Chapter 1688: Chapter 1475: Inferior Quality BOSS

"Bang! Bang!"

Seeing Su Ran fall from the sky, the two stone monsters wouldn’t let this rare opportunity pass by. They charged forward with all their might, aiming to crush Su Ran while they had the chance.

"Heh, you really think I’m a pushover, huh?"

Su Ran held his forehead with one hand while raising his bone scythe with the other, slashing forcefully in the direction of the stone monsters and coldly shouting, "Time to test out my new move — Thousand-Mile Ice Seal!"

"Swish!"

The bone scythe gleamed with a cold light that rapidly spread through the air, enveloping both stone monsters in an instant. Critical hits were landed on them, racking up damage totals of 1188.

The insane attribute of ignoring defense was displayed in its full glory at this moment!

As if that wasn’t bad enough, both stone monsters were unlucky enough to trigger the freezing effect, transforming into two massive chunks of ice, frozen in their running poses—hilariously awkward.

Su Ran had initially planned to use this area attack to flush out the hidden Green Hat, but to his disappointment, not a trace of Green Hat could be found. This meant his gamble had failed.

Still, managing to freeze these two BOSSes was an unexpected win!

"Haha! Now it’s your turn to taste the flavor of fear!"

Su Ran grinned and pulled out a precious weakening talisman, tossing it directly onto the magic-resistant stone monster. No choice—the thing’s magic resistance was too high. He had to take it down first, leaving the remaining stone monster to worry about later.

Once the magic-resistant monster was hit by the weakening talisman, it immediately showed signs of fatigue, shrinking down in size until it was a whole head shorter than its companion. Su Ran wouldn’t waste such a golden opportunity. He unleashed fireball attacks at maximum frequency, bombarding the chunk of ice with a continuous series of explosions.

Even his clones—Thunder Bat, Ancient Venomous Flood Dragon, and Little Zombie—weren’t idle, all rushing at the stone monster. Without the defense buff in play, every attack shaved off a significant portion of the BOSS’s health.

The unlucky magic-resistant stone monster had already lost a fifth of its HP due to the freezing state. It was both furious and panicked, but these pesky pets swarming around it like flies wouldn’t stop. Enraged, it waved its stone arms wildly, trying to swat them all down.

"Come on, buddy! You’re a mage, and you’re using physical attacks? What even is that?"

Su Ran wouldn’t let his pets suffer heavy injuries. He swiftly unleashed Ice Vortex, sending both BOSSes spinning two meters into the air before slamming them back down. To his delight, the physically inclined stone monster wound up frozen again.

"Haha! Seems like heaven itself is rooting for me! Stone monsters, just accept your fate and die already!"

Su Ran deliberately shouted loudly, his gaze scanning the surroundings for Green Hat. How long did this guy plan to stay hidden? His patience was seriously impressive!

As the story unfolded without surprises, the magic-resistant stone monster’s defense hit zero. It couldn’t rely on its HP for long and lasted less than thirty seconds before Su Ran and his pets mercilessly slaughtered it, reducing it to scattered chunks of stone on the ground.

The physically inclined stone monster was even less capable of resisting magic attacks. Without ranged attacks of its own, it was no match for Su Ran either. After a short while, it too met the same fate as its companion, perishing in defeat.

"Hey, Green Hat buddy! The BOSSes are dead. Aren’t you coming out yet? If you don’t show yourself, I’m heading out!"

Su Ran was tempted to suit up in the Death Sedge Cloak and use the Break Invisibility skill to scour the area, forcing the guy out of hiding.

Unfortunately, doing so would be digging his own grave—the exposure would compromise his dual identities.

"I’ve already spotted you! Still hiding?"

To Su Ran’s surprise, even after all his shouting, the Green Hat player didn’t respond, as if they didn’t exist at all. This left Su Ran with a trace of suspicion. Could it be that the guy hadn’t followed him here at all?

"Oh no, Qing Qi might be in danger!"

Su Ran’s heart skipped a beat. Green Hat was ruthless enough to target a woman? Then again, even if Qing Qi got killed, it wouldn’t affect much—the mission item, the Stone Core, was already secured. There was no need to re-enter the quest space. He could just turn it in and complete the job.

This was what Su Ran had decided, regardless of what Qing Qi might think. As far as Su Ran was concerned, it was fine.

With that, Su Ran had no intention of lingering any longer. He jumped to the ground and, not wanting to waste anything, collected all the scattered stone shards from the magic-resistant monster’s corpse. These were required for crafting Soul Incense and would come in handy eventually. After finishing that, he turned his attention to the loot dropped by the BOSSes.

A treasure map, a silver treasure chest, a handful of gold coins, a few potions—and that was it.

"What the... Seriously? Two BOSSes, and this is all the loot? That’s way too stingy!"

Su Ran skeptically searched the area more thoroughly, but had to come to terms with the absurd truth. Neither BOSS had dropped any gear—what a scam!

"Qing Qi! Where are you?"

Su Ran sent a message to Qing Qi but was surprised to discover that she was in a special space and unable to receive messages. Although he was shocked, he also felt relieved. If the system said so, it meant Qing Qi wasn’t in immediate danger. As for her whereabouts, Su Ran had no clue.

"Guess I’ll retrace my steps. No way I won’t find her!"

To Su Ran, this space didn’t seem to have other pathways. If he walked back the way he came, he was bound to find Qing Qi. Besides, if she had gotten into a fight with Green Hat, there’d surely be commotion, which would make locating her easier.

But.

Even after Su Ran returned to the starting point, Qing Qi was nowhere to be found. This puzzled him greatly; the area wasn’t that big, so where could she be hiding?

Could it be... there was a hidden mechanism in this terrain?

If that were the case, this was going to be a hassle.

Su Ran was completely at a loss for clues, let alone figuring out how to search.

"No choice. Buddy, it’s not that I don’t want to help—I just genuinely don’t know where you are. Qing Qi, you’ll have to look out for yourself."

He temporarily gave up the search and hovered in the air, staying alert for Green Hat’s ambush while waiting for any sign of Qing Qi. Bored stiff, he took out the treasure map and silver treasure chest for closer inspection. The chest was locked, and without a silver key, having the chest was pointless. His only hope lay in the treasure map.

"Hmm? What’s this...?"

Su Ran was surprised to find that the map was specifically for this unique stone space. It could only be used here and would disappear upon leaving. If he hadn’t noticed this earlier, he might’ve missed it entirely.

"Well, I’ve got time anyway. Let’s dig up the treasure!"

Su Ran didn’t dare delay further. If Qing Qi ended up dying and the system space kicked him out, things would get awkward. Better to make use of the time now and dig up the treasure before anything else!
