Otherworldly Desert Dust-Chapter 543 - 498: Black Angel Army
"The horn has sounded; all we need to do now is wait quietly." Dai Jing made her way up the dilapidated staircase to the observation tower of the fortress.
From this tower, the lavish palaces resembled the Snow Mountain Holy Halls, their lights shining brightly, with golden fireplaces that would never go out—warm, clean, and comfortable...
Yet on the other side of the Snow Mountain, there was not even a drop of uncontaminated water. The average lifespan of the common people dwelling there was less than forty years. If they couldn't find resources to evolve themselves, they would quickly age and die amidst various radiations, mutations, diseases, and filthy air, often without finding any peace in death.

Dai Jing was born here but had long since grown to despise this land.
She knew that the mutated creatures were endless.
She also understood that real, clean evolutionary resources were only held by those in the Life Group, who, in their pursuit to evolve nobles into Tenth Rank Life and demigod clans, emitted massive amounts of biochemical waste and conducted rampant life experiments, creating beings like Black Angels, Corpse People, and Illusion Form Warriors that were abhorred by gods, unable to find redemption, souls fallen, beyond the cycle of rebirth.
That's why she knew better than anyone: any life that was born on this land suffered from a vicious curse, with the curse's source being those behind Snow Mountain. They exiled living beings to that harsh environment to search for precious resources to condense into Life Pearls. They also bred a multitude of mutated creatures, leaving them to compete and kill, to evolve into superior Emperor Seeds, and then capturing them to conduct various life experiments...
"Since you killed the Corpse Queen, you must have seen the final form of the Mutant Condensed Liquid." Dai Jing heard Wu Hen's voice as he approached the high ground.
The others had already taken refuge in the fortress. After all, the Mutant Royal Species surging from the direction of the Snow Mountain were quite terrifying. Most of them had the strength of the Corpse Queen, beyond their capacity to deal with.
"Yeah, Mutant Beads." Wu Hen nodded.
"What are your thoughts?" Dai Jing asked.
"It's like alchemy. Use biochemical techniques for the formula, murderous genes as the fire, and the bodies of those mutated creatures as the cauldron, eventually refining into Mutated Golden Cores." Wu Hen said.
From Condensed Liquid to Condensed Beads.
This is a constant process of refinement.
Wu Hen likened it to Cultivation to succinctly interpret the Law of this entire Wasteland.
And who crafted this Law—that was what Wu Hen was most concerned about. Was it Cangling of the past, or his subordinates?
"You see very clearly," said Dai Jing.
"Since the Mutant Beads are refined like this, I can boldly surmise how the Life Pearls are formed..." Wu Hen said.
As he spoke, a Titanium Alloy Lion-man, its entirety covered with titanium alloy, leaped onto their observation tower. Its size wasn't huge, but its metal muscular contours were perfectly sculpted. Its mane, composed of sacred fibers of an unknown material, made an awe-inspiring sight—forcing one to marvel that a life which had evolved to perfection through mutation had actually transcended the realm of aliens and seemed more like a species crafted by gods themselves!
This Titanium Alloy Lion-man clearly noticed the two people below.
It looked down upon them, then scanned them with its red eyes.
After scanning, the Titanium Alloy Lion-man seemed to show a trace of fear, and then it abruptly leaped forward, towards the Black Citadel.
"It knows fear, after all. Does it realize your threat, or am I more terrifying?" Dai Jing chuckled lightly, calm and composed, as if watching a small dog passing by.
Wu Hen didn't engage with her about this topic and continued to talk about Life Pearls: "In the ruins of the Blood Lake Base, we saw a large number of Illusion Cells, which must be the waste product from the extraction of Life Pearls."
Dai Jing didn't continue the conversation either; she didn't seem too eager to discuss the formation of Life Pearls.
"It's certainly brave. I hope it can take down at least three biochemical bionic Black Angels for me." Dai Jing's gaze followed the Titanium Alloy Lion-man, obviously preferring to admire the masterwork of battle she had instigated.
Roars deafening, as a thick Biological Cloud Storm had begun to gather over the Snow Mountain, surging into the realm behind the Snow Mountain along with the rolling avalanches—an unstoppable force of destruction.
Wu Hen eyed a giant Dragon Centipede rapidly slithering between the mountains—it seemed entirely made of diamond, and the breath it exhaled was of ice dust and snow diamonds.
Above this Dragon Centipede was a Winged Dragon, bearing the marks of a Wind God.
Beneath the wings of the Wind God Winged Dragon, thrusters had evolved. It absorbed the cold elements of the surroundings, erupting with Rapid Freeze airflows. When it appeared above the black Citadel, cold air struck, frosting the warm black Citadel with thick layers of ice.
From the borders of Snow Mountain, Wu Hen heard even more chaotic noises, from what kinds of Mutant Royal Species they were, he did not know. These once solitary and powerful kings of slaughter, as if heeding the call of some destroyer God, were entering a frenzy of slaughter, rushing towards the black Citadel regardless of the consequences.
The brilliantly lit black Citadel finally blared its alarms, technological shields layer upon layer protecting the Snow Mountain Guard City within. Then, one after another, life forms like black shadows of birds burst forth from the Citadel, assembling overhead. The black Crow's Wings glinted with the metallic chill of ice, their formation precise as if programmed, guarding every building of the black Citadel.
The first to surge into the black Citadel was the Titanium Alloy Lion-man.
Valiant, it pounced on a Black Angel from the sky, ready to snap its neck when two more Black Angels dragged it into the heavens.
Then, two additional Black Angels joined in, each seizing a part of the Titanium Alloy Lion-man's body, and the Transcendent strength of the Black Angels pulled fiercely in four directions!
Blood spurted out as the Titanium Alloy Lion-man was ripped into four, the four Black Angels even starting to gnaw at it on the spot. Whether it was metal bones or Biochemical Muscle, the Black Angels could digest it, adding energy to their evolution.
"This Biochemical Meat tainted with pathogens will only sully your sacred path of evolution," a man clad in Black Mandala Clothes said within the black Citadel.
Beside the man stood another, dressed as a Noble, none other than Marquis Changqiu who controlled the Wasteland's black market.
With a flattering smile, Marquis Changqiu said, "Black Sky Lord, it must be the traitor Dai Jing harassing us, biting off more than she can chew, like an egg against a rock. Should she dare to come, I'll have her chopped into a thousand pieces to feed my Hellhounds."
Black Sky Lord, however, paid no heed to Marquis Changqiu, analyzing the intelligence collected recently by the Black Shirt Organization. Those Illusion Form Warriors must be plotting a significant plan, so Black Sky Lord had been deploying defenses within the Citadel these past days.
"They poisoned the temple queen; this matter is not simple," Black Sky Lord's gaze was fixed on Snow Mountain.
From the perspective of the black Citadel at that moment, one could only see a terrible avalanche on Snow Mountain, while the Biological Cloud Storm above it was not so obvious, after all, any Snow Mountain would be topped with perennially bleak ice clouds.
Gradually, the Biological Cloud Storm began to move. The horrifying cap of Snow Mountain clouds actually assaulted towards the Citadel, causing even Black Sky Lord to frown.
Something is not right, something's amiss!
"Ha ha, that traitor Dai Jing wouldn't be foolish enough to think she can destroy us with a catastrophic climate, would she? Our Citadel can withstand even a Level 50 apocalyptic disaster. Such a scale of doomsday event couldn't possibly shake us. I think I'll return to the Royal City to enjoy a grape wine bath and then wait for the Black Angel Army to neatly arrange the Illusion Form Warriors' corpses in front of my palace…" Marquis Changqiu's Perception wasn't high; he couldn't see clearly what the swirling Biological Cloud Storm was.
The Biological Cloud Storm was formed by the breath of countless Mutant Royal Species, akin to a layer of resentful atmosphere, making it impossible for outsiders to discern what exactly lay within, like an undead empire revived within the desert. As they moved in one direction, they would create a sand dust storm, and observers would only see the common sight of flying yellow sand, mistaking the storm as merely wind.
Some of the faster and more bloodthirsty Mutant Royal Species had already appeared in front of the Biological Cloud Storm, clashing with the first batch of Black Angels that flew to the sky.
The average strength of the Black Angels was slightly lower than these Mutant Royal Species, yet their combat ability was exceptionally comprehensive. Moreover, as they were all bioengineered life forms, with clear division of labor like a hive, when they formed walls of Black Angels, even several powerful Mutant Royal Species couldn't harm them.
Finally, the Biological Cloud Storm completely surged over Snow Mountain, rushing with the avalanche towards this Holy Hall Realm, and more and more silhouettes of Mutant Royal Species became clearly visible in Black Sky Lord's line of sight.
"Quick, release the Ultimate Species Life Detectors!" Black Sky Lord immediately issued the command to the higher reaches of the Citadel.
Atop the Citadel was an Observation Tower, where someone promptly launched a Life Detector.
This Life Detector would emit Light Dye Liquid, and as soon as it detected a murderous life with the strength of an Ultimate Species, it would instantly light up a red flare there!
The detector burst open the Light Dye Liquid, staining murderous life forms within tens of kilometers in an instant.
Suddenly, red lights flared, dense spots of light in an instant formed a blood-red sun of staggering visual impact, its blinding brilliance terrifyingly rolling towards the black Citadel!!
"My God!!!" Marquis Changqiu was so scared he fell to the ground.
Tens of thousands of Mutant Royal Species!
Why would these Emperor Seeds, like an army enlisted, rush head-on towards this hidden Citadel without looking back??
Black Sky Lord took a sharp breath, his gaze somber, his visage icy, veins bulging at his neck.
"Black Angels, slaughter all these bastards!" Black Sky Lord gave this command dispassionately, his voice trembling slightly from the anger suppressed within.
