Obsessive Tycoon and His Swan Girl-Chapter 59 - Love It or Leave It
Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Love It or Leave It
Chapter 59 -59 Love It or Leave It
“When this spice is burned and inhaled, it can greatly benefit sleep. I’ve heard it’s made using ancient methods, very effective. Today, I brought some for you.”
“Is that so?” Qin’s matriarch replied with a smile, though her smile was much fainter than usual, not even lifting her wrinkles.
“How about I light it now for you to try?” Luo Xinyi eagerly suggested.
After she finished speaking, she lit the prepared spice, and suddenly, the living room was filled with a fragrant aroma.
It wasn’t an unpleasant smell.
“How was this spice made?” Jiang Zhe, who had been silent, asked.
Upon hearing her question, Luo Xinyi knew she was inexperienced and said, “This is a secret recipe, definitely handcrafted using various high-quality herbs. It’s a confidential formula; I merely sought out this fragrance. How could I ask someone how it is made?”
Jiang Zhe commented lightly, “High-quality herbs?”
“Certainly, the spice is quite valuable. But as long as it’s useful and can help Granny Qin, it’s worth it.”
Jiang Zhe sniffed again more carefully, and the matriarch asked, “Xiaozhe, what do you think of the fragrance?”
Luo Xinyi, noticing the high regard Qin’s matriarch held for Jiang Zhe’s opinion, felt a bit displeased.
A high school student, what would she know about fragrances?
Jiang Zhe replied calmly and evenly, “It’s harmless.”
Harmless, meaning it was also likely ineffective.

Luo Xinyi’s face turned slightly red, but uncertain of the Qin family’s current attitude towards Jiang Zhe, she didn’t dare to object too strongly and could only say, “I’ve already tried it myself, and it definitely works. Whether it’s useful or not can only be known after trying it.”
“Granny Qin, how do you feel?” Luo Xinyi turned to ask the matriarch.
The matriarch indeed yawned slightly and said, “Not bad. It’s getting late, and I need to rest. You should head back now.”
Luo Xinyi was very happy to see her drowsiness, as the matriarch had been tormented by insomnia for many years, unable to find peace in sleep, and numerous doctors had failed to help. Only a piece of music played two years ago had managed to soothe her to sleep for a while.
Naturally, she was excited to be able to help the matriarch now.
“Then I will leave these fragrances here for now.” Luo Xinyi quickly said.
However, the matriarch didn’t show much joy, merely responding indifferently, “Leave them here.”
Luo Xinyi wasn’t discouraged. It was normal for the matriarch not to care much about these trifles, but once she realized the benefits of the spices, she would surely remember Luo Xinyi.
“Then Granny Qin, you go ahead and rest. I’ll bring more fragrances for you later,” Luo Xinyi said, then turned to Qin Jingchen, “Jingchen, I’ll be leaving first.”
Qin Jingchen’s handsome face showed no emotion as he slightly lifted his chin with an aristocratic coldness as a sign of acknowledgment.
Satisfied with that gesture from him, Luo Xinyi got up to leave.
The butler escorted Luo Xinyi out.
As soon as he had seen off the guest and turned around, he saw Qin Jingchen following out and felt slightly surprised. Jingchen had never made much of Luo Xinyi’s visits before; what had changed this time?
“Next time, don’t let her bring that stuff inside again,” Qin Jingchen said with a deep frown. He spoke calmly and evenly, yet the butler felt a chill down his spine, straightened his posture, and responded affirmatively.
By the time Qin Jingchen returned, the matriarch had already gone upstairs to rest.
“Where are the spices?” Jingchen inquired.
“Granny Qin had them stored away,” Jiang Zhe replied, tilting her chin towards the place under the coffee table.
It was clear the matriarch didn’t value the item very highly.
A servant came downstairs, his expression one of relief, “Young Master, the matriarch has fallen asleep.”
“Understood,” Qin Jingchen nodded, and the servant withdrew happily.
“Is it the effect of the spices?” Jiang Zhe asked, although she couldn’t smell anything special from the spices, the old Mrs. Qin had indeed received real benefits.
“No. The effect before was from the snow fungus… the mushrooms that you provided.” Qin Jingchen gazed into Jiang Zhe’s eyes, “And today, it was you.”
Jiang Zhe spoke calmly, “And then?”
“May I give the recording of your voice to Grandma?”
“No.” Jiang Zhe didn’t look at him, turning away, “I will record it again for her.”
“Okay.” Qin Jingchen’s low chuckle came from behind her.
Jiang Zhe had not expected her voice to have a soothing effect on the old Mrs. Qin.
The last time Qin Jingchen brought up wanting the sound of her piano, she had vaguely guessed.
Yang Feiliu had mentioned before that there were people in the black market buying recordings of piano sounds, many had tried but none were selected, and the notice was still there.
She hadn’t thought much of it before, but today, she connected all these pieces together.
No wonder Qin Jingchen had gone to watch the youth piano competition last time, presumably the piano sounds that the old Mrs. Qin had been using were her own.
It was no wonder Qin Jingchen had such a hard time finding it, as Jiang Zhe herself rarely played the piano and never performed easily.
It was very late in the evening when the old Mrs. Qin invited Jiang Zhe to stay over before going to sleep, and at that moment, the servant had already prepared the guest room and came to invite Jiang Zhe.
“Miss Jiang, this way please.”
“You may go.” Qin Jingchen dismissed the servant and personally led Jiang Zhe to the guest room.
Following behind him, Qin Jingchen opened the door to a spacious room that had been tidied up, in colors and decorations the old Mrs. Qin thought a young lady would like—very pink and delicate.
Jiang Zhe accepted this kindness.
“Goodnight,” Jiang Zhe said as she entered, about to close the door.
Qin Jingchen held the door with one hand, and Jiang Zhe was unable to close it as a result.
She looked up at Qin Jingchen and noticed his gaze resting on her lips.
Her expression unchanging, a scorching sensation heated her lips, but she deliberately ignored it.
Qin Jingchen ultimately just looked with his eyes and did not make an inappropriate move. Staring at her plump and rosy lips, his voice slightly hoarse, he said, “Goodnight.”
Jiang Zhe closed the door.
…
Early next morning after breakfast, Jiang Zhe went to say goodbye to the old Mrs. Qin.
Well-rested for the whole night, the old Mrs. Qin was in good spirits, sipping tea. Hearing that she was about to leave, the old woman showed a bit of regret, but she didn’t ask Jiang Zhe to stay longer, “Come back when you have time. As for you…”
She glanced at Qin Jingchen, “Come and go as you wish.”
As soon as she heard Jiang Zhe was leaving, Qin Jingchen declared he would leave as well, making the old Mrs. Qin somewhat reluctant to part.
However, she was also eager for her grandson to settle down, happy for him to follow Jiang Zhe out.
Qin Jingchen chuckled softly, not responding to her mild complaint, only saying, “I have matters to attend to in Jincheng.”
“Go on,” the old Mrs. Qin didn’t insist on them staying.
Jiang Zhe waved goodbye to her.
Standing by Mrs. Qin’s side throughout, a competent woman in her fifties who took care of her closely reminded her, “Old Mrs. Qin, the piano recordings the young master talked about giving you—have they been passed on to you yet?”
