Chapter 828: Chapter 802: Pampering to the Skies, Side by Side (Thanks to Shui Yuqing for the reward of 4 additional chapters)
Seeing her kidnapped by a madman was a huge blow to Edward Wheeler; he can hardly believe that he saved her and that she’s still alive, lying in his arms. How could she be so small when he picks her up, this tiny woman who has taken over his entire heart? He almost lost her.
This fear was unbearably hard for Edward. He didn’t want her to see how useless he felt. If he had realized just a second earlier that a madman was approaching, couldn’t he have spared Kiara the suffering?
Kiara initially wanted to push him away to comfort him and tell him that she was fine, but feeling him slightly trembling, her heart softened. She held him like calming a baby, gently smoothing his back and patting him.
After what seemed like an eternity, Edward finally let go of her and said to her with a nasal voice,
“I’m sorry, Sophia, for making you suffer. I’m useless. If I had acted when he pounced, you wouldn’t have had to suffer.”
Kiara felt a sourness in her heart hearing him say this, yet she was also a bit angry.
So, she used lip-reading to tell him, you’re silly, right? If you acted before he did, would that be the same?
If you had acted, it’d be called rescuing a hostage. If you struck before the madman did, that would be outright assault.
Edward was serious; if there was a way to keep his Sophia from suffering and being in danger, he would rather go in himself.
When the doctor said that if it weren’t for the timely and decisive rescue, Kiara’s brain could have been damaged, Edward truly wished he could strangle himself.
Seeing Edward clench his mouth and stay silent, Kiara felt so distressed for him; she touched his face, looking at how scared she made her Camden.
I’m proud of you, it was my husband who saved me. If it weren’t for you, I would have been the one in real danger. Don’t say you’re useless; you are the best man in the world.
Kiara told him this with her lips, and Edward felt agonizingly sorry for not living up to this title of ‘the best man’ regarding Kiara.
Feeling he owed Kiara an apology, Edward was downcast all day. He took very careful care of Kiara but dared not look at her, always turning his back to her unless she needed him. Of course, Kiara knew he didn’t turn away because he found her unattractive after being strangled; it was because he couldn’t bear to look at the marks on her neck without feeling guilty each time.
Ah, what is this called? Post-traumatic psychological disorder? A proper psychological shadow, indeed.
Kiara felt heartache for Edward’s self-blame, so she forcibly pulled him over, demanding he hold her. Thus, the two of them sat side by side. If he tried to leave, she’d wrap her arms around his waist.
Only by filling him with warmth could she assure him she was still there, and that she would recover soon, which might lessen Edward’s guilt somewhat.
Kiara felt she could be discharged from the hospital; a little rest at home would heal her throat. But Edward, worried, insisted she stay in the hospital under observation, fearing brain injury.
Kiara also wanted to ask about what happened to the madman, but seeing Edward’s self-punishing demeanor, she felt uncomfortable bringing it up. She decided to wait until she was fully discharged to ask Edward about it.
After a night of observation, the doctor confirmed Kiara was alright and could be discharged. Kiara was still asleep, but she could leave the hospital once she woke up.
Edward went to get breakfast, and when he returned, he encountered his mother and father, Mr. Yuno, his elder brother and sister-in-law, and Isaac rushing over.
If Santi hadn’t been out of town and couldn’t return, and Second Brother of Yuno Family hadn’t received a last-minute notice to fly out, they too would have come. This was a family emergency.
“How is Kiara now?” Mr. Yuno asked.
“She’s fine now, just some throat injuries, but the doctor said she can be discharged.”
“You damn kid! How dare you snitch on your mother about me? What did I say to you? Was I wrong? I didn’t say anything, and you’re still snitching!” Mr. Yuno raised his hand, wanting to slap Edward, but Mother Yuno hastily stopped him.
“If you dare to hit our son again, I’ll hit you, old man.”
“I won’t agree even if you hit me.” Edward had no strength for anything now; his heart was with the small woman in the hospital room.
Mr. Yuno, hearing his unrepentant attitude, was annoyed, “You damn kid!”
Nobody cared whether the damn kid hit someone or not; his headache was this kid snitching to his spouse, making him get an earful!
Kiara had already woken up and saw Mr. Yuno ready to hit Edward. She rushed over to shield Edward.

She couldn’t speak, but her eyes were anxious, clearly signaling not to let Mr. Yuno hit Edward again.
Camden had been tormenting himself over her injury for so long; she absolutely refused to see Camden get hurt anymore.
Mother Yuno, seeing Kiara’s neck, burst into tears, her hands trembling as they fell.
“My poor Kiara, how did this happen to you?”
The sister-in-law and Isaac were also anxious seeing her neck; it looked terrifying.
Kiara hurriedly used lip-reading to tell Edward to assure everyone she was fine, but Edward just hung his head low, “It’s my fault, I didn’t take good care of her.”
Kiara was going mad. Ahh, not this again!
Dealing with one hypersensitive Camden was enough to give Mrs. Kiara a headache; a bunch of Camdens in their underpants was lethal!
“This throat can’t speak? Let’s go take a look in the Imperial Capital, eh? Old Yu Moore, let’s find someone, take a good look.”
Mother Yuno was frantic, her daughter-in-law was about to get married and celebrate with a banquet; how did she get injured all of a sudden?
“Okay, I’ll feel more at ease if we check her properly.” Edward agreed, but Kiara couldn’t stand it and began rifling through Isaac’s bag. She knew Isaac usually carried a notebook, a habit he learnt from her. She found paper and pen and quickly wrote, I’m fine, the doctor said the throat issue isn’t serious and I’ll be able to speak in two days. A little rest and there will be no problem, no need for fuss.
“No, better to have a thorough check to be at peace.” Edward was always worried about Kiara.
Kiara could only plead with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, writing a line on the paper.
These are professional doctors; they should be aware of these medical basics and not stir up unnecessary panic. Being unconscious from suffocation, that’s scary, but now she’s awake and fine, there’s no need for unnecessary anxiety.
After much persuading, she finally put everyone at ease, and Kiara avoided being taken to the Imperial Capital for a thorough but unnecessary checkup. She would recover in a couple of days; the hassle of involving so many people wasn’t worth it.
Once they completed the discharge procedures, the group went to Kiara’s new home in a grand manner. Edward didn’t feel at ease with Kiara living outside anymore, afraid for her safety. But upon opening the door to the freshly renewed home, Edward’s heart ached again.
