Chapter 1657: Chapter 1455: Little Zombie’s Achievement (Two in One)_2
"Whoosh!"
The enraged BOSS grabbed a massive boulder and hurled it at the Thunder Bat. Su Ran expertly controlled his clone to narrowly evade the attack, but the other Thunder Bat wasn’t so lucky—it was hit squarely by the giant rock, sent flying, suffered massive damage, and disappeared mid-air as a streak of white light.
"Hiss... What terrifying attack power!"
Even though it was just a clone, with over three thousand HP left, Su Ran hadn’t expected it to be instant-killed in one blow. Too outrageous!
"Can’t fight it head-on—strike its lower body!"
Su Ran had already made up his mind. As long as he could knock this big guy off balance and destabilize its footing, there was a chance it could tumble down the mountain. If that happened again, things would get much easier.
Unfortunately, no matter how much the Thunder Bat harassed the BOSS, it couldn’t stop its progress, let alone trip it. The Guardian showed no interest in the tiny Thunder Bat and charged quickly towards the middle of the mountain. It wouldn’t be long before it reached halfway up the mountain, and then Su Ran’s teammates would face complete annihilation!
"There’s nothing else I can do. Banana, you’re on your own now."
Su Ran couldn’t draw the BOSS’s aggro, which meant there might be something halfway up the mountain that held the BOSS’s interest—likely that strange rock. Su Ran couldn’t think of any other reason.
"Run, the BOSS is coming up!"
Su Ran’s vision returned to his actual self, spotting Xue Wuqing still unwilling to give up on attacking the rock. The explosions were loud, but they had no effect—not even a crack appeared on the rock, meaning all their previous efforts had been futile.
"Damn it!"
Xue Wuqing begrudgingly shot one last glance at the rock before yelling to Ling Wei, "Xiao Wei, hang in there! I’ll deal with the BOSS first. Don’t worry, I swear I’ll figure out how to get you out of here!"
"Wu Qing, you’re so unfair! I’m stuck here like Ling Wei too—why tell her to hang in there and totally ignore me?"
Banana was unwilling to let it go, arguing vehemently, stating he was equally a victim and warning not to underestimate him.
"How dare you even talk? If it weren’t for you, would things have gotten this dangerous? You can revive if you die—can Ling Wei do that? Is there any point in nitpicking over trivial things like this?"
Xue Wuqing fired off three questions in a row, refusing to waste words further on Banana. She took a few steps forward, leaving her back to him. What he thought about it? Whatever!
"Sigh, I’m basically like a plate of pickled fish right now,"
Banana sighed, seemingly talking to himself. "Sour, weak, and redundant. If I’d known things would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have tried to show off earlier..."
"Banana, what’s pickled fish? Is it tasty?"
Ling Wei found the term intriguing, her eyes lighting up with curiosity. Although she couldn’t move, it didn’t stop her from chatting. After all, there’s nothing wrong with killing time by talking, right?
"Of course it’s tasty! Once we’re free, I’ll make you some. I’ve got plenty of seafood in my inventory—it’ll be more than enough!"
Banana responded with a cheerful grin. "Not to brag, but I’ve got another profession as a chef. I can make steamed bass, braised carp, chopped chili fish head, stir-fried squid with scallions, boiled fish, codfish steamed with soy sauce and chili, pan-fried saury, sweet and sour beltfish—you name it. Too bad there aren’t enough seasonings in this god-and-demon world, so my options are limited. But I can definitely make you some grilled fish for a taste later."
"Wow, I had no idea there were so many ways to cook fish. I don’t care—I want to try every single dish, and you promised to keep me full, so no backing out!"
As soon as food became the topic, Banana’s eyes sparkled with newfound energy—it was clear his chef profession was something he deeply cherished. Ling Wei, being quite the foodie herself, was entirely captivated by the list of dishes Banana described, gazing eagerly at him in anticipation of savoring the seafood delights.
The two became completely engrossed in their shared enthusiasm for food, forgetting the dangers around them in their culinary reverie.
"Overturning Water, now I finally understand why Banana ended up with such a peculiar name—it turns out he’s a chef."
Xue Wuqing couldn’t help but chuckle at their conversation, finding her tension dissipating. "He rattled off so many dishes without repeating a single one; his cooking skills might actually be legit. When we have the time, we should definitely get him to whip up a feast and turn the tables on him for making us crave food so much!"
"Sure thing. My first pick will be caramelized bananas."
Su Ran chimed in casually, "Crispy bananas, banana oat rolls, banana egg crisp pie—all fine options too."
"Pfft, you’re so cruel!"
Xue Wuqing laughed softly. "Why not roast a whole banana skewer? It’d suit his extra padding better than anything too civilized..."
Black Abyss Lake’s Guardian, if it could overhear them, would’ve exploded with rage. A high-ranking elite amongst the Elven forces, it was pressing close to the mountaintop, yet its opponents still had the nerve to engage in idle chatter! The sheer lack of respect!
"Die! All of you, die!"
The Guardian, finally having sprinted its way from the base to the midpoint of the mountain, was visibly winded despite its robust physique. Its chest heaved, its breath labored, yet its fury peaked anew upon seeing yet another elf appear atop the bizarre rock. With an earth-shattering roar, it charged at the group of elves.
However, Su Ran’s meticulously arranged row of magical skeletons proved utterly useless—as fragile as paper, they were scattered and shattered on impact when the BOSS stormed through, with several breaking apart on the spot.
"Overturning Water, watch out!"
Seeing Su Ran enter the BOSS’s aggro zone, Xue Wuqing couldn’t help but cry out in alarm, hoping he wouldn’t come to harm while navigating this crisis.
"Don’t worry, I’ve still got a trump card!"
Su Ran grinned at Xue Wuqing, tightening his grip on his bone scythe. He still hadn’t deployed Ice Vortex; once he dragged this beast into the air, they’d stand an excellent chance of hurling it off the mountain again!
But then.
Something completely unexpected happened.
The little zombie’s eyes emitted an imperceptible wave as it seized an opportune moment to target the BOSS’s head while it was distracted. Unthinkably, the BOSS was hit directly by the skill, frozen in place as its overwhelming rage vanished without a trace.
"No way! Such an overpowering BOSS can be bewitched by Soul Bewilderment?"
Even as the evidence lay before him, Su Ran found it hard to believe. He had previously tested the Soul Bewilderment skill and deemed its success rate nearly zero on high-tier BOSSes. He hadn’t expected any effect at all—yet the little zombie had securely landed it, making it feel like a miracle!
"Boom Boom, nicely done! You’ve earned a massive achievement!"
Su Ran, noticing the Guardian hadn’t moved, finally confirmed that the creature’s commands had temporarily been overridden by the little zombie.
"Ugh ugh!"
The little zombie, elated by Su Ran’s praise, expressed its excitement by riding atop the skeletal centipede in dizzying circles.
"Overturning Water, what’s happening to it?"
Xue Wuqing couldn’t comprehend what was going on. The little zombie seemed utterly hyperactive, while the BOSS had gone from wrathful killing machine to placid statue. The sudden shift in tone was so abrupt, it left her bewildered.
"What else could it be? Sudden enlightenment?"
Su Ran chuckled and covertly directed the little zombie to make the Guardian leap off the mountainside. The BOSS surpassed all expectations by obeying as a tragic-yet-defiant gesture of defeat.
"Huh?"
Xue Wuqing stared at the spectacle in shock. The BOSS had labored uphill only to jump off the edge so easily—what was it thinking? Comic relief?
"Nothing to be surprised about—it’s a good thing it jumped. Now we don’t have to worry. Quick, figure out how to rescue those two. The longer this drags on, the more dangerous things get!"
Su Ran ended his sentence and turned his attention to the rock, only to realize the pair atop it were still engrossed in their culinary discussion, completely oblivious to the recent events.
Absolutely unnecessary concern! It’s like the emperor not being afraid while his eunuchs panic. Might as well pretend he hadn’t said anything...
Xue Wuqing also displayed a dumbfounded expression, unsure of what to say next.
