Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten-Chapter 254: The Three Little Ones Under the Light
Lin Zhengran left the inn with Jiang Xueli and Han Wenwen to look for a good place to eat nearby.
Back in the room, Little He Qing was still sound asleep by herself. No one noticed that, immersed in her dream, Little He Qing’s brows were slightly furrowed. She seemed to feel a faint burning sensation spreading slowly through her body.
The minor blemishes on her face were gradually fading. Her previously dry lips were turning soft and rosy, and even the tiny pimple on her forehead was slowly disappearing, though the process was quite slow.
“Lin Zhengran...”
Meanwhile, Lin Zhengran, Han Wenwen, and Jiang Xueli wandered the streets and found a popular rice noodle shop.
While waiting in line, Han Wenwen took out her phone from her pocket and used it as a mirror to check her face.
Ever since her skin became a little smoother, it didn’t seem to have changed again after today’s nap. Staring hard at every tiny detail, she could still spot a few pores and imperfections. It wasn’t perfect.
Could it be... Brother Zhengran’s help didn’t work on her?
Maybe she needed to actually eat something delicious for it to take effect?
Stuck between the two, Jiang Xueli glanced back at Han Wenwen holding her phone up, but didn’t think much of it. It was totally normal for girls to care about their looks.
But her mind kept circling back to what He Qing had said in her sleep. She looked at Lin Zhengran standing in front of her and said on impulse, “Zhengran.”
Lin Zhengran turned around. “What is it?”
Jiang Xueli hadn’t meant to say it out loud. She stammered, unsure how to phrase her question. “N-No, it’s nothing…” freewebnσvel.cѳm
Lin Zhengran raised an eyebrow. “Just say it.”
Jiang Xueli forced a smile. “Really, it’s nothing. I just wanted to call your name. You’re still going with me to the competition, right?”
“Of course. When have I ever gone back on my word?”
She smiled and shook her head. “Never.”
When it was Lin Zhengran’s turn to order, he asked for four bowls of rice noodles.
Jiang Xueli added, “Boss, no spice in mine.”
The three of them bought the noodles and headed back to the inn.
He Qing was still snoring away sweetly in bed.
Han Wenwen looked a little puzzled. “Did Xiao Qing not sleep well last night? She’s really out. Still not up.”
Lin Zhengran placed the packed dinner for her on the side. “She must really be tired. Let’s eat first. She can eat whenever she wakes up.”
The girls responded, and the three of them sat around the inn’s dining table, quickly finishing their noodles.
Around six in the evening, Lin Zhengran returned to his private room.
Han Wenwen was preoccupied with what would happen later that night. She lay on the bed, unable to even focus on her phone, just waiting quietly for the second half of the night to arrive.
Jiang Xueli wasn’t in the mood to play on her phone either. After dinner, she just sat on the bed, staring blankly at the bedsheet.
Totally dazed.
For a while, the room felt unusually quiet compared to the night before—only the hum of the air conditioner could be heard.
Han Wenwen turned to Jiang Xueli. “Lili? You’re not on your phone either? What are you doing sitting there?”
Jiang Xueli looked over. “You’re not on yours either. Should we turn off the lights and sleep?”
Han Wenwen let out a small sound of agreement. “Sure, let’s sleep early. The rain’s stopped anyway, and we’ve got to go camping tomorrow. Hiking’s gonna be tiring.”
“True. Goodnight.”
So, a little after six, Jiang Xueli got off the bed, turned off the light, and lay down under her blanket.
Han Wenwen closed the windows and pulled the curtains shut.
They could faintly hear the sounds of tourists outside and the occasional footsteps in the hallway, but inside the room, the four of them really did start to sleep.
Han Wenwen turned onto her side, pulled out her phone, and checked the time.
It was only six in the evening.
Originally, the little fox was planning to convince everyone to sleep early tonight. Ideally before ten, so once Xiao Qing and Lili were both asleep, she could sneak into Brother Zhengran’s bed for some cuddling.
The more time she had, the better.
But now it looked like heaven was on the little fox’s side!
Xiao Qing had been sleeping since the afternoon and still hadn’t woken up, and Lili didn’t look like she was planning to stir up anything either. So tonight... wasn’t this the perfect chance to head into Brother Zhengran’s bed earlier?
Ten o’clock... no, maybe nine-thirty. Just hold out a little longer until Lili is fast asleep, then go.
...
By seven in the evening, it was completely quiet. The air conditioner hummed softly.
...
At eight, still no sound except the light breathing of the girls.
In her sleep, He Qing let out a soft, whimpering sound.
...
By eight-thirty, there was the faint rustling of Jiang Xueli turning over.
...
At 9:10 PM, the seemingly sleeping little fox lay curled up under her blanket.
Her fox-like eyes slowly opened, sharp and alert, staring at the curtain. She kept her phone hidden under the covers to avoid even a sliver of light escaping, checking the time.
Forget the 9:30 plan. She was going now!
She first turned slowly to check on Xiao Qing and Lili.
Everything looked normal.
Moving with extreme care, Han Wenwen lifted her blanket and sat up. She propped her pillow up vertically and covered it with the blanket to make it look like someone was still lying there.
She didn’t even dare put on her slippers, afraid they’d make noise and wake the others.
Barefoot, she stepped onto the floor.
Swallowed nervously, then crept slowly toward Lin Zhengran’s room.
Since both Jiang Xueli and Little He Qing were facing away from her, it was almost foolproof.
Biting her lower lip, she gently twisted open the doorknob to Lin Zhengran’s room and slipped in silently.
But right at that moment—what a coincidence—
He Qing’s eyes groggily fluttered open. She’d been woken up by the urge to pee. Half-asleep, she got out of bed and, not finding her slippers, just walked barefoot to the bathroom. She couldn’t hold it anymore.
She pushed open the bathroom door, which hadn’t been fully closed, and relieved herself. But when she tried to flush, she couldn’t find the button.
There was a little panel above it in this hotel bathroom, and she had touched the panel instead.
She blinked, confused and half-awake. “Where’s the flush button?”
She stood up and went to turn on the bathroom light.
But just before she did, her gaze accidentally landed on Han Wenwen’s bed.
Something looked off.
He Qing wasn’t the sharpest thinker, but instinctively, she chose not to turn on the light. She walked over to Han Wenwen’s bed and found she wasn’t there—only a propped-up pillow under the blanket.
All her recent suspicions flared up at once. Little He Qing immediately turned to look at Lin Zhengran’s room.
She slowly twisted the doorknob and peeked inside.
At that moment, the little fox was silently standing beside Lin Zhengran’s bed, watching him sleep, clearly about to wake him up in some sneaky way.
Her lips were already moist, her eyes suggestive.
But just as she was about to lift the blanket—
The door creaked open, and He Qing stepped in.
The little fox turned her head at the sound. He Qing’s eyes widened as she made out Han Wenwen’s figure in the dark.
And then, the main room’s light suddenly came on.
It was Lili who had gotten out of bed and flipped the switch.
She had been startled awake by He Qing’s “Where’s the flush button?” and had just happened to see He Qing open Lin Zhengran’s door. She quickly got up and turned on the light.
Now, with the lights on, everything was out in the open.
The little fox stood frozen beside Lin Zhengran’s bed, staring blankly at He Qing.
“Xiao Qing…”
Standing at the doorway, fully awake now, He Qing stared at Han Wenwen, who was clearly up to something.
“Wenwen, why are you in Lin Zhengran’s room…”
Then, under the full glare of the lights, He Qing turned to look at Jiang Xueli behind her.
Jiang Xueli stared at He Qing, dazed and jealous, and blurted, “He Qing?”
Lin Zhengran, of course, had woken up too. Sitting up in bed, he looked at the three girls, now standing in a line, staring at each other.
