One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 245: Whitebeard Pirates, Don’t Insult Us With Money
Chapter 245 - Whitebeard Pirates, Don't Insult Us With Money
Deep in the New World...
"Black Hair is back!"
The word spread like wildfire. Roya was back, strutting his stuff in the New World, and nobody had forgotten his flashy entrance.
Everyone in the underworld knew he had received an invitation to Big Mom's Tea Party, and the whole world was waiting to see the fireworks.
Even a Marine Vice Admiral wouldn't dare snub Big Mom!
Then, the latest newspaper hit the stands, and a single announcement lit the New World on fire:
"Uta Concert - Honeycomb Island!"
Honeycomb Island. Right in the heart of the New World. The Whitebeard Pirates' turf. The biggest pirate haven on the planet.
In this era, Whitebeard was king. The strongest pirate in the world. Even though he was getting old and hadn't done much lately, his name still struck fear into the hearts of everyone in the New World.
Of the Four Emperors, only Kaido, the "Strongest Creature," could even think about challenging him. The other two were just smaller threats.
And here was Black Hair, planning a concert on Honeycomb Island. On the surface, it seemed innocent. But Black Hair was a Marine!
Wasn't this just a slap in Whitebeard's face?
Are the Marines planning to attack the Whitebeard Pirates?
Nobody had even whispered such a thing!
Even the Whitebeard Pirates were confused.
On the deck of the Moby Dick, Marco brought the newspaper to Whitebeard and the other Captains.
"Pops, what's going on?"
Whitebeard looked at the newspaper, scratching his head. "I have no idea either." He honestly didn't know what was happening or what Black Hair was up to.
But Marco and the others were big fans of Uta. They had been watching her concerts online lately.
Whitebeard mostly let people do what they wanted on his territory. As long as they didn't cause trouble, they were free to do as they pleased.
The pirates on the island had freedom.
So, there wasn't really any reason to stop Uta from coming to Honeycomb Island, but Black Hair's involvement made things complicated.
Whitebeard remembered Black Hair very well.
That kid is ambitious. He's definitely got something up his sleeve!
Just as everyone was guessing, a crew member ran up to them.
"Pops, Black Hair's messenger is here!"
"Gura rā rā! Bring him to me!" Whitebeard boomed. He was ready to see what Black Hair wanted.
Soon, Capone Bege arrived on the deck.
He looked at the massive Whitebeard sitting before him, surrounded by monstrous Captains, and his heart nearly stopped.
Regret! I feel extreme regret!
I shouldn't have messed with Black Hair!
Black Hair is a walking disaster. First, he killed a Celestial Dragon's subordinate, and now he's going to hold a concert at a Four Emperor's base. What is he afraid to provoke?!
Whitebeard stared down at Bege, the pressure almost making Bege buckle. "Gura rā rā! Why did Black Hair send you here?"
"Whitebeard!" Bege stammered, drenched in sweat.
"Vice Admiral Black Hair told me to tell you that this concert isn't meant to cause trouble. He just wants to borrow the space!"
"Gura rā rā! That damn Black Hair brat, does he think I'm stupid?" Whitebeard roared. He didn't believe it for a second.
Bege didn't believe it either, but he had no choice.
He wasn't just there to deliver a message; he also had to start making preparations for the concert.
I thought about running, but I gritted my teeth and stayed. If Whitebeard and Black Hair clash, it might be my chance!
"Whitebeard, I'm just the messenger!"
"Also, Vice Admiral Black Hair said that half of all the money made from Uta's concert will be given to the Whitebeard Pirates as a rental fee for Honeycomb Island."
Whitebeard frowned.
The pirates exchanged glances, looking unhappy.
"Is he trying to buy us off?"
"Damn Black Hair, how much can a concert even make?"
"He dares to underestimate us!"
"We like Uta, but this is about honor! We can't just hand over our territory to the Marines!"
The pirates grumbled, and the Captains looked angry.
Does he think we'd compromise for a little money? He's insulting us!
As the noise died down, Bege spoke up, "Based on past concerts, we expect to make about 1 billion Belly, so half would be..."
"A mere 1 billion..." Marco scoffed, ready to say they wouldn't be bought so easily, but then he stopped.
"Wait! 1 billion Belly?!" Marco's eyes widened.
The deck went silent as all the pirates stared at him in shock.
Did we... did we hear that right?
Do concerts really make that much money?
"That's right, 1 billion Belly," Bege confirmed. He frowned. It's just 1 billion Belly, why are they so surprised? Or do they think it's not enough?
Right, they're the Four Emperors. For normal pirates, 1 billion Belly is a fortune, but for them, it's just pocket change.
I underestimated the Four Emperors!
Bege steeled himself and continued, "1 billion Belly is a low estimate. If the publicity goes well, the concert could make 3 billion Belly. Half of that is 1.5 billion Belly."
"If you're still not happy, we can talk about the split. I can ask Vice Admiral Black Hair."
"But we can only give you 2 billion Belly at most. We'd lose money if we gave more. The rest will be invested in the Peace Foundation."
2 billion Belly!
Twice as much as 1 billion!
"Gulp!" The Captains swallowed hard, feeling like they were being slapped in the face with stacks of money.
We like it so much!
Please, hit us again!
2 billion Belly! The Whitebeard Pirates didn't even make that much in a year. If we had that much money, how good would it look!
The islands they protected were mostly filled with poor people. They didn't have much money and often needed help themselves.
Like Pops' hometown.
The Whitebeard Pirates made most of their money on Honeycomb Island and by looting treasure from defeated pirates.
But their crew was huge, so even when they got a lot of treasure, each person only got a little.
If we had 2 billion Belly!
We could buy a new sword!
We could get new clothes!
We could replace our old furniture!
We've wanted to throw out the old couch in the lounge for so long! The cushions are all lumpy, and it's not comfortable at all!
We're so poor!
The Captains all looked at Whitebeard, their eyes gleaming.
"Pops, we really want to see Uta's concert!"
"..."
Whitebeard was silent.
These hopeless sons!

Meanwhile, in the Southern Sea of the New World...
The warship sailed towards Honeycomb Island.
Red Hair should show up, right? Roya wondered, standing on the deck.
The Red Hair Pirates loved to explore and rarely stayed on one island, making it hard to find them.
So, he decided to hold a concert just for Uta to lure Red Hair out. There's no way he'll miss this.
As for why he chose Honeycomb Island...
It was a pirate paradise and a famous landmark in the New World. Of course, he'd pick a crowded place to put on a concert.
Roya turned and watched Uta practicing on a wooden dummy, a smile playing on his lips. He walked over to her.
"Uta, let me teach you!"
"See, the key to slapping someone is to be decisive and clean. That's what makes it look cool!"
"And aim for the face!"
