Naruto: Wooing Tsunade from Day One!-Chapter 391: Misaki’s Pregnancy
Chapter 391 - 391: Misaki's Pregnancy
"Who would you choose, Grandma?"
Kawakaze had calmed down by now, and he already had the perfect candidate in mind.
He had foreseen this day coming half a year ago. He had mentally prepared himself, yet when the moment arrived, it was still hard to accept.
The Naruto world was filled with all kinds of secret techniques, but true immortality remained elusive—death was final for almost everyone.
Throughout the entire series, there were only two known ways to bring someone back from the dead.
One was the forbidden technique, Outer Path — Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, activated by the Rinnegan. But whether Nagato could even use it now was uncertain. Even if he sacrificed himself to resurrect Mito, Kawakaze couldn't allow that. And he was certain Mito wouldn't accept it either.
As for the other forbidden technique, One's Own Life Reincarnation, its creator, Granny Chiyo, had long since passed, and her grave was probably several meters high by now. Finding instructions on how to perform it was impossible.
There was nothing he could do but accept reality.
"There's no preference between them; either one is fine."
Mito answered quickly, once again shifting the decision away from herself. She truly hadn't made up her mind. Both choices carried equal weight, making the decision incredibly difficult.
"I suggest choosing Misaki."
By now, Tsunade had wiped away her tears, though she still looked downcast.
Kawakaze and Mito turned to her, waiting for her explanation.
"In terms of personality, Misaki is more stable."
"In terms of Fūinjutsu, Misaki is no weaker than Kushina."
"And Misaki has a more thorough understanding of the Tailed Beasts."
Tsunade laid out her reasoning—three solid points, each valid.
She wasn't taking sides, nor was she influenced by personal feelings. She was simply addressing the matter objectively. Now that she had calmed down, she was once again the resolute Fourth Hokage.
"Well, you do make a good argument."
Kawakaze wanted to refute her, but he couldn't find any flaws in her reasoning. Still, perhaps because of his preconceived notions from the original events, he couldn't shake the feeling that Kushina was the better choice.
And, admittedly, there was a bit of selfishness in his stance.
"If things were as simple as you say, I wouldn't be so torn."
"While Misaki does seem less likely to be corrupted by the Nine-Tails, none of you truly understand it the way Kushina does. That gives her a natural advantage."
Mito shook her head. Tsunade's points weren't enough to sway her.
No one understood the Nine-Tails better than she did, and Misaki's supposed edge wasn't as significant as Tsunade believed.
"Then... why don't we ask their opinions?"
Kawakaze suggested tentatively, carefully glancing at Tsunade to gauge her reaction.
"That's an option," she replied after a brief pause. "Rather than deciding their fate for them, we should let them choose."
She agreed with his proposal without questioning Mito's stance.
"Sigh..."
"Then it's settled. I'll speak with them again tomorrow."
Mito sighed, unable to come up with a better solution. If the Nine-Tails weren't too weak to act against Kawakaze, he would have been the most suitable candidate. With his Wood Release, the Tailed Beast wouldn't stand a chance.
"Grandma, how much time do we have left?"
Tsunade tried to keep her voice steady, but it still trembled. Since she couldn't change the inevitable, she at least wanted to spend as much time with Mito as possible.
"Not just yet. I still want to be with you all a little longer."
Mito smiled gently, as if she truly didn't fear death.
"Okay then."
Tsunade seemed relieved that she hadn't received a definite answer.
Kawakaze opened his mouth as if to say something but hesitated, unsure of what to say. Silence filled the room, broken only by the sound of their breathing.
After an unknown stretch of time, Mito finally spoke again.
"You two should head back for now. I'll let you know when I've made my decision."
Too much time had passed already, and she didn't want Nawaki or the others to grow suspicious. For now, she would keep things quiet.
"Alright. I'll come back tomorrow."
Tsunade understood her reasoning and stood up obediently.
"Are there any marks on my face?"
She turned to Kawakaze, tilting her head slightly.
"No, you look fine."
He smiled faintly and reached out, gently running his thumbs across her face.
"Grandma, let's go."
Tsunade forced a smile and tried to sound cheerful. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"Hm."
Mito nodded without saying much.
With her watchful gaze following them, Kawakaze and Tsunade left the house.
"Being able to choose a good day for yourself isn't so bad," Mito murmured with a self-deprecating smile, watching the two of them fade into the distance.
Kawakaze and Tsunade stepped into the courtyard, already looking as if nothing had happened.
"Ginji, come here. Let's go home."
Tsunade waved at Ginji, and Nawaki accompanied him over.
"Sister, what did Grandma want to see you about?" Nawaki asked casually, standing next to Kawakaze.
"Nothing, just a casual chat."
Tsunade answered dismissively, and Nawaki didn't suspect anything.
"Alright, it's getting late. We'll talk tomorrow. Bye."
Kawakaze took Ginji's hand, and Tsunade held his hand as they walked toward the gate together.
"Bye."
Nawaki and the others waved them off.
"Do you think something's off with your sister?"
Misaki, ever the most observant, waited until Kawakaze and the others were far away before speaking.
"What's wrong? I didn't notice anything."
Nawaki shook his head blankly, then turned to Kushina.
"I didn't see anything either," she said.
Kushina and Nawaki were alike in that way—both belonged to the carefree type.
"Then maybe I'm just overthinking it."
Misaki had no way of knowing the truth, so she brushed it off as her own sensitivity.
"Who cares? Let's get some sleep."
Nawaki rubbed his hands together, his eyes burning with anticipation.
"Come on, I can't wait to hold my nephew."
Kushina giggled, teasing as she dashed away as if escaping.
"That brat..."
Misaki watched Kushina's retreating figure and made a note of her 'evil deeds.' She silently vowed that on the day Kushina got married, she would make her pay.
"Time to make a baby."
With no one else around, Nawaki simply scooped Misaki into his arms and carried her straight to the bedroom without hesitation.
Fugaku had married before him, and now Mikoto was visibly pregnant. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little envious.
"Put me down, put me down!"
Misaki struggled in Nawaki's arms, her face flushing with embarrassment.
"It's fine, everyone's gone."
Nawaki had no intention of letting go—he was her husband, after all. Even if someone did see, so what?
"Envious?"
As they approached the bedroom, Misaki gave up struggling. She knew exactly what was on Nawaki's mind.
"No."
Nawaki was stubborn, refusing to admit it.
"Really?"
Misaki smiled, finding his childish denial adorable.
"...Maybe a little."
Under her knowing gaze, Nawaki finally relented, speaking casually to cover up his embarrassment.
Bang!
The door was kicked open, then slammed shut behind them.
"From today onward, you don't have to be envious."
"Because... I have it too."
Misaki's words left Nawaki frozen in place. The thought of tossing her onto the bed vanished entirely.
"What?"
"You're pregnant?"
Nawaki's expression shifted from shock to pure joy.
"Mhmm."
"I thought I was just full from eating, but then I sensed a faint breath of life."
Misaki stared into Nawaki's eyes, her love overflowing.
"Haha! This is wonderful!"
"I'm going to go tell Grandma!"
Overcome with excitement, Nawaki kissed her twice, as if that alone wasn't enough to express his happiness.
"Tomorrow, maybe. Grandma might be resting."
Misaki wrapped her arms around him, pulling him closer.
Their eyes met, and the atmosphere in the room shifted.
"...Can we do it again?"
Nawaki hesitated for a moment, uncertain.
Misaki blinked up at him without a word, then gave a small nod.
And just like that, the room was once again filled with warmth~
