Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 559: Unattainable Love
Chapter 559: Chapter 559: Unattainable Love
Lincoln Green left the police station and immediately called Brandon Piers.
His relationship with Abigail Green made it impossible for him to question Brandon directly, but he couldn’t help himself. His voice trembled as he asked, "That really wasn’t Abigail, was it?"
Brandon didn’t have much fondness for Lincoln but didn’t feel repulsed after hearing about his behavior at the police station. "I’ll handle Abigail’s matter."
"But..." Lincoln couldn’t find any reassurance, feeling uneasy. He struggled to find the right words, realizing that anything he said might be wrong. He wanted to see Abigail’s child, but couldn’t bring himself to say it.
However, he couldn’t just return to Gills City like this.
After hanging up the phone, Lincoln booked a hotel close to the police station. If Abigail was truly alive, he had to wait for her to return.
Brandon had someone monitoring the police station and knew Lincoln’s every move. This brought other thoughts to his mind just as Luke Scout called.
"I found what you asked me to investigate. My team discovered that Abigail Green’s and Jeffrey Foster’s information in the police database had been tampered with. If you agree, I can arrange for another test, preferably using a sample from Abigail Green’s closest blood relative," Luke said, surprised that Brandon had identified the body as not being Abigail simply through inspection.
"No need, she wasn’t the one," Brandon refused, but suddenly thought of Lincoln. Maybe he could arrange a DNA test between Lincoln and Abigail.
Since Jeffrey Foster wasn’t dead, he must have been keeping an eye on the domestic situation. If the DNA test between Lincoln and Abigail confirmed her death, it might prompt Jeffrey to reveal himself.
Luke considered Brandon’s typical arrogance but then heard his new proposal, "Are you sure?"
"Since someone could alter the police database, they could also tamper with the test results. Watch over the process for me," Brandon insisted.
"Ha, am I your pawn now?" Luke laughed angrily.
"Aren’t you still investigating this case? ROSE Technologies can provide all the technical services you need. Deal?" Brandon replied without hesitation.
Luke took advantage of the situation. "Technical support is fine, but the maintenance fees are not a small amount..."
"Scoundrel!" Brandon cursed softly.
Luke didn’t mind and reminded him, "Gentleman!"
Brandon snorted coldly. "By the way, how’s my dear third uncle?"
"Never mind him. The Foster family is done for this time," Luke said, picking up the urine test results he had just received. "All the contestants the Foster family bet on tested positive for banned substances."
Brandon was taken aback. Just as Luke finished speaking, Kelvin Max walked in and placed the urine test results on the desk.
A glance at the data showed all the substances were clearly banned drugs, not developed by Abigail. So Abigail hadn’t helped Jeffrey; it had always been Jeffrey misleading him.
This made Brandon feel even more guilty and think more about Abigail. The more he thought, the more certain he was that Jeffrey had taken her away.
"If I’m not mistaken, whether it’s the explosion or exposing the casino, it was all orchestrated by Jeffrey. He wants to destroy the Foster family," Brandon suppressed his chaotic emotions and told Luke.
"I’ve found some things too. Sixty percent of the Foster family’s current assets belonged to the York family. Jeffrey Foster’s mother, Freda York, was once the only daughter of the prominent York family. She fell in love with the married Hearst Foster at sixteen, was deceived and robbed, and her father died suddenly. After giving birth to Jeffrey, she lived in a foreign red-light district until Hearst brought Jeffrey back to the Foster family at eight. Freda died suddenly afterward. I suspect both deaths were not accidental," Luke even suspected Hearst’s initial relationship with Freda was a conspiracy.
How could a sixteen-year-old girl withstand the seduction of a mature twenty-five-year-old man, leading to her own and the entire York family’s downfall?
Brandon hadn’t overlooked Jeffrey’s background, which was why he believed Jeffrey’s actions were revenge. But hearing Luke, he focused on one point: sudden death.
Both Freda York and her father had died suddenly.
And Abigail in the past had died suddenly.
Brandon had a thought, one he believed could be correct: Abigail’s death as Dr. Smith was related to the Fosters.
From his investigations, he saw that Jeffrey had been making calculated moves over the years, now firmly rooted in the Foster family. But since he knew Abigail liked him, and he also loved Abigail, why hadn’t he confessed before Abigail’s past death?
Now it seemed there was only one reason: he originally planned to take revenge on the Foster family, so he didn’t want to involve Abigail.
But Abigail’s death shattered his last piece of sanity. From Jeffrey’s actions in the past six months, it was clear he accelerated his plan, intending mutual destruction until he discovered Abigail Green was Abigail. So, he adjusted his strategy.
Mutual destruction turned into faking death.
This realization caused Brandon great pain. If he didn’t love Abigail but only used her, he would confidently bring her back.
But what if Abigail knew the truth and chose to go with him?
Jeffrey’s insane actions hid a deep love, one that Brandon might not be able to match.
Whoosh!
Brandon exhaled deeply. If it weren’t for his son, for his initial advantage after her rebirth, how could he claim Abigail’s heart?
Living for over twenty years, Brandon tasted the bitterness of inferiority for the first time.
He couldn’t compare to Jeffrey in the length of knowing Abigail; he couldn’t match Jeffrey’s dedication to Abigail; he repeatedly made mistakes in trusting Abigail.
"Hmm?" Luke wondered aloud, noticing Brandon’s prolonged silence.
Brandon snapped back. "The Foster family is indeed finished."
If Hearst truly orchestrated Abigail’s past death, Brandon wouldn’t hesitate to add fuel to the fire. And there’s his dear third uncle.
"There’s one more thing you need to address. With such a scandal in the competition, and the Piers as the title sponsor being involved, you need to calm public sentiment," Luke finally revealed his true intention.
"Me, a notorious title sponsor, soothing the public? Are you joking?" Brandon retorted.
Luke wanted to say because you’re handsome, but he didn’t dare, so he shrugged. "During my inquiry with the organizing committee today, I learned something. R Nation applied for a special flight route half a month ago to transport an eighty-year-old renowned psychologist, and the plane left right after the explosion."
"What?" Brandon stood up in shock. "Are you sure?"
"This matter is very confidential; I just learned about it today."
"Thank you. ROSE technology will provide free technical services to the police for the next three years." Brandon hung up abruptly after saying this.
