Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time-Chapter 130 Good-looking
Chapter 130: Chapter 130 Good-looking
Mai Qiqi whispered to Wan Chu’er, "Zihao and I didn’t invite him."
Wan Chu’er smiled reassuringly at her and then shook her head. Li Gang’s attendance was none of her concern.
She found a corner to sit down by herself, not even glancing at Li Gang and Ma Tianjiao.
Seeing that Wan Chu’er didn’t say anything, Lin Yufei didn’t continue to argue with Ma Tianjiao either. Today was Mai Qiqi’s day, and there was no need to quarrel with Ma Tianjiao and leave a bad impression.
Li Gang felt sad when he noticed Wan Chu’er’s indifference, even when he was getting close with Ma Tianjiao, her expression didn’t change at all.
He turned to An Zihao with a smile, "Zihao, I heard you’re going public with Mai Qiqi today. I came without notice, just consider it a brother coming to celebrate with you."
An Zihao didn’t care much and responded, "Just have a good time eating, drinking, and playing."
Upon hearing this, Mai Qiqi gave him a twist on his waist.
"Qiqi, why are you twisting me? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere? Did you hurt your hand? I have tough muscles," he said, pulling on her hand to check.
Unexpectedly, everyone got a dose of their public display of affection. Lin Yufei exclaimed, "Eww, that’s so cheesy."
Mai Qiqi pushed her and was then pulled to their seat by An Zihao.
Everyone teased An Zihao and Mai Qiqi with laughter and jests, and inevitably Wan Chu’er was mentioned, which unintentionally led to mentions of Li Gang.
Wan Chu’er was unaffected. When the conversation touched on her and Mai Qiqi, she just laughed it off, and for anything else, she kept her head down and drank water.
Li Gang kept watching Wan Chu’er throughout the meal, but unfortunately, she didn’t give him a single glance. This frustrated Ma Tianjiao greatly as she kept offering food and drinks to Li Gang, even whispering in his ear and laying it on thick.
Finally, dinner was over, and the group clamored to head upstairs to the KTV to sing and have fun.
Wan Chu’er was eager to get home to write some programming code, and she excused herself discreetly to Mai Qiqi, leaving without drawing any attention.
Mai Qiqi assumed Wan Chu’er was leaving early because of Ma Tianjiao and Li Gang’s presence, so she didn’t hold her back. Apologizing, she let her go.
Lin Yufei was engrossed in playing dice with Ma Tianjiao and didn’t notice, but Li Gang, who had been watching Wan Chu’er, did.
As soon as Wan Chu’er stepped out, Li Gang found an excuse to follow her.
After a while, Ma Tianjiao snapped back to reality. Noticing that Li Gang had disappeared and Wan Chu’er was nowhere to be seen, she became angrily flustered and headed outside to look for them.
Mai Qiqi and An Zihao were flirting with each other and didn’t notice.
Lin Yufei did notice, but she loved watching the drama, especially relishing in Ma Tianjiao’s displeasure. She said nothing, casually sipping her tea – the tea here was certainly not cheap.
Around the corner of the staircase, Li Gang caught up with Wan Chu’er.
"Wan Chu’er, don’t you have anything you want to say to me?" he asked her.
Wan Chu’er found him and his words to be nonsensical and coldly said, "Nothing," continuing to walk ahead.
Out of urgency, he reached out to grab Wan Chu’er.
"Are you doing this on purpose for me to see? Are you deliberately deceiving me? Now, Mai Qiqi is paired up with An Zihao," Li Gang questioned.
Seeing Li Gang’s hand reaching out to her, Wan Chu’er felt annoyed, recalling what Jiang Ke Chu had once told her, "Hit him, just beat him back."
Her thoughts turned, and then considering that today was Mai Qiqi and An Zihao’s event, she said righteously:
"I have clearly rejected you many times before. It was your persistence that made me resort to such a measure. Now let me warn you once more: I have no interest in you and do not wish to have any relationship with you, not even as common friends. For me, you are nothing but trouble, so please stop harassing me, or else don’t blame me for being rude."
Seeing Wan Chu’er so righteous and confident, Li Gang couldn’t help but laugh in anger. He also turned serious and said:
"Wan Chu’er, I, Li Gang, have never pursued a woman like this before. Yet you tell me you do not wish to have any relationship with me, don’t push your luck. I’ll give you one more chance.
Do you want to be my girlfriend or not?"
Wan Chu’er looked at him coldly and sneered, "I don’t want to."
Li Gang raised his hand, pointed a finger at her, and said with a fierce expression, "Fine, you’ll regret it!"
Wan Chu’er turned and left.
Li Gang stood there for a while. Not wanting to go back, he too headed downstairs, but someone grabbed his arm.
"Li Gang, you’re leaving? How come you’re not taking care of me anymore?" Ma Tianjiao said in a sweet and whiny voice, completely ignoring what had just happened.
Li Gang turned his head to look at her and asked, "Do you like me?"
"Mhm." Ma Tianjiao nodded. Li Gang’s family was far more powerful than hers. She was not a fool like Wan Chu’er, who would reject a god of wealth handed to her on a plate. If she could climb up the social ladder with Li Gang, her parents would probably wake up laughing from their dreams.
"Alright, then follow me." Li Gang wrapped his arm around Ma Tianjiao’s waist, went downstairs, and directly booked a room at the hotel lobby.
...
After leaving the hotel, Wan Chu’er hailed a taxi and headed home.
Upon arriving, she carefully opened the door and heard no noise inside; it seemed that Jiang Kechu hadn’t come.
Her gaze then shifted to the dining table, where two plates were covered, along with a note.
Wan Chu’er picked up the note and saw Jiang Kechu’s firm and strong handwriting: "Food is in the pot staying warm; remember to eat and bulk up."
He had come and gone.
Wan Chu’er uncovered the plates, finding stir-fried garlic sprouts with pork, and braised fish.
It was indeed a hearty meal. She couldn’t possibly eat it all by herself. Jiang Kechu must have prepared a portion for two. Since she wasn’t there, he didn’t eat either.
Looking at the still warm dishes on the table and the note in her hand, Wan Chu’er took a deep breath, then covered the plates back up, turned on her computer, and quietly resumed her game.
She was completely immersed in programming, and unknowingly, the light in the surroundings had dimmed.
"Click," the living room door opened.
Jiang Kechu walked in and saw that the room was pitch dark except for the faint glow emanating from the computer in the corner of the living room, where Wan Chu’er sat, focusing intently on typing rapidly.
"Snap!" He turned on the lights in the living room.
Wan Chu’er was dazzled by the sudden brightness and turned to see Jiang Kechu.
"Uncle Jiang, you’re here again."
Jiang Kechu frowned, "How long have you been sitting there? Get up and move around. You’re already thin, and without exercise for a long period, how can your body take it? Also, don’t strain your eyes to the point of damage; this kind of thing is really bad for them. You better not become nearsighted."
Wan Chu’er stared at him blankly. Why was he nagging so much?
Jiang Kechu, however, assumed she did not want to move. He went over and directly pulled her up, "Come and cook with me."
He had just turned around when he noticed the covered plates on the dining table, and his face grew stern.
"You haven’t eaten again?"
