Re-Overlord: I Can Acquire Anything!-Chapter 75: Taking Over A Gang
Chapter 75: Taking Over A Gang
From there, the thugs led Igaris into a quiet alleyway. Probably toward their hidden hideout.
However, their eyes suddenly squinted with power as his figure became blurry.
"Such unnatural speed..." one muttered in his last moment of consciousness.
Igaris didn’t have any time to waste.
As such, without warning, he attacked like a lion among a flock of sheep.
It happened so fast and so abruptly that the thugs couldn’t even resist or scream before they were knocked out cold.
Igaris didn’t kill them. He only rendered them unconscious, then began channeling Acquisition Energy into their bodies.
After using his ability countless times, he had learned how to manage the flow, just enough to bind the soul and manipulate their mind.
He wasn’t Acquiring them fully.
Because he had no intention of letting these pathetic lifeforms pollute his Inner World.
He didn’t want them as subordinates, only as tools.
He was enslaving them, just as Evernight once told him.
Yes, they would become slaves. Not the soldiers in his growing army.
Minutes later, when they woke up, they all bowed their head out of fear and respect.
Their brain had been manipulated into thinking that Igaris was now their mysterious and powerful boss.
"Take me to your previous boss. And keep acting normal. You will introduce me as a Client with a big deal to offer for the gang. Understand?"
"Yes, Boss! We’ll do as you say," they replied in unison.
After that, they continued along their original path.
But not everything goes smoothly according to plan.
A hidden surveillance camera had captured the scene of Igaris subduing them.
"Did you see that, sir?" an astonished male voice echoed inside a control room filled with monitors.
The officer nodded. "Yes, I saw it. I never imagined the hidden surveillance devices we set up to catch gang activity with solid proof would record something this huge," he said, his eyes gleaming with exhilaration.
"Sir... did he just used one of those abilities the summoners possessed?"
"Yes... He is a Summoner. That meant one of them has already infiltrated Paradis. What could be bigger than this?
"That’s true, sir. This is going to send shockwaves throughout the Capital. And maybe we’ll finally get a promotion and a raise," another officer added, laughing.
___
Unaware of the looming danger, Igaris moved forward with his plan.
Before long, he found himself inside a building—likely a hotel or a temporary safehouse.
There was a receptionist at the counter. Upon seeing the group of thugs, the man discreetly pressed a hidden button beneath his desk.
A section of the wall slid open, revealing a hidden passage.
Igaris and the others walked in under the suspicious gazes of the staff.
But no one dared to stop the unknown guest. Most likely because of the group that accompanied him.
What they didn’t realize was that these men were no longer part of the gang. They now belonged to Igaris.
And that mistake would cost them dearly.
"Who’s this kiddo, Marco?" one of the guards stationed at the passage asked.
Marco grinned. "He’s a very rich client from the Capital, Drake. He wants to meet the boss."
The burly man, who had a mechanical arm, raised an eyebrow as he eyed the plainly dressed yet strikingly confident young man.
"Rich?" the guard scoffed. "Are you sure you’re not joking, Marco? This kid looks broke as hell."
Marco laughed. "Brother, haven’t you heard the phrase: A wolf in sheep’s clothing?. He comes from a noble family in the Capital."
"I see... Which family is he from? And what’s his business here? You need to tell us that before we let him meet the boss," another security guard added, still suspicious.
"Damn!"
Hearing the repeated questioning, the thugs behind Igaris growled:
"Motherfuckers, his background is too esteemed for lowlifes like you to know. Only the boss deserves to hear that."
"Yeah, you think we’d betray our boss after serving loyally for years? This is ridiculous!" freewebnσvel.cøm
"I know... You guys must be trying to snatch the customer from us." said one his slaves, eyes widening with realisation.
Their acting, their words, all was being manipulated through Igaris’ mind. He was constantly giving them instructions through the Dominant Soul Connection he had.
___
As the argument outside escalated, someone finally took notice. Their voices echoed faintly through the speakers in a room.
Inside a dimly lit room, a large man sat on a worn leather chair, smoking a thick cigar. His eyes, sharp and calculating, were fixed on the screen showing the scene at the checkpoint.
The man exhaled slowly, letting the smoke curl in the air as he studied Igaris.
"So this is the one causing all the noise," he muttered. "Looks like a kid, but those eyes... they’ve seen blood."
"Hehe.. Darling, you’re so sharp.." A female voice whispered seductively from behind
Ignoring her advances, he pressed a button on his chair.
Then, his voice crackled through the speaker above the guard post:
"Let them in."
"Y-Yes, Boss!" the guards responded instantly, straightening up like scolded dogs.
The wall slid open further, revealing the rest of the narrow corridor.
"Humph..."
Marco gave a smug glance toward the guards before leading Igaris inside.
They passed through several turns, deeper into the base. Dim lights flickered overhead. Pipes hissed with steam along the walls. The air smelled of oil, sweat, and secrets.
Finally, they entered a large chamber. It looked like a converted basement, with crude furniture and stolen goods stacked along the walls.
At the center sat the man with massive, muscular frame. There’s two women preparing drinks.
The boss had gray streaks in his thick black beard. His Synthetic left eye gleamed under the dim light, adorned with scars and burn marks from past battles.
"So," the boss said, tapping ash off his cigar. "You’re the noble brat with money to burn? You don’t look like much though."
Igaris stepped forward calmly, his expression unreadable.
"Looks can be deceiving," he replied calmly. "I’m here with an offer. One that might make you rich enough to forget this rat nest ever existed."
The boss narrowed his eyes, sizing him up. "You talk big for someone walking in without backup."
"I didn’t walk in without backup," Igaris said, turning slightly to indicate the thugs now standing behind him. "They’re mine now."
"....."
