Chapter 411: Chapter 411: Who Taught You Not to Cry Out When You’re Hurt?
The explosion caused the number of injured to multiply.
Most of them were firefighters and police officers, which threw the scene into chaos again.
Fortunately, like Brandon Piers’ case, most injuries were mild burns.
Abigail frowned and looked out the window after checking Brandon Piers’ condition.
Brandon Piers held her hand. “Don’t worry. Kelvin Max has already dispatched to the nearest Piers hospital. They’ll be settled soon.”
“Okay.” Abigail was relieved, then looked at the man. “Was the car accident aimed at you?”
“Probably.”
“How could they be so blatant? Didn’t they think about the consequences of causing a car accident in such a crowded place?” Abigail almost shouted in anger.
“The more this happens, the more they can evade responsibility if I die. They can find loopholes in the contract and take my shares.” Brandon Piers spoke coldly with a smirk.
Abigail knew the family’s relationships were bad. But she hadn’t realized they were this terrible.
Was it really a life-or-death struggle?

“Don’t worry. I can handle this.” Brandon Piers saw her eyebrows knit together and gently placed his finger on her brow to calm her.
Abigail felt his touch on her skin, and though it wasn’t hot, she began to feel an uncontrollable warmth and uncomfortably moved aside.
Brandon Piers looked at the suspicious redness on her cheeks and smiled slightly.
Abigail, disoriented by his smile, hurriedly asked, “Where’s Teddy?”
“I had someone take them back first.”
“Are they safe?” The earlier incident made Abigail as skittish as a startled bird.
She still remembered the dangerous pursuit in Gills City.
“No. I’m not dead, and they know harming Teddy would provoke my crazy revenge, which does them no good. Plus, with today’s big commotion, they still have time to panic after I leave unharmed.” Brandon Piers laughed again, dangerously.
Abigail couldn’t help but shiver. She didn’t want to know how this man would retaliate against the family behind today’s attack.
She was curious, though. Since they were all descendants of the old man, was it necessary to fight to such an extent?
Before she could ask, the car arrived at the hospital.
It was the Piers’ private hospital. Upon their arrival, the hospital director respectfully welcomed Brandon Piers and Abigail inside.
At the accident scene, Abigail had barely checked Brandon Piers’ injuries, unable to cut his shirt without tools. Though she knew he was burned, the sight was not clear.
When they fully exposed Brandon Piers’ injuries at the hospital, Abigail closed her eyes in distress. Meanwhile, Brandon Piers looked unbothered and said, “Let a doctor check you to see if you’re hurt anywhere.”
“I’m fine.” Abigail knew her own body well; she was uninjured as Brandon had shielded her during the explosion.
But Brandon Piers looked at the doctors waiting nearby. “Check her legs.”
“I…”
“Listen.” Just as Abigail was about to say she’s fine, the man cut her off domineeringly.
With no choice, Abigail sat on a nearby bed and raised her pant legs.
Everyone then saw her bruised knees and several scrapes on her calves, with bright red blood striking against her fair skin.
Abigail was a bit embarrassed. “It’s nothing serious.”
“Who taught you not to complain when you’re hurt?” Brandon Piers scolded, his tone chilly. Then he addressed the doctor. “Treat her.”
“Take care of your own injuries quickly, too.” Abigail didn’t think much of her little wounds, yet his insistence warmed her heart, and she felt a bit flustered. She pointed at Brandon Piers, urging him to treat his wounds.
Brandon Piers grunted in response.
The medical staff and hospital leaders watched the pair awkwardly. They had initially gathered to welcome the second young master. Who would’ve thought they’d be forced to witness PDA like this?
Pullan and Peter, standing nearby, acted unfazed, cross-armed like two wooden statues, seemingly mocking everyone else’s surprise.
After the two had their injuries treated, Kelvin Max called. “Second Young Master, all the injured have been settled, with the costs covered by Piers. As for the girl the young lady operated on, her vitals are stable. I’ve arranged for 24-hour observation.”
Brandon Piers responded with a satisfied hum.
Kelvin Max continued. “The video of the young lady saving people at the scene has gone viral, including you. Should we take it down?”
Hearing this, Brandon Piers checked his phone and found that the video of Abigail performing surgery had hit the trending ranks. He unintentionally appeared in the live stream. After saving the video, he replied to Kelvin Max, “Remove the post. Pull down the trending status. Redirect the media to focus on the car accident and explosion causes.”
“Got it.” Kelvin Max went to handle it.
After hanging up Kelvin Max’s call, Brandon Piers received a report from Kennan Max. Teddy and Aunt Claudia had safely arrived at Moon Lake Manor.
With a relieved heart, he informed Abigail of the situation.
A smile finally appeared on her face as she followed him into the car heading to the manor.
The radio continuously broadcasted updates on the crash as Abigail worried about their safety on the way.
Luckily, no further incidents occurred.
But upon arrival, Abigail couldn’t help but open her mouth slightly. “What is this?”
“Moon Lake Manor,” Brandon Piers responded.
“Are we going to live here from now on?” Abigail hesitated.
She had thought they would live near the city.
Just after asking, the massive black iron gate opened automatically. Inside, it seemed boundless, with a sunflower field spanning an acre or two, and many other flowers, mostly medicinal herbs. The car window was slightly open. Abigail inhaled deeply, savoring the herbal fragrance mixed with flowers.
Brandon Piers noticed the amazement and joy in her eyes, his mood lifting with hers.
Yet Abigail grew apprehensive. “Are we really going to live here? I love it, but isn’t it far from the medical school? I might need to rent an apartment nearby and come here on weekends.”
Urban development had sped up in recent years, making such rural landscapes rare in Swallow City. Abigail found the manor precious.
Seeing Abigail’s reluctance yet inclination to compromise, Brandon Piers couldn’t help but smile. “Moon Lake Manor is a half-hour drive from the medical college. Don’t worry.”
He had chosen the manor considering Abigail’s schooling.
“Half an hour?” Abigail echoed, in disbelief.
With that short a drive, she could even come home for lunch!
