Chapter 78: Chapter 75 Saw Nothing

Leng Mochen arrived quickly, and he immediately spotted Li Si trembling and frozen under the eaves of a store. His temper flared up sharply, "Are you stupid? Why didn’t you wait for me inside?" He said as he got out of the car, swiftly pushing Li Si into the passenger seat.

Leng Mochen circled around to the driver’s seat, cranked up the heater, and took out a large towel to wipe the rainwater off Li Si.

"What am I supposed to say to you? Why were you foolishly standing outside? What if you catch a cold?" His anger made his voice loud, but Li Si only listened meekly, like a little kitten.

After a while, she whispered softly, "I was afraid that if I went inside to shelter from the rain, you wouldn’t be able to find me!"

"You, girl, what’s really going on?" Leng Mochen wrapped her in the large towel, tried to hold her close to share his warmth, and felt some pain in his heart seeing her looking so pitiful—the two swollen, red eyes especially betrayed that she’d been crying.

"Brother Leng, can we go to your place first? I’m so cold!" Li Si leaned into Leng Mochen’s embrace. Though the faint masculine scent on him brought her comfort, the chill in her body still surged intermittently.

"Achoo!" "Achoo!" Before she finished speaking, she sneezed twice in rapid succession. Leng Mochen quickly turned the steering wheel and drove toward his house.

On the way there, Li Si couldn’t stop sneezing. At first, she managed to respond with some "mmhm" or "yeah" to his attempts at conversation, but later, she closed her eyes, leaned her head against the seat, and fell silent. Slowly, her complexion started to turn unnaturally red.

Once they arrived, Leng Mochen parked the car, thinking she had fallen asleep. He gently carried her upstairs to place her on the large bed on the second floor.

Li Si had stayed in this room before and left behind a few changes of clothes. Leng Mochen found them in the wardrobe, then hesitated. If he didn’t change her wet clothes, she would surely feel uncomfortable; but if he did, he’d inevitably see her body—wouldn’t that mean taking advantage of her?

After a brief internal struggle, he noticed her face was entirely red—not the natural kind of flush. Touching her forehead and neck, he felt her burning temperature.

Uh-oh. This girl must have caught a cold from the rain. Not changing her clothes now wasn’t an option.

Leng Mochen propped up Li Si, who had already passed out from the fever, her eyes tightly shut. With trembling hands, he gently unzipped the back of her dress. Rationally, he wanted to close his eyes, but his body rebelliously stayed attentive and focused on the girl before him.

For a moment, time seemed frozen. Her fair, smooth skin and curvaceous figure radiated an alluring glow under the room’s light.

Leng Mochen bit down hard on his lower lip, closing his eyes tightly before reopening them, now much clearer of mind. He swiftly changed her clothes, breathing a sigh of relief once he finished, with beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.

Checking her forehead again, which was still burning hot, he hurried to the bathroom to soak a towel in cold water and applied it to Li Si’s skin. He then found the medical kit, pulled out a thermometer, and placed it under her arm.

Outside, the rain continued pouring, streaming down the window like tiny rivulets.

While waiting, Leng Mochen sat at the bedside, silently watching Li Si’s flushed face. He gently curved his right index finger, brushing it along her cheek.

"Girl, you need to get better quickly! Whatever’s wrong, I’ll carry it for you!" The only response was the sound of Li Si’s heavy breathing.

...

"Damn, 39 degrees!" Leng Mochen shook the thermometer he had just checked, pacing the room in worry. This wouldn’t do; it seemed they’d need a trip to the hospital. But, looking at the storm outside...

"No, no, you’re lying! Lying..." At that moment, Li Si suddenly mumbled incoherently. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Leng Mochen leaned closer to her lips, trying to hear more. It seemed she said something about lying? His eyes filled with confusion—what had happened?

In the end, Leng Mochen cared for her through the night and gave her fever medicine. It wasn’t until 3 a.m. that her temperature began to subside.

The morning sunlight streamed into the room, and Li Si woke within its warm glow, frowning and mumbling about how bright it was with no curtains drawn.

Finally managing to open her eyes, she realized something was off—this wasn’t her dorm! The beautiful ceiling, pink curtains, and pale blue walls! This was Brother Leng’s house, and as she moved her hand slightly, she startled Leng Mochen, who was resting at the bedside and still holding her hand. "How are you feeling, girl? Any better?" He quickly checked her temperature with his hand. Thankfully, the fever had broken.

Li Si blushed, "Brother, were you the one taking care of me last night?" She spoke in a hoarse, unpleasant voice.

"Who else? You had a high fever of 39 degrees that wouldn’t go down. If it hadn’t subsided, I would’ve taken you to the hospital!"

"Thank you, Brother. You must be exhausted. Go rest for a bit!" Li Si tried to sit up but felt weak and sore all over. Her throat felt like it was burning, and her nose was completely stuffed.

"It’s fine. Once Sister Tao arrives, she’ll make you some porridge!" Leng Mochen yawned, his eyes bloodshot from the sleepless night, and faint stubble shadowed his chin.

Li Si felt a surge of emotion, her heart warm with gratitude. Brother Leng was truly wonderful to her. Suddenly, she noticed her outfit had changed—it wasn’t the dress from yesterday but a white nightgown she had left at his place earlier. And judging from her body’s sensations, it seemed she wasn’t wearing any undergarments!

"Brother, my clothes..." Li Si hung her head, avoiding Leng Mochen’s gaze, and asked softly.

"I—I saw your wet clothes. They were uncomfortable for you, so I changed them. Don’t worry, I did it under the blanket. I didn’t see anything!"

Even he felt guilty when he said this, and half his face turned a suspicious shade of red.

Li Si murmured almost inaudibly with a faint "mm," her face turning bright red, as if she were feverish again.

Leng Mochen practically fled the room back to his own, looking flustered.

Li Si didn’t know why, but as she stole a glance at Leng Mochen’s retreating back, there was a mixture of shyness and a strange, sweet sensation stirring in her heart.

She tried to get up to head to the bathroom, but her legs felt like stepping on cotton.

Feeling sticky and uncomfortable from sweating, she took a quick shower and finally felt refreshed.

Just as she emerged from the bathroom, Leng Mochen entered carrying a white tray, which held a bowl of thick white porridge and a plate of pickled radishes.

"Eat while it’s hot!" Leng Mochen caught the scent of Li Si’s freshly showered fragrance mixed with her personal scent as she walked past him, causing a subtle stir in his heart. Until now, he had always treated Li Si sincerely as a little sister, never harboring any inappropriate thoughts.

But ever since he saw her body last night, the dazzling image of her kept flashing in his mind, leaving him both ashamed and annoyed. He composed himself quickly, focusing on taming the disorder in his thoughts.

Li Si, her hair still slightly damp, took the tray with flushed cheeks.

"Brother, have you eaten yet?"

"I’ll eat downstairs. You stay here and finish everything." Saying this, he turned and left the room hurriedly. He was afraid that staying any longer would make him despise himself more.

Li Si blushed, diligently eating the porridge, savoring even the small side dish, which tasted crisp and incredibly delicious. (To be continued.
