Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead-Chapter 691 - Look Who’s Back, Back Again

691: Look Who’s Back, Back Again
“Attack together!
Don’t let him through-” the speaker’s voice stopped as his head was turned into a splatter on the wall by a sudden kick.
“Damned monster!
Die!” seeing fellow warriors be turned to mince meat and having their bodies separated into multiple parts, a soul beast manifestation didn’t hesitate any longer and called forth a white ox forth through a blast of blue sparks, the creature just small enough to not get stuck in the hallway as it was instantly sent barrelling forth toward the enemy.
Who merely pointed his jian forward, the blade bursting forth right through the manifestation’s skull, it’s lifeless form still carried enough momentum to continue moving forward, but it vanished with the same sparks that had brought it there, revealing the figure of its summoner twitching, the sword’s blade going right through his chest.
The blade was retracted, the only thing that had kept him standing was gone and his corpse crashed down with a miserable sound.
The man who had killed all of these people didn’t make as much as a noise and showed no reaction on his face, absolutely nothing, like all feelings and emotions had been taken away.
Loimos walked forward, the main building was full of warriors, some were hiding, some sought to defend this place from the restless, their reasons did not matter as the undead in living flesh slayed all that he encountered, it would certainly be efficient to just render this entire place upside-down, but the architecture should be maintained, the realm would be accepting of undead from the empire immediately, so leaving the new members of the nation with their infrastructure ruined wouldn’t be quite right.
It was best to foster good relations from the start, so that Carnifex wouldn’t have to hunt down too many of those who live in death…
Soul object manifestators, soul beast manifestators, soul object binders, soul beast binders…
Loimos had encountered and slaughtered plenty of those already.
The binders were the weakest, not because their ways of power were inherently lesser, but due to the fact that they required quality goods to bind with to properly express their soul powers, an item or beast of good quality that also suited the user, finding something like that was pretty much impossible without proper guidance and much knowledge.
Few of them had done as much as demonstrate the first step to Loimos, even as he allowed them to use their best attacks before cutting them down.
The manifestators tended to be stronger for certain, although learning how to manifest was much more difficult that binding something, the results were better as something manifested from the soul was naturally suited for the user, it couldn’t always be suited for combat, but it wasn’t much of a problem.
The beast manifestators were plentiful despite the fact that when it came to the elite, it was solely occupied by object manifestators, probably due to the fact that one who controlled a beast naturally relied on it, and thus ended up becoming not that strong in combat, everyone with basic thinking would know to target the master instead of the beast, and often, they wouldn’t have much means to defend themselves once you bypassed their soul pet.
Those who fought with their own bodies, weapon in hand just handed up more balanced and would brush up with danger more often by sheer proximity to the enemy, which was why the livings using the way of object manifestation were the ones most common to use the first step and even the second one for a few.
But something was rather weird, Loimos had not encountered a single soul depth manifestator, he had heard of them plenty of times, so they did exist, and yet, they were nowhere to be found, although, it was certainly worth mentioning that the conversations he had spied on to learn about their existence had never been spoken very loudly or mentioned any particular user of this way of power.
But Loimos had asked Irlanx about it, and he had said that they had been a part of the first and only other confrontation between living and restless, so it felt as though their absence was not very natural.
A living tried to strike him from the shadows, using the first step of his manifested weapon to merge with them, a handy ability but one that failed to hide life force.
Without acknowledging that the living was noticed by him, Loimos grabbed the warrior by the face and brought his fist down on the attacker’s hands, leaving many fractures on top of knocking the weapon down.
“Tell me about soul depth manifestators” he asked calmly.
“No” the warrior tried punching Loimos in the face, which only resulted in his strike being blocked and wrist snapped.
“Tell me about soul depth manifestators” he repeated in the same exact tone.
“I don’t know, only the elites do-”
A sword was slowly driven into his guts.
“Aaaah!
They are kept underground from birth and prevented from carving their unique glyph into their souls ever since the rebellion…” finally admitting to something that all knew, but none felt willing to openly speak of, Loimos dropped him to the ground.
“My thanks” and with a swing of his hand, cut his head off, sending it rolling on the ground, it was important to thank future allies before sending them to the waiting room.
Loimos continued to scour the halls of the central building like an executioner, the warriors were certainly brave to try and keep on blocking his path, but they reeked of fear, and their movements were easily predicted.
In the enclosed space of this building, they also didn’t have much room to manoeuvre, leaving them to be easily skewered by his extending blade, leaving behind walls and ceiling painted red with blood, heading down to the underground area.
However, as he reached a large room meant for the training of promising warriors, Loimos suddenly stopped, he knew very well that the so-called underground was hidden behind the wall right in front of him, although his darkness awareness was pitifully weak compared to normal, he could tell that there was a staircase awaiting on the other side.
Loimos had told Maliah that she would be facing the right hand of Alistel because she was a better match, which was true, but the firstmost reason was because he knew that he wouldn’t have been able to actually fight her due to one simple reason.
“You may reveal yourself, since you so desire” turned around, the undead champion was faced with a familiar sight.
“Your ability is truly impressive, you seem to be able of infiltrating just about any place you wish, that ability would be useful to the empire”
“I am not ready to die, as all of us livings are- But are you ready to cease existing, Loimos?”
“Naturally” Loimos’s unfeeling gaze was directed at the man whose presence here was simultaneously hardly understandable and utterly predictable, after all, he wouldn’t miss an occasion to strike whilst Loimos was weakened.
