Adrian glanced at the phone in silence till Ji Yan’s hand grew sore.

The man brought it close to his face and sent a ’Mm’ with his eyes still twinkling.

Then, he paused for a moment and sent three red hearts.

Those messages were delivered but not seen by Ella.

However, Adrian kept looking at the messages for a long time.

After a while he handed his phone to Ji Yan, ’’What does it mean?"

Ji Yan broke out in cold sweat. Could it be possible that Second Master is now angry because Miss Yu is not responding to his message immediately?

"Second Master, you shouldn’t overthink. Miss Yu probably went to bed after texting you. She seems to prefer sleeping on the time...’’

The man with a few green lines under his dark eyes looked up.

As much as it shocked him to admit it, the current Ella was way different from the Ella that he was familiar with.

Ji Yan couldn’t tell when it happened but he knew for a fact that she was no longer as dumb and clueless.

And the way she protected Ruby today was evidence of that.

Adrian frowned.

Ji Yan pulled out his phone and looked at the incoming texts.

"Second Master,’’ He turned the phone towards Adrian, half bowing, ’’Shall we set out now?"

Elsewhere, moonlight spilled into a quiet room. Ella twisted in her sleep, drenched in cold sweat.

The blanket had been kicked aside and her fingers tightly clutched the satin sheets. Ella’s forehead was covered in cold sweat.

Riri, who was sleeping by her side, was startled awake.

Ella’s lips moved, mumbling things incoherently as her chest heaved.

Suddenly, her eyes snapped open and she gasped.

As Ella’s eyes adjusted to the dim lights in the room, heart slowly settled down.

She turned to Riri and patted him for a few seconds.

After drinking water and walking around the room for some time, Ella finally felt better.

She had been tired by the entire day’s ordeal and she did not realize when she dozed off.

The nightmare crept in silently, those familiar flashes, echoing screams, that same helpless dread sunk into her bones.

This time, Ella did not see anything new but all the visions she had previously repeated themselves again and again in a loop, filling her with a sort of anxiety that made it hard for her to detach reality from dreams.

Sitting on the space near the windowsill, Ella picked up her phone.

Her gaze landed on the notifications.

Two texts from Adrian?

Her fingers trembled as she tapped open the chat.

’Mm.’

A dry laugh escaped her lips. Typical Adrian.

But then she saw the three red hearts.

Ella stilled.

After a moment, a sly glint flashed in Ella’s eyes.

Since she just woke up, it would definitely take her some time to get back to sleep.

In the meanwhile, it would not hurt to mess around with this big devil to test his patience.
