Industry had come to Germany at a rate faster than ever before perceived possible by even the greatest of economists around the globe. And the reason for that was simple…. Bruno had done the unthinkable and brought forth future knowledge of how the world would one day come to work, and spent decades laying the foundations for it across the Reich.

But something else had changed with it. Since Nikola Tesla's theories were proven true, and functional, the city of Innsbruck, which was now the capital of the Grand Principality of Tyrol, had been under reconstruction.

Why was this the case? It was because it needed to be rebuilt, in a way that still respected the heritage and culture of the region, but also with regards to the new future Bruno and Tesla had created together.

The first major resonance tower had been constructed within the grand spire of Bruno's baroque palace. Once meant to house nothing but bells and a cross, now cradled by something stranger—a humming metal obelisk, alive with unseen power.

It was still classically beautiful. Austro-German craftsmanship—arched facades, gargoyles, wrought balconies of imperial pride—but from the crown of the palace rose a gleaming framework of brushed steel and brass, humming like it was alive.

The world expected the future to rise from glass towers. Instead, it bloomed from limestone, marble, and sovereign will. It was not the era of solar powered reinforced concrete and glass skyscrapers. No, the future of this world was a synthesis of what had been, and what could be, if humanity was not guided by petty greed.

And so too had the city of Innsbruck begun reconstruction, a city of light, in the darkness of the world, a living, breathing entity of power. While smoke and smog filled the air of the world's other greatest capitals, Innsbruck alone was clean and gleaming. A testament to a future beyond the foolishness of human nature and recklessness.

Since Bruno first came to assume his position as the Grand Prince of Tyrol, the city had immediately begun renovation in a way that allowed free, eternal, and clean power to spread throughout its borders. With the goal of eventually powering every home, every building, and every vehicle.

Streetlights become a functional blend of power transmission and illumination during the night, becoming pylons and nodes for the resonance tower to reach out to and kiss with its invisible electricity.

And the stoplights, invented with the perfection of traffic control in mind, now operated in much the same manner. If there was a place that could blend function with power transference, it was in the act of being retrofitted here and now as the 1920s slowly crept up on the world from afar.

Meanwhile, the roads and the very earth beneath the buildings were altered in a way that allowed for power to emanate from within. Redundancies were either currently in place, or in the process of being constructed on a citywide scale.

This included the likes of diesel-electric generators, backup battery installations, etc. To ensure that even if something were to occur to the resonance tower and its nodes, electricity would still function as intended within the city.

Bruno walked through the gardens of his estate, where flowers and trees were beginning to fade as autumn once more claimed their beauty so that winter may not steal their soul, was personal witness to these changes.

The spire illuminated as the sun began to set. A beacon of hope, casting sacred light upon the city below, and Bruno could not help but admire its beauty. He was not alone in this regard. Heidi gazed upon it, equally in awe and fear at what it could mean.

"Are you sure there won't be any problems with having this thing built into the structure of our home… I don't want to be the one to say I told you so… But if this turns to disaster in the years to come, I will be the first to remind you…"

Bruno chuckled as he pulled his wife in tightly, and assured her they weren't dealing with a toxic or radioactive substance like asbestos or radium, but rather pure and clean energy. Naturally, it was safely embedded into their palace in a way that would neither disturb their peace, nor their health.

"You know, if I didn't know any better I would say your pessimistic outlook on such beauty was greater than my own. But you are right to question this very real fear. Luckily for you, you married a man who has already thought about such things, and prepared for every possible contingency.

No, my dear, you need not worry about this tower affecting our home, our family, or our lives in any negative way. This is not some grim omen waiting to reap our souls, this is a beacon of light that keeps the demons at bay… This is our future, as a family, as a nation, and as a world, and we are looking at the first true functional display of this."

Heidi's distressed gaze faded as she nuzzled her head into her man's shoulder with a gentle expression on her loving face, accepting his arm around her shoulder, as she looked up at him, and remembered something that had occurred not long in the past, something she couldn't help but bring up.

"So then… Why were you, your architects, city planners, and engineers squabbling over this damn thing if it's not a danger to us or anyone else?"

Bruno looked down at his wife and smirked before informing her that such a discussion was not a thing she needed to worry herself about.

"That was a discussion between artists and engineers about whether practicality or aesthetics should be the principal factor in the tower's design and location. As much as I understand the utilitarian principles espoused by the engineers who made this tower possible. They forgot—we built cathedrals not just for gods… but for dreams. And this? This is my cathedral."

Heidi heard Bruno's words and thought silently as she gazed upon the ground spire, providing almost heavenly light upon the palace grounds, and the immediate vicinities while standing higher than any other building in the city, as the palace itself was built in a strategic location in the hills above the rest, a statement of its sovereign's majesty, and militaristic lineage.

When she gazed down on the lights of the city in the distance below, and back up at the tower, Heidi couldn't help but giggle as she realized just how much Bruno's words, while poetic in nature, matched the reality he had created. She then leaned in close and whispered something in Bruno's ears that only the two of them would hear.

"If this is your cathedral, then you must be its priest? Does that make me a nun? If so, father, I have a few sins I will need to confess, privately, in our room…"

Bruno stared at Heidi's seductive expression and hit her with the greatest response he could muster.

"Woman, you're not a nun… you're a damn temptress… And may God have mercy on my soul for the sins that I am about to commit with you!"

After saying that, Bruno picked his wife up in a style befitting of her royal status as princess and carried her to their bedroom throughout the incomplete palace and its interior. They would not re-emerge until the resonance tower dimmed beneath the pale gold of morning light and its new dawn.
