Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time-Chapter 19 Where is the Seat?
Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Where is the Seat?
The next morning at 5:30, Wan Chu’er woke up to the sound of the alarm. Her self-imposed schedule dictated that she get up at this time.
After waking up, she didn’t rush to get out of bed. Instead, she first closed her eyes and silently recited the English text she had memorized the night before, and then she got up.
She tried to move as quietly as possible, afraid of disturbing Bai Zhixi’s sleep, who had only gone to bed around midnight.
However, when she tiptoed to the restroom, she noticed that the kitchen light was on. Curiously, she walked to the kitchen door and through the window above, she saw Bai Zhixi also moving quietly, preparing breakfast.
It turned out that both mother and daughter had woken up early, and both were trying not to disturb each other, so they moved as softly as possible.
Wan Chu’er felt a twinge of heartache. How had she not cherished such a wonderful mother before? How could she have been so harsh to Bai Zhixi!
The innocent and pure face flashed in Wan Chu’er’s mind, making her heart suddenly harden.
"Zhuo Yao, you must pay for what you have done!"
After washing up, Wan Chu’er came out of the bathroom and ran into Bai Zhixi.
"Chuchu, why are you up so early?" She glanced at the clock on the wall. "It’s only six o’clock, you need to rest well during this growth phase."
Wan Chu’er smiled: "Mom, you also got up early."
"The vegetables in the morning market are abundant and fresh, so I need to go early to buy them.
By the way, I’ve already made breakfast, it’s kept warm in the pot, you eat it yourself. Leave the dishes, I’ll wash them when I return," Bai Zhixi finished speaking and was about to leave with her purse.
It was clear she hadn’t had her breakfast yet, so Wan Chu’er quickly stopped her.
"Mom, let’s eat breakfast together and then we can head out—you to the market, and I to school."
She saw Bai Zhixi wanted to say something, so she glared: "No leaving without eating."
Seeing her daughter angry, Bai Zhixi hastily agreed, "Okay, okay, all right."
Like they were in a battle, mother and daughter quickly finished their meal within minutes. Bai Zhixi gathered the dishes into the sink and hurriedly prepared to leave.
Wan Chu’er quickly went back to her room to put on her jacket and then left the house with Bai Zhixi. Her backpack was already at school so she didn’t need to bring anything.
On the almost deserted streets before 6:30, there were hardly any pedestrians.
Yet, Wan Chu’er felt the empty streets had a different charm—fresh and inspiring air, wide-open sights filled with vitality, making her want to shout out loud, declaring her return and transformation to the world!
Wan Chu’er couldn’t help but smile, turning to Bai Zhixi:
"Mom, if you end up buying too many vegetables, hire a cart to bring them home; don’t you carry everything by yourself, it won’t be worth it if you get tired."
"Chuchu, study hard in school and don’t waste time with bad students. If anyone bullies you, go to the teacher, and if the teacher doesn’t handle it, go to the principal."
Mother and daughter advised each other simultaneously.
After hearing each other’s words, they smiled and reassured one another, not nagging any further.
At a fork in the road, they waved goodbye and went their separate ways.
When she arrived at school, it was indeed quite early and there were few people around.
Wan Chu’er, based on fuzzy memories and the indicators on the doorplates, found her classroom of Senior Year 2 Class 4. She had been too preoccupied with fighting Liu Li the day before yesterday to remember the exact location.
She pushed open the classroom door only to find two people, both boys she did not recognize. One of them looked at her with interest and smiled, causing Wan Chu’er to frown involuntarily; the other just glanced at her and then returned to his book.
She had no recollection of these two, and finding herself at the classroom door, she felt awkward. She could not remember where her seat was and did not want to ask these two boys.
After thinking it over, she turned and left the classroom, the first boy looked surprised as Wan Chu’er left expressionlessly.
Wan Chu’er left the classroom and, relying on her memory, moved to the back of the teaching building.
Wutong Fourth Middle School has only one teaching building, where all three high school grades are located: freshmen on the first floor, sophomores on the second, and seniors on the third, with ten classes per grade, each class having around fifty students.
This shows how large the teaching building is.
Behind the teaching building is the sports field, which includes both a soccer field and a basketball court.
Now, with no one else on the sports field, she found a corner to casually stretch and warm up, then started running laps around the field.
Before finding the proper way to learn self-defense, she planned to build her physical strength through exercise.
On the quiet sports field, a slim figure began to run in circles.
While running, Wan Chu’er’s mind was also active, recalling all the content she had read the night before, from literature to English to math. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
After running five laps, her body was steaming hot, and her limbs began to feel weak; knowing she had reached her limit, she stopped as physical exercise too required gradual progression.
Returning to the sophomore class four classroom, she saw that more than half of the students were already there; she hesitated, then stood in the corridor, not entering.
She still didn’t know where her seat was and did not want to ask her classmates. She didn’t have a good impression of these peers, who had been indifferent during the three years Liu Li bullied her, not a single one of them speaking out to help—hardly people worth befriending.
After a while, Wan Chu’er saw Liu Li arriving with her backpack. She sneered, took a few steps forward, and blocked Liu Li’s path.
"Thirty yuan!" she said indifferently with an outstretched hand.
Liu Li was startled, and when she saw it was Wan Chu’er, her eyes widened.
Yesterday, when Wan Chu’er did not show up, Liu Li had thought it over and felt that Wan Chu’er’s sudden change was quite unexpected and somewhat unbelievable. She had decided to test Wan Chu’er once she showed up at school.
If Wan Chu’er remained timid and unassertive as before, then Liu Li would severely beat her to vent her anger; if Wan Chu’er had really changed... Thinking of the IOU she wrote, she reluctantly prepared thirty yuan.
"What thirty yuan? Give me that five yuan you owe!" Liu Li glared at Wan Chu’er.
Wan Chu’er curled her lips slightly, chuckling, "Thinking of reneging? I advise you not to be foolish. I can beat you once, and I can continue to do it a second time. After beating you, I’ll take the IOU to the principal’s office and have a good talk about my studies over the past year."
Seeing Wan Chu’er not intimidated but instead coldly threatening her, Liu Li felt uncertain again. She wasn’t very strong, and facing Wan Chu’er alone might mean both would end up hurt. Thinking back to how fearless Wan Chu’er was that day, her hesitation deepened.
"Wan Chu’er, you..."
Wan Chu’er interrupted Liu Li, saying, "No nonsense, thirty yuan, pay me back promptly. You’re dawdling on your first repayment, not quite Liu Li’s style, huh?"
As class mates began to gather, and eyes from the classroom were looking their way, Liu Li clenched her teeth and said, "I’ll give it to you in the afternoon. I don’t have money on me right now."
Wan Chu’er stood her ground, "No money? Then go home and get it."
"Don’t be too unreasonable!"
"You’re the unreasonable one! Thirty yuan!"
"I don’t have money." Liu Li said angrily.
Wan Chu’er turned and left.
"Wan Chu’er, where are you going?" Liu Li, feeling something was amiss, quickly asked.
"To the principal, to have the school discuss with your family about repaying the debt. Your parents should handle this." Wan Chu’er said patiently.
Liu Li became anxious and immediately took out thirty yuan from her pocket, "Here!"
Wan Chu’er raised an eyebrow, picked up the thirty yuan from the ground, without any dissatisfaction.
"Liu Li, a word of advice, don’t try these petty tricks again. I, Wan Chu’er, am not fooled by them!"
