"They really didn't notice a thing… Huh? They really are too easy to distract"

"They surely planned to take appropriate actions, but Xaltar's intervention served to put them on edge due to the power he suddenly demonstrated, and also to cause paranoia as he was able to seemingly enter their fortified city and make his way to their leader without anyone noticing a thing, everyone is now much too worried expecting an attack at any time to do any proper work"

"I know that… No need to explain it all"

"I am merely speaking so that we do not appear to suspicious whilst we sit here"

Maliah and Loimos was swiftly, and most casually entered back into the half of this realm where the living ruled at the same time as Xaltar, one of Irlanx's general of sorts, invaded this place to deliver the message, their presence and arrival might have been noticed in other circumstances, but right, people did nothing but stare up at the gaping hole that had been left in the central building, symbol of their strength and influence, so easily charred by the attack of a single restless.

Also, most were too absorbed in getting themselves ready for what they expected to be an utter bloodshed of a confrontation, the livings and restless had not had a proper clash like this for perhaps a thousand year, the last dating as to when Alistel and Xacobus fought one another without either coming out on top, since then, both had probably changed tremendously, and so, despite everyone seeming convinced that their leader could not be defeated by anyone, a gnawing unease nestled into their hearts.

The greater elites of the livings had gathered with Alistel, and were currently having a meeting, although the number of true elites was only five counting Alistel, it was actually more than the restless who only had four counting Irlanx.

And it was common knowledge that a living in this realm who had mastered their soul power was above a restless supposedly on the same level, the other side had many more troops overall however and a wide variety to them as well, so truly, the odds seemed even.

But obviously, there were two unknown quantities…

"It can't be that suspicious to sit silently with a girl, right? But I suppose that it is best to look like we are discussing what happened like those fools" she rested her face in the palm of her hand.

"When can we start slaughtering?" asked Maliah.

"When Xacobus makes his appearance, he will open a rift above the city and drop giant restless down to create some chaos as his generals spread around undetected and pick off the living elites whilst all of the others simply rush into the city and engage the livings"

"Remember, your role is critical, as long as you can do it, victory should be made much easier"

"That plan of yours is incredibly foul, honestly, it is impressive how a total lack of emotions makes you look like a genocidal bastard without any honour, makes me jealous…"

"You would like to become an undead ahead of schedule, after all?"

"Hell no, I can't die outside of combat, that would be garbage… And I would be way too strong as an undead to find a good opponent at all…"

"You already suffer from a distinct lack of proper opponents"

"Stop stating facts… Even if I find one here, it will feel bitter since I don't have access to my armoury and can't fight like normal, it will just feel like when I hold back to torture people, it might be funny, but I crave getting my bones broken and insides blasted out against an opponent I can neither easily defeat, nor am completely powerless against… Aaaah… Just imagining makes me feel so-" Loimos raised his hand and covered her mouth.

"-What's that for?!"

"The livings are looking at you weirdly, do avoid imagining your death scenario in public"

"Heh… Don't worry, they probably just think you said something exciting to me… By the way, you are technically alive right now, in this body I mean"

"If we consider that a parasite in full-control of the host, shares said host's attributes, then yes"

"Mmh… I see, forget what I said…" the assassin narrowed her eyes like something most obscure and untold went through her deranged mind before changing subject.

Now, Loimos could not forget even the slightest bit of information and had probably already understood what was going on inside of Maliah's cranium, as even humanity's most twisted member held no secret to the pure undead, especially since he and her had been around one another for a very long time now.

Although it was hard to tell considering that one was a corpse since the start and the other did not seem to age at all, be it physically or mentally.

"...Anyways, why is it up to me to do that mission? You might be severely weakened here, but with your absurd ways, you can still basically do the same stuff as always by using the local ways of power, you should still be more powerful than me" she leaned back on the bench they sat upon, looking at the denizens scrambling around like they were late somewhere or walking as though the weight of the entire world pressed on their shoulders, there was something enticing about populations awaiting a grim future.

"Overall, I may still be stronger than you, but currently, you definitely are the stealthiest and your energy trait and constitution make it so that people here underestimate you, also, although I have already made incredible progress in this realm's ways of power, I have not completely cracked its inner workings and such, I am bound to using soul energy to make everything function still, which makes you a better match-up as you do not rely on it"

"I don't know why I bother even questioning you, have you ever been wrong in your existence, Loimos?"

"Since I have been damaged and failed to kill livings on a number of occasions, I would say that I have made plenty of mistakes"

"You count your days of being a weakling and failing as mistakes? Then what's your biggest mistake? Mine was when I had just started as an assassin and I missed my target because I got too enthralled in gutting the rest of his family"

Loimos just continued to act the same as he responded.

"At the very beginning, not long after I was spawned in the depth of a dungeon, I began spreading death in the nearby village, I did not yet fully understand livings, I believed that they would always prioritise their own life over all else, not yet familiar with the fact that livings did not always act rationally"

"I failed to kill a young living because of that, and I created something that could prove problematic, that mistake is especially great for I understood that fact too late, after I had missed an opportunity to swiftly end that living, and when I had another occasion to do so, I failed to"

"Three times I failed"

And this was why Loimos intended to be there for the day the Emerald Realm lost its greatest protection and could no longer reject the undead.
