Naruto: Wooing Tsunade from Day One!-Chapter 456: The Unwelcome Kawakaze
Chapter 456 - 456: The Unwelcome Kawakaze
When Kawakaze left the laboratory, he was alone.
Well, more like he had been kicked out.
Tsunade and Orochimaru were already completely absorbed in their research, and his presence was nothing but an eyesore.
In the end, the two of them practically shoved him out the door.
"Ugh, using someone and then tossing them aside."
Kawakaze grumbled as he walked out of the hospital, still complaining nonstop.
"If they don't want me there, I'll just go somewhere else."
"Like hell there's a place in Konoha that I, Lord Kawakaze, can't go!"
He refused to believe even his dear big brother would throw him out.
With that thought, he headed toward the ANBU headquarters.
...
Before he even arrived, an ANBU operative had already spotted him and quickly reported to Sakumo.
"Lord Sakumo, Lord Kawakaze is on his way here."
The ANBU knelt before Sakumo, not daring to raise his head.
"Tell him I'm not here."
"If it were something important, he'd use Flying Thunder God instead of strolling in."
Sakumo waved dismissively. He knew his younger brother too well.
Kawakaze only showed up like this when he was bored. If he actually had something urgent, he wouldn't be bothering ANBU with it.
"Understood."
The ANBU bowed and withdrew, though beneath his mask, his expression was grim.
When gods fight, mortals suffer.
Bracing himself, he stepped in front of Kawakaze.
"Lord Kawakaze."
The ANBU didn't dare say anything unnecessary, keeping it short and polite.
"Hmm, is my big brother in?"
Kawakaze stopped in his tracks, smiling as if he didn't already know the answer.
"Lord Sakumo has gone out."
The ANBU delivered his line smoothly, exactly as instructed.
"That so? Then I'll just wait for him inside."
Kawakaze didn't think much of it and stepped forward.
"Lord Kawakaze—"
"Hmm? Is there a problem?"
Though Kawakaze was still smiling, the ANBU didn't know how to respond.
"...No problem at all, please go ahead."
After struggling internally, he could only step aside.
In Konoha, there might be people who could block Hatake Kawakaze's way, but he certainly wasn't one of them.
"Oh."
Kawakaze nodded and strolled in like he was walking through his own backyard.
...
"Eh? Weren't you out?"
As soon as he entered the office, he saw Sakumo sitting there, handling paperwork.
"Just got back."
"You need something?"
Sakumo didn't look the least bit surprised. He knew Kawakaze would force his way in—no mere ANBU could stop him.
"Heh, look at you, acting all official."
"Can't I come by just because I feel like it?"
Kawakaze rolled his eyes. Was he really that unwelcome?
Closing the door behind him, he poured himself a glass of water and plopped onto the sofa.
Sakumo didn't even acknowledge him, treating his presence as if it didn't exist.
"Oi, can you at least acknowledge your little brother?"
Kawakaze was almost done with his drink, and Sakumo still hadn't looked up.
Feeling the sting of being ignored, he spoke up again.
"If you have something to say, say it. If not, get out."
"I'm busy."
Sakumo finally stopped his work and glanced at Kawakaze, exasperation written all over his face.
This guy really had nothing better to do.
"My sister-in-law mentioned today that she wants to have another child."
"What do you think?"
Kawakaze had nothing else to talk about, and trying to discuss this with his old-fashioned older brother was bound to be a dead end.
"If you're really that bored, go to the training ground and help train my subordinates."
"The door's over there."
Sakumo rubbed his forehead, trying to keep his emotions in check.
"Alright, Sakumo Hatake."
"I finally see you for who you are."
Met with a cold shoulder despite his warm approach, Kawakaze stormed off in frustration.
Bang!
The office door slammed shut with a loud thud, and Kawakaze left even faster than he had arrived.
"That brat..."
Sakumo was both amused and exasperated, his expression a mix of emotions that anyone watching would find entertaining.
As the commander of the Anbu, only his younger brother could get such a reaction out of him.
"What a disgrace."
"How did I end up like this?"
Leaving the Anbu headquarters, Kawakaze let out a heavy sigh.
He had come to a realization—having too much free time wasn't always a good thing.
"Forget it. If the adults don't like me, maybe the kids will."
With that thought, he bought some toys and snacks on the way and headed straight for the Senju estate.
Before he even stepped inside, he could hear the sound of a child crying.
"What's going on? Who made my little Karin upset?"
He pushed the door open, his voice carrying through the entire Senju residence.
"Uncle! Uncle!"
The child didn't disappoint. Little Karin, with her tiny legs and tear-streaked face, wobbled toward Kawakaze, nearly tripping over herself.
"Don't cry, don't cry."
"Uncle's got your back."
Kawakaze crouched down, and Karin threw herself into his arms.
Her small hands couldn't wrap around his neck, so she clung to his shoulders instead.
Her entire face was buried in his chest, the only thing visible being her head of bright red hair.
"Lord Kawakaze, Miss Karin wanted to go find Lady Misaki."
"I told her no, and she started crying."
The nanny stood in front of Kawakaze, looking a little uneasy.
"It's fine. It's normal for a child to miss her mother."
"Go take care of other things. I'll look after Karin."
He picked the little girl up, dismissing the nanny.
Tsunade had arranged for her, so there was no need to worry about safety.
Besides, Kawakaze wasn't the type to be harsh—taking care of kids was never an easy job.
...
"All done crying?"
"Look, what do I have here?"
He shook the bag of toys and snacks.
"I'm done crying!"
"Thank you, Uncle!"
Karin lifted her head, her tears forgotten as soon as she saw the treats.
Grinning from ear to ear, she planted a kiss on Kawakaze's cheek, making his heart melt.
At that moment, he finally understood Orochimaru's fondness for kids.
...
"Still want to go find your mom?"
Kawakaze wiped away the traces of tears on Karin's round, rosy face.
Now that she could run and talk, her features resembled Misaki's more and more.
She was definitely going to be a beauty when she grew up.
"No, I don't need to."
"I want to eat that!"
She shook her head and pointed at the snacks. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"No problem."
Kawakaze fed her, making her giggle with delight.
The sense of being overlooked by adults completely disappeared in the presence of Karin.
...
"How about I take you out to play?"
After feeding her a good amount of snacks, he left the rest in the living room and decided to take her for a stroll.
He wasn't worried about losing her.
"Yes! Yes!"
Karin clapped her tiny hands, overjoyed.
"Alright, let's go."
Without needing to inform anyone, Kawakaze carried Karin out of the Senju estate.
They wandered through the village, stopping to eat and snack along the way, until her little belly was completely round.
"Uncle, Karin can't eat anymore."
She covered her mouth, looking like she truly couldn't take another bite.
"Haha, then Uncle will finish it."
Kawakaze polished off the leftovers, then set her down to walk on her own.
Karin grabbed onto his finger, swaying as she walked, unwilling to let go.
...
By the time the sun had set, Kawakaze finally carried a sleeping Karin back to the Senju estate.
"You've worked hard, brother-in-law."
"Sister Tsunade and Lord Orochimaru are still working overtime in the lab."
Misaki took Karin from him, updating him on Tsunade's whereabouts.
"Those two lunatics..."
Kawakaze chuckled and shook his head.
Even after stepping down, Tsunade would probably spend most of her time buried in research.
"Well, we have you to thank for bringing them such interesting materials."
Misaki teased, gently stroking her daughter's head.
"Haha, alright, I'll take the blame for that."
"Put Karin to bed. I'm heading back."
Still caught up in the warmth of Karin's affection, Kawakaze was in an excellent mood.
"Alright. See you later, brother-in-law."
Misaki watched as Kawakaze left, then turned her gaze northwest—the direction where Nawaki was.
