pause, he let out a deep sigh and said sincerely,

"Ethan... thank you."

He knew full well—

Ethan didn’t have to do this.

The only reason he did... was because of them.

After another brief hesitation, William’s expression turned worried.

"Ethan, you killed Whitestone and made him lose two levels. The Sterling Group—even the Scarlet Legion—they won’t just let this go."

Ethan’s eyes flashed with a sharp glint.

"They won’t let it go?" He scoffed. "If they don’t give Draconic Pact a proper explanation for this, I’m the one who won’t let them go."

The entire room gasped.

Everyone stared at Ethan in pure shock.

"Ethan, you... you’re not seriously thinking of—" William’s voice faltered, his words stumbling as if his entire worldview had just been shattered.

That was the Sterling Group.

That was the Scarlet Legion.

And Ethan was really planning to go head-to-head with them over this?!

"Mr. Carter, let the Scarlet Legion know—they have three days to give me an explanation for this."

Ethan’s voice was calm, almost indifferent.

"If they don’t... then there’s no need for further discussion. I’ll send people to deal with them directly."

With that, he grabbed Isabella—who still looked completely bewildered—and turned to leave.

Leaving behind William and the rest of the Nocturnal Crescent leadership, all of whom stood there, stunned into silence.

For a long moment, no one spoke.

Then—

The room exploded.

Like a bomb had just gone off.

"Holy shit, that was badass! That’s the Scarlet Legion we’re talking about! He’s really not afraid?!"

"Did you hear that? Draconic Pact—so that’s the name of his mysterious faction?"

"Damn... I have a bad feeling about this. This is gonna be huge."

"But isn’t this way too reckless? He’s basically making enemies of two major forces at the same time—Sterling Group and Scarlet Legion. Sure, maybe his faction is strong enough to handle Sterling Group’s pressure, but Scarlet Legion? No way. There’s no way this Draconic Pact could be on the same level as the Top Ten Guilds, right? That’s just impossible!"

"Exactly! In North America, aside from the military guilds, the Top Ten Guilds are the absolute peak. If there was really another faction out there just as powerful, Scarlet Legion would’ve known about it by now."

"Yeah, I don’t buy it either! The Top Ten Guilds are the ceiling of the gaming world here. No matter how strong this Draconic Pact is, there’s no way they can surpass them."

"If he really pisses off the Top Ten Guilds, he’s gonna be in serious trouble!"

...

William remained silent, his expression calm—

But deep in his eyes, there was a flicker of concern.

To be honest, he was thinking the exact same thing as everyone else.

Maybe Ethan’s Draconic Pact was really powerful—

But there was no way they could be stronger than Scarlet Legion.

North America had countless gaming guilds.

But the Top Ten?

They were the absolute peak.

The only forces above them were the military guilds.

And there was no way Draconic Pact was a military guild... right?

Or something on the same level as one?

William let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head.

"Damn it..."

The pressure was immense.

"Chairman, should we...?" Nightfall hesitated, his voice uncertain.

"Let’s go there ourselves," William said after a moment. "Hopefully, this doesn’t spiral out of control..."

With that, he and Nightfall set off toward the Scarlet Legion’s headquarters.

Meanwhile—

The events that had just unfolded sent shockwaves through the entire gaming world.
