Chapter 80 - 80: Ring of Truth

Caelen sat at his workbench late into the night. Metal scraps, crystals, and wire pieces were scattered everywhere. A soft glow came from a blue stone at the center of the table—one he found deep in the mines weeks ago.

He stared at it, eyes heavy. "Come on... just one more enchantment."

The ring lay in the middle. Smooth, silver, and simple. But it wasn't just a ring.

It was the result of everything he'd learned so far—magic, metalwork, enchantments, and even system codes he copied from his own interface.

He muttered a few words and touched the crystal to the ring. The gem pulsed softly, then faded. For a second, nothing happened.

Then:

[Artifact Created: Ring of Reflection]

A crafted artifact by Caelen. Reveals the wearer's status. Tapping the ring summons a holographic screen. Aligned with truth—will glow blue for good, red for evil.

Caelen blinked.

He tapped the ring gently.

A small, transparent screen popped up in the air, floating above the ring like magic. It showed his name, skills, magic levels—and at the top, a gentle blue glow.

He grinned. "It works."

The next morning, he called everyone to the town hall. Zira, Garin, the dwarves, and a few villagers gathered, curious.

"All right," Caelen said, holding up the ring. "This... is the start of something new."

Zira tilted her head. "Looks like a ring."

"It is. But it's more than that. Watch."

He slipped the ring on, tapped it—and the holographic screen appeared. Gasps spread through the crowd.

"This shows your status," he explained. "Your skills, strength, magic... even alignment."

"Elignment?" Garin blinked.

"Good or bad," Caelen said. "It turns blue if your heart is good, red if not."

Zira stepped forward. "So it's like the system you have?"

"Exactly," Caelen nodded. "Except now, anyone can use it."

Borin scratched his beard. "You mean I can see how strong I am?"

"Yup."

Dorgrim squinted at it. "And what if someone's red?"

Caelen's smile faded slightly. "Then we'll know who to watch out for."

The villagers murmured among themselves.

Elira raised her hand. "Can anyone wear it?"

"Not yet," Caelen said. "I only made one. But I can make more."

He handed the ring to Garin. "Go ahead."

Garin hesitated, then slid it on. He tapped it like Caelen showed. The screen popped up.

[Name: Garin]

[Skills: Farming Lv. 4, Cooking Lv. 3]

[Status: Good – Alignment Blue]

Garin laughed. "I feel like I just met myself."

The crowd chuckled.

By afternoon, Caelen made two more rings. He gave one to Zira, and another to Tikka, who was brought from school, confused and wide-eyed.

"What's this?" she asked.

Caelen smiled. "A reward. You've been doing great, teaching."

Zira tapped hers first. A screen popped up—full of hunting, sword, and leadership skills. The glow was a clear blue.

Tikka's hand shook as she wore hers.

The screen blinked to life.

[Name: Tikka]

[Skills: Teaching Lv. 3, Reading Lv. 5, Writing Lv. 4, Observation Lv. 4]

[Status: Good – Alignment Blue]

She covered her mouth. "I have skills?"

"Of course," Caelen said. "You've worked hard."

Tikka stared at her screen for a while. Then nodded, more determined than ever.

"I'll teach harder."

The rest of the day, Caelen worked on crafting more rings. Word spread fast. Curious villagers lined up outside the blacksmith, excited to see their own status.

Some laughed at their low numbers. Others were shocked they had skills at all.

But one thing mattered most—so far, every ring had glowed blue.

By evening, a campfire was lit in the square. People shared stories about their stats. Kids compared reading levels. Adults boasted about cooking or hunting.

Garin leaned over to Caelen. "You've changed things again."

"I just gave them a mirror," Caelen said.

Zira added, "And the mirror's honest."

Later that night, Caelen sat alone, watching the stars.

Jeff didn't appear, but he spoke in Caelen's mind anyway.

"You've given them power, boy."

"Is that good or bad?"

"Depends how they use it. But it's yours now... the Caelen Bloodline."

Caelen looked at the ring on his hand.

It glowed faintly in the dark.

A small blue light in a growing world.
