One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 167: The Strongest of the New Generation!
Chapter 167 - The Strongest of the New Generation!
The battlefield was split in two by a massive, gaping tear that ran the entire length of the island.
The very island had been ripped apart!
Even the sky was affected; the clouds above Whitebeard's forces were gone, vanished without a trace, while the clouds above Roya's were a jumbled mess.
Roya and Ace lay sprawled on the ground, chests heaving with each desperate breath. Their bodies, already bruised and battered, had taken another terrible beating. It was a miracle they were still breathing.
Yamato, lying near Roya, peeked at him with wide, curious eyes, wondering if she should pretend to be dead too.
She'd been hurt by Whitebeard's earth-shattering power, but not too badly.
She was naturally stronger than the others, in top physical condition, and she also had the healing powers of her animal-type Devil Fruit.
Oh dear, what to do? What should I do?
"Gura rā ra, what a feisty bunch of young devils!"
Whitebeard stood on the other side of the chasm, looking at the wounded trio, especially Roya, with admiration.
They had stopped his Tremor Power!
It was a group effort, sure, but the fact that they could do it at all was worthy of praise, even if they were his enemies.
Impressive indeed!
It would be a real waste if such talented youngsters were to die here.
Besides...
Whitebeard glanced towards the coast, sensing familiar figures approaching rapidly.
It was Garp.
"Gura rā ra, attacking wounded youngsters would be a low blow. You should be grateful you survived."
Whitebeard chuckled, giving Ace a long, thoughtful look before turning back to his crew.
He wouldn't force anyone. Even if he took Ace aboard his ship, he wouldn't stop him if he chose to leave.
The Whitebeard Pirates were a big, loving family, built and maintained by the bonds of kinship, not by plunder and force.
Roger's legacy was far less important to him than the safety of his sons. He could wait a few more years!
"Alright, lads, let's head back!"
"Ooooh!" the crew roared in response.
The Moby Dick turned and slowly sailed into the sea.
Moments later, Marine warships arrived on the scene.
Aokiji and Garp stood at the front of the lead ship.
"Ara ara, is it all over already?" Aokiji drawled.
"Aokiji, it's your fault for being so slow! Damn it, I didn't even get to show off! I wanted to make a grand entrance!" Garp grumbled, picking his nose. He'd rushed from Headquarters in a frenzy, only to arrive too late. It was embarrassing, to say the least. Still, these young ones are impressive!

The next day, in the New World, at the G-14 Branch.
The G-5 Branch fleet had already returned, and the 11th Division was taking a much-needed rest. It had been a long deployment, and everyone needed to recover.
The fortress was still under construction, but its basic structure was already taking shape. In less than two years, it would be fully operational.
Inside the fortress, there was a familiar face.

Doll, cigarette in mouth, tossed the latest newspaper to Roya. "Take a look. You're all over the news this time! Honestly, you're far too reckless!"
"I didn't have much choice," Roya replied.
Roya crossed his legs and casually opened the newspaper. "Doll, make me a cup of coffee."
"..."
Doll paused, staring at Roya.
It hadn't even been a year, and this kid was already acting so confident.
Sensing Doll's gaze, Roya raised his head, eyebrows raised slightly. "Is there something on my face?"
"No, you're plenty handsome!"
Doll huffed softly, swaying her hips as she walked to the coffee machine.
Even though she'd been given an order, she wasn't angry. In fact, she was a little pleased. After all, he was the man she had her eye on.
Soon, Doll placed a steaming cup of coffee on the table.
"Hey, come to my room tonight."
"Alright."
Watching Doll leave in a huff, Roya smiled wryly, took a sip of coffee, and continued reading the newspaper.
The Matsuba Island incident dominated the entire front page.
Fighting against the Whitebeard Pirates had made him famous overnight, and most of the article described his heroic performance.
Before, he was just a Marine New Star with a bit of fame. Even if he was valued by some, he was still considered a rookie.
But now, surviving against Whitebeard was the ultimate proof of his strength, and the newspaper also mentioned his clash with Shanks.
Provoking two of the Four Emperors in a row, and escaping unscathed!
[The Strongest of the New Generation]
The newspaper boldly declared him the "Strongest," and the "New Generation" referred to young people born after Roger's death.
Roger had been dead for 19 years, and Roya was exactly 19 years old.
Roya put down the newspaper and walked out of the office.
"Rear Admiral Roya!"
"Mm."
"Rear Admiral!"
"Mm."
The Marines he passed straightened up and saluted.
The G-14 Fortress was still being built, but it already housed a Marine garrison. Including Doll, several Vice Admirals were stationed there to protect it from attack.
But Doll and the others weren't just guarding the G-14 Branch. Near the G-14 Branch, there was a Winter Island called Egghead, which was also under construction.
It would become the World Government's most important scientific research facility, and the main reason for establishing the G-14 Branch was to guard Egghead.
Roya wandered around the base, and soon Lu Yun came over.
"Sir, we just received orders from Headquarters to return there within half a month!"
"Understood."
Roya nodded.
After causing such a commotion, Headquarters would naturally summon him. He also needed to discuss Ace's potential position as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Half a month was plenty of time.
"Lu Yun, where's Yamato?"
"Yamato's on the warship."
Lu Yun's eyes lit up when he mentioned Yamato.
Yamato wasn't as mysterious as Roya, but she was still a highly valuable research subject. However, she was terrified of needles, and it would take a lot of effort to get her to cooperate with the research.
"I'll go take a look."
Roya returned to the warship and soon found Yamato fishing on the deck. Compared to the imposing fortress, she preferred to stay on the ship.
Seeing Roya, Yamato froze, then dashed over, circling him and even sniffing him.
Yamato looked confused, touching the band-aid on her face.
How strange, her own injuries hadn't even healed yet, so why was there no trace of blood on Roya's body after only one day?
"Roya, are you alright?"
"Perfectly fine," Roya replied, annoyed.
He knew why Yamato was confused. After taking such heavy damage, it was usually impossible to heal so quickly.
Ace was still bedridden.
Roya stared at Yamato, growing more fond of her. He was lucky to have her this time, or who knew what might have happened.
This girl had really helped a lot.
But the current problem was also very serious.
Yamato had also been written about in the newspaper!
Facing five captains alone and winning so decisively couldn't be hidden.
Soon, Kaido would hear that he'd snatched Yamato away.
And that guy wouldn't be as nice as Whitebeard or Shanks.
Roya grabbed Yamato's shoulders with both hands.
"Yamato, I will never hand you over to anyone else!"
"Mm!"
Yamato's eyes sparkled, and she nodded eagerly.
She believed in Roya.
