Chapter 1684: Chapter 1472: The Surprising Discovery (Two-in-One)
"Overturning Water, what do we do next?"
Qing Qi seemed a bit uncertain, staring at the chaotic pile of stone graves. "Are we saving your friend or not?"
"Don’t put it that way. I don’t have the honor of being friends with someone like that. And besides, your worries are unnecessary. His life is as tenacious as a cockroach’s. If those two BOSSes want to kill him, they’ll have to put in some serious effort."
Su Ran thought of the green hat player’s Five Elements Escape Technique—an absolute monster of a skill. Just catching the guy was already next to impossible, let alone killing him.
The green hat kid... man, that guy’s persistent. How many times had Su Ran killed him already? And he never learned his lesson. Could it be that he’s gotten his hands on another ancient treasure orb?
Well, wouldn’t that be lovely!
"Oh, right, you’ve fought him so many times. You must at least know his name, right? Running around wearing a green hat all day—isn’t he embarrassed?"
Qing Qi had obviously heard about the green hat player before. He was practically a legend on the forums—one of the top ten unsolved mysteries. No one knew his real name. His ghost-like movements had taken him from a nobody to the big shot he was now. Truly impressive!
Strangely enough, his trademark green hat wasn’t even some trend-following cosplay—it was about as unique as you could get on God-Demon Continent!
"..."
Qing Qi’s question left Su Ran stunned for a moment. Even after clashing with the guy so often, he really had no clue what his name was. Someone that forgettable, who’d have thought?
"Forget it, asking you is pointless. Nobody in all of Huaxia knows his name—he’s ridiculously mysterious."
Seeing that Su Ran didn’t have an answer, Qing Qi felt a little disappointed. But she quickly shrugged it off and asked curiously, "So, how did you piss him off so badly that he’s holding a grudge against you?"
"I dug up his family’s ancestral graves."
"Uh... okay, yeah, I can totally see you doing that."
Qing Qi thought about Su Ran’s obsession with graves and couldn’t help rolling her eyes. Smirking, she remarked gleefully, "Well, now all three of these stone graves are gone. Let’s see what you’ll dig up next."
"Who said there’s nothing left? Those stones haven’t disappeared. Perfect opportunity to test my luck!"
Su Ran chuckled mischievously, jumped into the pit, and grabbed his starter hoe, ready to start hacking away at the stones.
"..."
Qing Qi was left speechless. She no longer even wanted to make fun of his grave-digging fixation. To each their own, after all. There was no need to impose her preferences on others. If this made him happy, so be it.
If not for Su Ran, she would’ve already left to explore the underground tunnels. She was itching to see if the green hat player could survive being hunted by two BOSSes. Or maybe—even less likely—he’d manage to pull off a stunning reversal and take out both BOSSes. As unlikely as that was, it wasn’t entirely impossible.
For her, watching a BOSS fight was way more entertaining than watching someone dig graves...
The pit echoed with relentless "clang, clang" sounds, over and over, never stopping.
Su Ran had completely lost track of time, totally absorbed in his grave-digging. He shattered one stone after another, the expression on his face concealed by his mask—no telling if he was happy or annoyed. What puzzled Qing Qi was how his digging speed seemed to be improving without him even realizing it.
"Are there really treasures inside these stones?"
Qing Qi, watching Su Ran be so engrossed in his digging, started to waver. Her initial distaste turned into curiosity in under three minutes.
"Clang! Clang!"
Su Ran dug at the stones with all his might. He had to clear them out before the guardian BOSSes returned!
As he dug, system notifications popped up repeatedly. While most of what he unearthed were items like burnt paper offerings and incense—things of rather underwhelming value—it was still better than finding nothing at all. Plus, with so many stones to chip away at, he was bound to uncover something rare!
"Overturning Water, find anything good yet? Send me a screenshot!"
Qing Qi’s curiosity was reaching a boiling point. Her sixth sense told her that Overturning Water wouldn’t be putting in this much effort unless he’d already struck gold. It was enough to make her want to jump in and snatch a share for herself.
"These are all items for the dead. If I show you, you’ll have nightmares. Better not."
Su Ran chuckled but didn’t slow down his digging. In no time, he smashed another stone and moved on to the next, his transitions seamless, wasting not even a second. Perfectly timed precision.
"I don’t care! I want to see! Didn’t you say this is all just in-game and has nothing to do with reality? Show me! I’m not going to take anything from you. Ugh, you’re so stingy!"
Her curiosity burned like an itch she couldn’t scratch. She had to see for herself what treasures the stones were hiding. What could possibly make someone as skilled as Overturning Water obsess over grave-digging? There had to be a catch!
"Fine, take a look if you want."
Su Ran, unable to refuse her, finally stopped digging. He tossed out all the ritual items he’d just uncovered in one heap and generously said, "Take whatever you like, no charge. Just let me keep digging in peace!"
"Wait, what is this..."
Qing Qi stared at the bizarre assortment of items, utterly unfamiliar with these oddities. Fascinated, she couldn’t help herself. She jumped down into the pit, carefully avoiding the holes littering the ground as she approached the pile of loot. Curious, she asked, "What are these bricks even for? Bricks and paper from inside stones? Oh god, candles, too? This is way too ridiculous!"
