Chapter 183 - 183: Confrontation on Kalizhiba Island
"I see."
After hearing what Sengoku said, Akainu was silent for a moment before nodding.
The situation in the New World was indeed becoming troublesome.
Especially now that Kizaru had arrested Cracker and Katakuri—it was inevitable that more incidents would follow. Akainu needed to increase the Navy's presence in the New World to maintain control.
Soon after, Akainu left the office.
Only Sengoku remained, sitting in his chair, scratching his head with a helpless look. "There's too much going on lately. I shouldn't have accepted the position of Fleet Admiral so early."
Forget about the Black Crow Pirates, there was also Taros.
This pirate crew was a monster-level force, even among those who emerged in the Great Pirate Era.
On top of that, there was the Linglong Newspaper Office in the first half of the Grand Line. Not only could it appear and vanish without a trace, but it even sold newspapers to the Celestial Dragons and had already expanded into the New World—yet no one could find its base of operations.
All of these problems came from the new era.
But the remnants of the old era were also causing turmoil in the New World, making things even more difficult for the Navy.
Now, Sengoku was feeling overwhelmed and decided to give up on managing the first half of the Grand Line and focus entirely on the New World.
Of course, it wasn't a complete abandonment. Although the selection process for the Seven Warlords of the Sea was still underway, the ones who had already been chosen were stationed in the first half of the Grand Line. These Warlords had just taken up the title and were suitable candidates to help the Navy clean up pirates entering the area regularly.
This was to prevent the emergence of another threat like the Black Crow.
The First Half of the Grand Line – On a Giant Beast Island
Vegapunk stood on the shoreline under the protection of more than a dozen CP agents. He looked at the vast forest ahead with a satisfied smile.
"Yes, this is the island," he said.
"In that case, I'll report to the higher-ups immediately. The laboratory construction will begin soon," a nearby CP agent responded respectfully.
"Good. Also, help me collect the blood and genes of some of the giant beasts on this island. No need to kill them—just a small blood sample will do," Vegapunk added.
The reason Vegapunk chose this island as his temporary research base was, of course, because of Mio's request. However, since he needed the World Government's approval, he had to deliver two research projects:
One for Mio.
One for the World Government—to avoid raising any suspicions.

Hearing his orders, the CP agents respectfully nodded and quickly entered the forest to begin their task.
Over the following days, ships from the World Government began to arrive, delivering equipment and supplies. A large protective dome was constructed in the island's center as time passed.
Five Days Later – Somewhere in the New World
The Black Glory sailed steadily across the sea.
On the deck, Mio was practicing Armament Haki. His entire body was wrapped in deep black Haki, shimmering faintly. The energy around him surged as the Haki began to extend slightly from his body.
"My lord, we are almost at Kalizhiba Island," Bai Feng's voice rang out.
Upon hearing this, Mio instantly retracted his Haki. He took the towel offered by Mashi and wiped his sweat, gazing into the distance. A black dot appeared faintly on the horizon.
As expected, it was Kalizhiba Island.
According to intel gathered by his shadow warriors, Rufasi was currently on this island.
With a snap of his fingers, a shadow warrior emerged from behind Mio. The warrior knelt on one knee and respectfully raised two bounty posters.
Mio took the posters and read through them.
The two targets were Devil Fruit users, but their powers were nothing special—just basic Zoan-type abilities.
Looking at the bounty posters, Mio's lips curled into a slight smirk and his eyes glinted.
"Hei Yan, I'll leave this to you once we land."
"Understood, sir."
Hei Yan nodded, glanced at the posters, then tucked them away and resumed training.
The ship approached the island quickly under sail.
Once the Black Glory docked, Hei Yan disembarked to complete the mission Mio had assigned.
As Hei Yan left, Mio rubbed his chin, chuckled lightly, and said, "Alright, let's go."
Mio looked forward to this objective.
Leaving Bai Feng and Han Ba behind, Mio and a few others headed straight to the island's town.
After entering the town, they walked directly to a tavern.
"This should be the place," Mio murmured, pushing open the tavern door.
Inside, the place was filled with rowdy pirates drinking and making noise. The island was lawless—similar to Mock Town—where pirates ran wild.
Mio scanned the crowd until his eyes landed on one man. The corners of his mouth rose slightly.
"Hypnotist pirate captain Lucifer, right?"
Hearing someone call him by name, Lucifer turned around and looked at Mio in confusion.
When he saw Mio's face, he paused—then grinned.
"The Black Crow Pirates, huh? I'm surprised. You came all the way here just for me?"
Though his bounty was only 130 million, Lucifer had survived in the New World for years. While not particularly successful, he had stayed alive through his own ability.
He was proud of being a New World pirate and looked down on those from the first half of the Grand Line—rookies, in his opinion.
Even the well-known Black Crow Pirates were no exception.
"Yeah, I'm here specifically for you," Mio said calmly. "I need your ability."
"Hah, newcomer, that's not how you ask someone for a favor," Lucifer sneered. "But it doesn't matter. The thing I enjoy most is teaching rookies their place in the New World."
As he finished speaking, Lucifer snapped his fingers.
Mio raised an eyebrow in interest.
In an instant, the scene around him changed. What had been a noisy tavern now became Marine Headquarters, filled with Navy officers—even vice admirals. The sounds, smells, and sights were all vividly real.
It was the power of the Sensory-Sensory Fruit.
"Not bad at all. This will come in handy," Mio said with a grin.
But Sensory abilities could only fool the senses.
Mio unsheathed Raikiri and slashed forward.
A sudden cry of shock rang out.
The illusion shattered in an instant, and the scene returned to the tavern. A deep cut had formed where Lucifer had stood.
Lucifer, narrowly avoiding the slash, had jumped to the side.
Mio's eyes flashed. He sheathed Raikiri and stepped forward, appearing in front of Lucifer in the blink of an eye.
Before Lucifer could react, Mio grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into the ground with full force.
Boom!
A loud crash echoed through the tavern.
The floor trembled from the impact.
