Chapter 399 -399: Truly Insane or Pretending?
Rose Taylor had gone mad.
Yet, it wasn’t because she heeded the lawyer’s advice to feign insanity.
It was when she found out Gordon was dead and saw Abigail Green standing beside Brandon Piers unscathed that she suddenly lost her mind.
Rose Taylor could not believe Abigail Green was alive.
One moment she was screaming about ghosts, the next she was struggling to rush up to Abigail Green; laughing and crying erratically, causing the entire courtroom to be unable to proceed normally.
Abigail Green looked on coldly at her, while Brandon Piers held her hand. “Don’t be afraid.”
“Okay,” Abigail responded.
She had nothing to fear, merely felt it was a pity. Having someone lucidly accept punishment was true retribution. Now with Rose Taylor mad, it seemed she had it easier.
However, it was different for Rose. Because she was involved, she was brought to court; she had originally planned to shoulder the crimes her daughter committed alone. But she never expected that her daughter, upon seeing Abigail Green, would break down and go mad.
At first, Rose thought her daughter was pretending to be mad. She rushed up to hug Rose Taylor. “Ruby, Ruby…”
“Ghosts, ghosts, they’re all ghosts…” Rose Taylor frantically slapped away and broke free from Rose’s grip, completely unlike an act.
Rose took quite a beating, but that wasn’t the main point. She widened her eyes in disbelief at her daughter. “Ruby, my Ruby, there are no ghosts. It’s Mom, it’s Mom!”
Yet Rose Taylor couldn’t hear her, kicking Rose away. Her crippled foot tripped her, causing her to fall to the ground. She felt no pain, shouting, “Ghosts, there are ghosts!”
After shouting, she suddenly saw Brandon Piers, giggling foolishly and saying, “Young Master, I am your wife, I am your wife, marry me, will you… Heh heh!”
Brandon Piers looked at her coldly.
Rose Taylor tilted her head and suddenly saw Abigail Green standing beside. She stepped back stumblingly. “Ghosts, ghosts… ghosts!”
“Ruby!” Rose cried out in agony, stepping forward to hug Rose Taylor. “Ruby, wake up, there are no ghosts, I am Mom, I am Mom…”
“Mom, Mom, there are ghosts. Did you see them? Over there, over there…” Rose Taylor pointed to a spot at the courthouse entrance. Rose followed her gaze but saw nothing, just a pot of green plant leaves gently shaking with no wind.
Rose couldn’t help but get goosebumps. “Ruby, there’s nothing there, nothing.”

“Mom, she’s here to find me. Did you see her? Wearing a pink bubble dress, and there’s a woman holding her. Mom, save me…” Rose Taylor cried out, hugging Rose tightly.
Rose beside her trembled.
Everyone present involuntarily glanced at the entrance, all covered in goosebumps by Rose Taylor.
Brandon Piers frowned, seeing Abigail Green also looking at that spot, softly murmuring, “Don’t listen to that lunatic’s nonsense.”
Abigail said nothing, just smiled slightly at that spot.
Originally Brandon Piers didn’t think much of it, but seeing Abigail smile at the vacant spot, he couldn’t help but frown. “Chubby, act normal.”
“Okay,” Abigail lightly responded, retracting her gaze.
Rose Taylor went mad again, pointing at the vacant spot and then at Abigail. “They’re all ghosts, they’re all ghosts…”
The judicial staff tried to restrain her, but though Rose Taylor was crippled, she exhibited great strength, shouting madly. They finally brought in a medical examiner who administered a sedative to subdue her.
Seeing her daughter faint on the ground, Rose cried in grief. Even when she was sentenced, she never regretted this much. Her heart was filled with resentment, hatred towards Lincoln Green’s cold-bloodedness, hatred that Abigail Green didn’t die. But now seeing her mad daughter, she finally started to regret.
She held her unconscious daughter tightly, crying hoarsely. If Abigail Green hadn’t witnessed the mother-daughter actions herself, she couldn’t help but feel saddened.
Unfortunately, at this moment, Abigail only felt they deserved it.
All beings suffer, no one lives easily in this world. Everyone lives hardships for various reasons. But if one abandons kindness and even respect for life because of that, they would lose everything sooner or later.
Thinking of this, Abigail couldn’t help but look at the courthouse entrance again. The previously swaying plant was now still, as if it had never moved.
Brandon Piers saw this, furrowing his brow. He turned her head back. “Don’t look.”
Abigail looked up at him and smiled gently, nodding.
The court session had to be postponed because of Rose Taylor’s disturbance.
Abigail watched as they carried Rose Taylor away and as Rose cried breathlessly. “She probably won’t be sentenced.”
“Worried she is pretending to be mad? Don’t worry, if it’s true, then so be it. If she is pretending, I’ll make sure she gets what she wants.” Brandon Piers’s gentle voice said such words, yet it was damn hard to dislike.
Abigail glanced at him, unusually not stopping him.
However, with Rose Taylor going mad, their previous preparations were all for nothing. The testimony and evidence Hughes provided and the recording of Gordon London’s contact with Rose Taylor were rendered useless.
The court notified them of a future session.
However, Abigail Green was no longer in the mood to attend, and Brandon Piers had even less interest in making a scene.
And Lawyer Simon, hired for this case, was quite capable. He quickly got a psychiatric certificate from the hospital, proving Rose Taylor was not capable of civil behavior.
The court’s verdict was predictable. Rose Taylor was sent to Gills City’s largest psychiatric hospital.
The responsible lawyer reported back to superiors and specifically visited Rose Taylor at the psychiatric hospital.
“Miss Green is indeed a clever person.” The lawyer’s eyes gleamed with admiration. Rose Taylor’s performance in court was outstanding, almost fooling him. Then he heard she graduated from the acting department and couldn’t help but praise her acting skills.
Rose Taylor blankly stared at the person before her. “Heh heh.”
“Miss Green, no need to act now. There’s no surveillance here. Our boss hopes you rest and recuperate. He will provide everything you need.” The lawyer gently coaxed.
“Heh heh, ghosts…” Rose Taylor suddenly pointed behind the lawyer, shouting.
Even though Lawyer Simon was battle-hardened, he shivered. “Miss Green!”
“There are many ghosts behind you, one, two, three… they came for you, not for me, heh heh heh.” Rose Taylor laughed, drooling all over her collar.
Miguel Simon felt his hair stand on end, looking incredulously at Rose Taylor. “Are you… are you truly mad?”
In response, he heard another bout of silly laughter. “Heh heh, heh heh, the ghosts behind you are pulling you, they’re pulling you.”
If Rose Taylor hadn’t spoken, it would have been okay. But as she did, Lawyer Simon felt as if someone was gently tugging at his back. He stepped back abruptly. “Lunatic, lunatic!”
He said and fled the psychiatric hospital in panic.
“Heh heh.”
Brandon Piers handed the video to Abigail. “She should truly be mad. We will return to Swallow City in a few days. Be ready.”
“Okay.”
