Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!-Chapter 306: | | Preparation for the Expedition
Inside the command center beneath the Foundation of the Citadel, Abraham rested upon his chair with a narrowed and cold gaze as he read through the reports regarding the preparation for the expedition. It was an operation that was established a couple of weeks ago after confirming the intelligence received by the refugees whose kingdom sunk beneath the rough waters of the seas.
Before him were Admirals, Intelligence Directors, and Government Officials who would be supervising the expedition and ensuing its success. After all, it would be the first time the United World Government would enter the Frontier. Caution was of utmost importance as their voyage wasn't to be underestimated. Although they wouldn't have to navigate through the brutal waves.
The skies of the Frontier were far from calm as it was turbulent and blackened by storms. As such, Abraham wanted his subordinates to be ready for what was about to come. The mission of the expedition is to establish the influence of the United World Government in the outskirts of the Revolting Tide's control and the regulation of the ancient kingdoms.
"All the information reported has been wholly confirmed, correct?" Abraham calmly asked the intelligence directors, who nodded simultaneously with one of them responding. "Intelligence has been confirmed, Sir. One after another, kingdoms are sinking in the outskirts of the Frontier. The reason or perpetrator of such tragedies hasn't yet to be discovered or known."
"We remain ignorant of how such kingdoms fell without warning. No legends or myths could explain the sinking of islands. Unless... We used that, Sir." The intelligence director uttered with calm and suggested a strange preposition that the middle-aged man understood. "That weapon, huh? Our testing are scarce and rare, but it was theorized to be capable of such things."
"Sinking an island would be an ease when spoken alongside our arsenal. But it has been confirmed that the weapon remains under wraps within the borders of the United World Government. I couldn't have been tested within the Frontier, and if it was, it wouldn't be towards a random kingdom. While we are ruthless against our enemies, that doesn't mean that we are bloodthirsty."
Abraham wasn't delighted by the preposition of the intelligence director, but he understood the reasoning of such thoughts. If spoken logically, only they were capable of sinking an island by utilizing an WMB. Intelligence agencies across the United World Government hasn't picked up the Frontier or Europa developing such dangerous weapons. In simpler terms, they were prime suspect.
"I believe that further investigation is warranted, Sir. Reconnaissance ships have discovered nearby and barrel islands that surrounded the sunken kingdom. We can directly investigate the geological activities of the sea region and discover the reason why islands have been sinking throughout the outskirts of the Frontier." Another intelligence director stepped forward and suggested to him.
"That makes sense... I hope that you will ensure the success of this operation. I want answers. Especially whether or not this phenomenon will spread beyond the outskirts of the Frontier. If it does, then the United World Government will face its first cataclysmic event." Abraham nodded at them and stated his expectations regarding the operation.
However, the operation wasn't simply about the investigation of the sunken islands. It was also about establishing contact with nearby kingdoms and building good relationships with them. As long as the country could abandon their slave-trades, the United World Government would be willing to further relationships without burning any bridges down. It was a low requirement.
After all, some alliances required a standard of wealth, economic power, population, and a capable military. No one would like to invite useless nations into their banner. But the United World Government didn't operate in such degree as there was no need for nations to be equal or stronger than them. As long as the ideology and the governance was satisfactory. It was enough.
The country was already wealthy and powerful enough, especially after taking over half of the Ferus Sea. Even though some stabilization was needed, the economy was already booming and the former citizens of the League of Humanity were transitioning much better than expected. There was no doubt that humans were adaptable creatures as good times tend to foster widespread acceptance.
"How about the United Military... Are you ready for the expedition?" Now that the intelligence directors had been handled, Abraham turned his attention towards the admirals who were sitting across him. The United Navy have grown since a year ago as it has completely transition into the Combined-Technologies of Strategic Ships. Through this technology, they could be in the air or sea.
"We are ready, Sir. A fleet has been prepared for the expedition. It consists of two dozens logistic ships, a dozen of destroyers, five cruisers, and two carriers. All of which belonged to the strategic-type. I believe that with this fleet, we have enough power to squash a couple of countries without delaying the given schedule." An admiral stood up and expounded to the middle-aged man.
They didn't hesitate to unveil the power they wielded. Crushing countries was easy for the United World Government. However, dealing with aftermaths was a problem. If they attacked a country without a reason, their political reputation could be damaged, making it difficult for them to make alliances or be in friendly terms with nearby nations.
It was for this reason that despite of the massive force that the United World Government employed into their military. They rarely wielded such force against nearby powers such as the Revolting Tide or the League of Humanity. What they needed instead was an opportunity to strike. The ability to fight without solely relying on their ideologies of freedom.
However, that was for the future. For now, establishing friendly relationships with some countries within the Frontier was enough for the World Government. It could also widen their trade network, further expanding their economic influence deep into the Frontier. At any rate, the expedition wasn't only created for one reason, but many.
Each of which would further the power of the United World Government.
Hearing the admiral, the middle-aged man nodded in understanding and uttered. "Good, your fleet must construct a temporary installation within an unmarked island. If the island is owned by a country, buy it. If they don't accept, throw enough money and they'll cave in. A single island is enough as it is merely our starting line in the region."
Abraham commanded with calm, making the admirals nod in understanding. The expedition was beginning to be set in stone, but his thoughts were straying into somewhere else. He would have like to go along the fleet and also visit the Frontier. After all, he was curious as to what the kingdoms of beastfolks looked like.
Besides, although he had a seen a few of beastfolk countries, all of them were devastated one way or the other. It would be intriguing to see a live kingdom filled to the brim with beastfolks living their lives. It would give him a great perspective towards the refugees entering the country and further his understanding of them.
'I guess there is nothing that I can do about it. I have a lot of things to do within the World Government.' Abraham thought to himself as he sighed. Returning his attention back to the round table, he gaze towards the admirals, intelligence directors, and government officials. "The expedition will officially begin tomorrow. The meeting is adjourned."
After uttering such words, the admirals, intelligence directors, and government officials stood up from their seats and left the command room after saluting or bowing towards the Authority of the United World Government. The middle-aged man was left alone while he entertained the thoughts inside his head. It was mainly about the Mythical Mage Althea and her youngest apprentice, his daughter, Tiamat.
'I remembered Althea asking permission to join the expedition into the Frontier.' He quietly thought as he tapped the wooden table softly. Although it was dangerous for his daughter to be somewhere outside of the United World Government, he trusted the capabilities of the Mythical Mage. He didn't doubt that Althea could protect Tiamat from mortal danger.
But nevertheless, it was difficult to not be intrigued by the prospect of it. Especially when even he had a hard time gouging the power of the Mythical Mage. Even Laplace was found it strenuous as Althea seemed to be skilled in hiding her strength. Perhaps it was the reason why she had survived for so long within the primordial world. Most would underestimate it and pretend what was in front of them was what it actually was.
When in reality, it was far from it. There was a possibility she could rival a Sovereign, especially when some of them were her apprentices centuries ago. Though, one might question. Who were these apprentices that became one of the Sovereigns that had led at the apex of humanity. Well, it was none other than the Sovereign of the Moon, Kaguya.
She was the only one that Althea seemed to be open to talking about. Though, he was confident that there should be more Sovereigns under her. Maybe their relationship had been strained, especially with how the League of Humanity was expanding under the authority of the Sovereigns. They were the ones who had brought about the second continental war, after all.
A war that had lasted a century and scarred the continent of Europa.
"Hmm... Tiamat should be progressing swiftly under the tutelage of the Mythical Mage. I can't wait to see how far she has grown since starting her apprenticeship under that elf." The edges of his lips rose as he was expecting a lot from his daughter.
