The early morning sky over Starfall was painted with pale blue and amber streaks as the rising sun broke through the thin veil of clouds.

The streets were buzzing quietly with energy as general public and the warriors began their day in the beautiful city.

Huge billboard screens around the city were showing a timer, causing buzz among the passersby. Anticipation was building as everyone waited to witness another hunt mission. There had been rumors going on that a special team of elite warriors would be joining for this hunt.

What they didn't know was that these new elites were none other than Rune's teammates.

In the training ground of the warrior academy, the warriors selected for this particular hunt were gathered. Other than Rune and his team, there were only a team of six other warriors joining the hunt.

Rune was standing with his arms crossed while observing each warrior in front of him, including his team. He was back in his leader mode. something his teammates had missed seeing over the past decade.

For the first time in eleven years, these group of six was going on a mission again. This wasn't just about fighting. It was about reclaiming something they thought they had lost forever - purpose.

"Ready?" Rune asked.

"Hell yes," Kael smirked. "If I don't hit something today, I might explode."

Elandra rolled her eyes, fixing her shoulder strap. "Kael's been bouncing around like a kid all morning."

"I'm just… excited," he said with a grin before adding a little softly, "We are back."

Rune allowed a rare smile to tug at the corner of his lips. "Yeah. You are."

Moments later, Grace arrived at the gate with Davian and 2025. She was dressed in her usual sleek black hunting gear. Unlike the warriors, she rarely put on the armors as her simple looking gear was already much powerful than any other armor out there. Her long auburn hair was pulled back in a tight raid and she looked more than ready to take down some beasts.

"Good," she said. "You look ready."

"We are," Asher replied calmly. "Just give us the chance."

She tapped a few holographic buttons on the digital screen that appeared in front of her the very next moment. "The area you are going into has been cleared of all Class 8 and above beasts. Most you'll encounter are Class 5 to 7."

She paused, meeting their eyes one by one.

"This isn't because I doubt your abilities. I know how strong you all are. I have seen your training reports, and I have watched you spar with my best warriors."

There was a short, respectful silence before she continued.

"But you have been out of the field for over a decade. And as someone who leads hundreds into battle every week, I know it's not the strength that breaks a warrior after trauma. It's the first kill after too long. The first time blood touches your hands again."

No one argued with her theory, because they understood.

"We are not glass," Mira said gently as she stepped forward. "But… thank you."

Grace nodded. "Come back in one piece."

Rune walked over to her and squeezed her arm gently. And a quiet, unspoken thank you passed between them.

Davian handed out a few boosters that Dr. Kian gave him earlier. "Take these right before entry. It'll stabilize your energy output and speed up reflex coordination. Just a safety net."

With all preparations done, the team loaded into the flying jet that would take them to the border of the hunt zone. It was a mountainous terrain on the edge of Sector 18 of Country R.

The hunt was set up entirely for Rune and his team, the team of elite warriors from Starfall was just a backup if things went wrong. The latter was supposed to stay out unless they are needed to intervene.

The jet's flying speed was channeled by spirit stones, and that's why it took barely twenty minutes before they arrived at their destination even though it was thousands of kilometers away from Starfall.

The moment they all stepped out and felt the presence of the beasts, they were ready. The team immediately fell into formation as if the years hadn't passed at all.

They looked like a perfect team that complimented each other's shortcomings. And as they met the first wave of beasts, it became very clear why they were the number one elite team of Magik Realm.

They moved with deadly grace, slaying infected and beasts left and right. Their synergy hadn't dulled. It had only deepened, sharpened by years of surviving through pain and shared silence.

They were a force to reckon. And the beasts realized it as well pretty soon. However, there was nowhere they could run to, they never got the chance.

There were a total of seventy-two beasts, both Shadow and Monster, divided between Class 5 to 7. And a horde of about two hundred infected.

And all of them were wiped out within two hours.

The support drones recorded everything and relayed real-time footage back to Starfall where Grace, Dr. Kian, Davian, and the rest of the Starfall was watching.

"They are good," Kevin said as he kept his eyes glued to the screen.

"No," Davian corrected softly. "They are phenomenal."

Rune's team wasn't just skilled, they were on a level only a handful of Earth-born warriors could dream of. Their reflexes, their casting, the sheer adaptability in battle, it was a testament to their training in the Magik Realm.

Rune didn't fight much that day. He let his team shine. Let them rediscover themselves.

And when the hunt was over, when the field was silent again, and all the beasts had been wiped out, he looked over at his team with quiet pride.

"We are still us," Dain said. "Stronger, even."

"No rust left," Asher added, slinging his weapon over his shoulder. "Let's hunt something bigger next time."

They laughed, not loud, but real.

Back at Starfall, the six were welcomed with cheers and claps from the warriors who had been watching the live stream.

Grace was waiting at the gates.

Kael was the first to speak. "We brought you a souvenir," he said, tossing the bag full of Spirit Stones.

She caught it with a smirk. "Took you long enough."

They grinned, and the stiffness that had once clung to them like shadow finally began to peel away.
