The flow of time in reality didn't slow down just because Zixu time-traveled. The fierce battle between Sasuke and Itachi hadn't stopped either.

But calling it a "decisive battle" wasn't really accurate. If Itachi had gone all out, it would've been a straight-up massacre. But based on the strength he showed, he was going back and forth with Sasuke—which was just ridiculous.

Zetsu, hiding in the distance among the trees, couldn't help but find it all amusing. He obviously knew Itachi's real plan: sacrifice himself to pave the way for Sasuke. Even though the Akatsuki would probably go after Konoha after his death, Itachi still chose Sasuke over the village.

Poor Sasuke was completely in the dark, thinking his hard work with ninjutsu was paying off. His three-tomoe Sharingan spun wildly, and lightning condensed into armored plating—ninjutsu he developed by studying Aburame Hatsuizumi's Zerg armor technique.

Itachi was honestly pleased. Sasuke was already showing early signs of the full-body Susanoo. If he mastered this lightning armor, then unlocking Susanoo later would be easier.

"Lightning armor? Not bad. But you idiot... The true power of the Uchiha clan lies in our eyes. You've made a stupid decision. I'll take those eyes, and the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan will be mine," Itachi taunted, trying to act insane while "accidentally" revealing hints of the truth.

"I don't need those eyes to beat you!" Sasuke snapped. He formed a lightning spear in one hand, dashed forward, and lunged at Itachi—but missed.

Itachi's body scattered into a murder of crows. Although Sasuke tried not to look, he still accidentally made eye contact.

That brief glance was enough.

Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan spun like stained glass, dragging Sasuke into a world of illusion.

Crows poured into Sasuke mouth one after another, nearly bursting his chest. In this eerie illusion space, Itachi appeared, omnipresent.

Oddly enough, Itachi didn't take advantage of the opening. Sasuke broke the genjutsu through sheer willpower.

"Cough... cough..." Itachi violently coughed up blood, his Akatsuki robe stained and messy, clearly suffering serious internal damage. Still, he said nothing.

The ever-rainy Rain Village felt even more oppressive. The clouds above, dark and thick, flickered with blue lightning. The skies dimmed, and lightning was pulled downward by Sasuke's chakra.

From those clouds, blackened thunder unicorns formed and gathered above. Compared to their size, Itachi looked small—almost pitiful.

"So you started condensing thunderclouds the moment we came in? That's some growth..." Itachi mused, staring up at the thunder god floating in the air—Sasuke.

"Die... Kirin!" (Thunder Beast)

The wild lightning came down like divine punishment, vaporizing the area where Itachi stood. The Kirin continued its rampage until the clouds dispersed.

Sasuke, who served as the lightning medium, had burns all over, but his medical ninjutsu wasn't lacking. Large pieces of scorched skin fell off, and he healed quickly.

"Ha... ha..." Sasuke panted heavily. Both the Kirin and his self-healing had drained most of his chakra. He needed rest badly.

"Is he dead?" he muttered, staring into the fading dust and rain.

But of course, he was disappointed.

A crimson chakra flickered through the smoke. An overwhelming, terrifying aura emerged—Itachi wasn't dead.

Meanwhile, the first thing Kakashi did after discovering Sasuke's disappearance was start searching. He scoured all of Rain Village but found nothing until he saw thunderclouds gathering in the distance. That was where "Sasuke" had to be.

But before he could move, another unexpected presence appeared.

Konan—her body like a ghost in white—descended silently behind him, her massive wings made of paper flapping gently. Her cold gaze locked onto Kakashi from above.

Thousands of paper sheets swirled around, encasing Kakashi like they had a mind of their own.

"Die..." she said coldly. Her wings fired off a barrage of razor-sharp paper feathers like raining blades.

The swirling paper trap trembled violently, then shattered.

A powerful fist crashed through the papery prison. Each strike held an explosive inch-force, reducing the sharp sheets to useless dust.

The man dashed to Kakashi's side, catching raindrops mid-air and throwing them like shuriken, piercing through the remaining paper blades.

"May I ask your name?" Kakashi asked, taking advantage of the break to retreat.

"From the Land of Whirlpools, Hyuga Chinano, us" the figure responded, her voice like thunder.

Then they both bolted.

But this was enemy territory—it wouldn't be that easy to run.

Dozens of Konan's paper clones appeared, boxing them in.

Yet Hyuga Chinano didn't panic. She recognized that Konan's paper held hidden explosive tags. One wrong move and they'd blow sky-high.

But Chinano's movements were lightning fast. Every sheet within two meters was dodged with perfect timing.

"Within seven steps—fist is faster than thought!"

Her punches were like bullets. Konan's clone didn't even see it coming before a massive hole was blasted through its body.

Chinano finished his combo, exhaled softly, and struck the signature Kamae (Guarding Stance) pose.

"I'll take on ten!"

The remaining clones exploded into debris. Even the explosive tags were reduced to harmless slag.

"Nice moves!" Kakashi praised, grabbing Chinano's shoulder as they ran. Their goal wasn't to fight—it was to gather intel on the Akatsuki.

Konan was a confirmed Akatsuki member. Which likely meant this place was their base.

"The Akatsuki leader... He still hasn't shown up..." Kakashi thought, gears turning. "This rain... it's wrong. The leader should've sensed our presence by now. Why only send Konan?"

Something didn't add up.

Kakashi's instincts screamed that something big was coming.

And just as he feared, several ominous silhouettes appeared before them—each one radiating killing intent.
