One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 221: An Eighty-Twenty Split Just Won’t Cut It
Chapter 221 - An Eighty-Twenty Split Just Won't Cut It
East Blue, Glass Bead Island.
The music had stopped, but the crowd stayed put, surrounding Uta with even more excitement. Roya and the others got pulled right into the middle of it all.
They signed autographs until their hands ached.
Back at the inn, Roya peeked through the curtains, spotting the swarm of fans blocking the entrance. My head is pounding.
He let the curtain fall. "Fullbody, Jango, you two get going. Set up the next concert in West Blue."
"Aye aye, Captain Roya!"
They were off like a shot, ready to make plans.
Time was precious. Roya wanted to hit all Four Seas with a concert, each gig lasting about a month. After that, it was off to the Grand Line for more shows.
Then there was the matter of all the money they were making.
He'd promised it would go to helping those in need, so he needed a solid plan to make that happen.
---
Three days later, in a kingdom in the East Blue caught in the middle of a fiery revolution.
As dusk settled, Roya arrived solo at the rebel army's makeshift camp.
Surrounded by the rebel soldiers, Roya casually plopped down in a chair, pulling out his nail clippers and getting to work.
The soldiers exchanged nervous glances. They knew who Roya was - Captain of the Peace Band, but also Marine Vice Admiral Black Hair.
Is he here to cause trouble?
Soon enough, the rebellion's hidden weapon appeared: Belo Betty, with her signature open vest and confident presence.
Betty eyed Roya, confused by his appearance. "Mister Black Hair, you came to see me, I presume?"
"You could say that."
Roya looked up at Betty.
"Let's find somewhere a little more private."
A moment later, they stood together by the coast.
Roya spoke calmly. "I received orders to look into the Goa Kingdom's Celestial Tribute. You know what I'm talking about, right?"
"Celestial Tribute..."
Betty gave Roya a long, hard look.
As a leader in the Revolutionary Army, she knew Roya was the one who'd suggested stealing the Celestial Tribute for Dragon.
Has it really been that long, and he wants it back already?
"The Celestial Tribute is right here with me!"
Betty confessed without hesitation.
The loot taken from each sea area was used to support the local armies, not sent back to Dragon on the Grand Line.
She knew she couldn't hide it from Roya anyway.
Besides, Roya's feelings about the Revolutionary Army were complicated, but she figured he didn't see them as enemies.
He's probably trustworthy enough.
Betty frowned, finding Roya's actions confusing. "Mister Black Hair, are you planning to take the Celestial Tribute back?" ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"Of course."
Roya nodded.
He'd made a promise to Marshal Sengoku, and he had to keep his word. He was a Marine, after all.
Betty's face fell. The Celestial Tribute was a mountain of cash, essential for the revolution in the East Blue.
But she didn't want to fight Roya.
"Don't worry, I don't want all of it."
Roya chuckled, seeing her unease. "I only want eighty percent of it. You can keep the other twenty."
Betty said nothing.
Even twenty percent was an unimaginable fortune, but no one wants to hand over money they already possess.
Roya understood this. No one would be happy getting nothing in return, but he didn't want the Revolutionary Army working for free.
"In return, I have a task I want to entrust to the Revolutionary Army."
"What is it?"
Betty was wary.
Is he trying to call this work a donation?
Roya asked, "You know about the concerts I've been holding, right?"
"I do."
Betty nodded.
The Song of Peace had made the Revolutionary Army's work much easier. Uta's power was much stronger than her own Encouragement Devil Fruit.
She might even be a superior to me in some way.
That was why she was being so polite to Roya. At least he wasn't on the Celestial Dragons' side.
Roya nodded slightly and explained, "At the concerts, I said I'd use the money from ticket sales and other things to help the poor. You know about that, right?"
"I want to hand over all this money to the Revolutionary Army to manage. You're active in these oppressed areas, so you know better than anyone who needs help."
"Also, your Revolutionary Army's name is a bit too hot, so I want to create a charity called the 'Peace Association' under the band's name."
"All charity work will be done in the name of the 'Peace Association,' but you'll be the ones actually running it. I'll just oversee it."
"What do you think? Is that okay?"
Betty was stunned.
It was more than okay. This Mister Black Hair had thought of everything. The Revolutionary Army just needed to be careful not to reveal their identities.
"Why choose us?"
"Because I don't have the time or energy to do it myself."
Roya explained calmly, "A charity can easily be used by people with bad intentions and become something corrupt. In this world, the Revolutionary Army is probably the only one who can do this right."
"..."
Betty took a deep breath and bowed her head.
"Mister Black Hair, thank you for helping the world!"
"No need to thank me."
Roya waved his hand. "If you do a good job, our band will benefit. Honestly, I'm the one taking advantage of you."
"By the way, let's put the Peace Association's East Blue office on Glass Bead Island. Find some people with clean records as soon as possible. Pay the staff fair wages."
"Doing good isn't about sacrificing yourself. Like your Revolutionary Army, if you can't even provide for your people, you won't last long."
"That's all, then."
"As for the Celestial Tribute, please send it to the port on the South Bank by tomorrow morning."
---
The next morning.
The Frost Wolf Mini returned to Glass Bead Island, its cargo hold overflowing with cash - about eight billion Belly.
"Wow, that's a lot."
Roya sat on the treasure and contacted Headquarters using a Den Den Mushi.
"Marshal Sengoku, reporting in - we've recovered the Celestial Tribute."
"How much? Hmm, I'd guess about five billion Belly."
"What? That's only half?"
"Marshal Sengoku, you should be grateful I got half of it back. Do you know how hard I had to fight with the Revolutionary Army? That East Army Captain is a beast!"
"I suggest you raise her bounty!"
"Stop talking nonsense and send a warship over here now!"
"Click!"
Roya stretched.
He didn't really need the money. He wasn't interested in the money from the concerts, and he didn't have expensive tastes.
As for Vegapunk's research, Caesar's business brought in enough money to cover it, so that wasn't a concern.
But the World Government's money...
Heh, I'll take every chance I get!
