Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 78 - Testing
Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Testing
Chapter 78 -78: Testing
Watching the figure standing by the flower bed, President Yu raised an eyebrow, understanding everything.
Just as he was about to speak, Song Wanqiu walked directly up to President Yu and extended her hand.
“President Yu, hello, I am the fiancée of Third Young Master, Song Wanqiu.”
President Yu glanced at Song Wanqiu, then at her extended hand, and smiled lightly, “I’m sorry, Miss Song, I’ve just been pruning the flowers, and my hands are too dirty.”
Song Wanqiu’s hand stiffened for a moment and then, awkwardly, she lowered it.
No sooner had she lowered her hand than President Yu took a towel from a servant’s hand to wipe his own, then moved closer to Gong Chen.
He completely ignored the fiancée, Song Wanqiu.
President Yu sat down next to Gong Chen, pouring him tea, and glanced at the others, “Please, have a seat. Xue Man has already given me your details. No need to exhaust yourselves with introductions, I am quite informal.”
His words clearly had an underlying message.

Song Wanqiu tightly clenched her purse, a fleeting, sinister look crossing her eyes.
This old woman, pretending for what?
If it weren’t for her remaining usefulness, she wouldn’t be grandstanding here.
However, on the surface, Song Wanqiu maintained her image of gentle elegance impeccably.
As she sat down, she leaned slightly forward, moved closer to Gong Chen, demonstratively pushing the teacup in front of him farther away.
“President Yu, sorry to disturb today, but, unfortunately, Third Young Master doesn’t enjoy this type of tea.”
Doesn’t enjoy?
Lin Zhiyi quietly tasted the tea, certain it was Gong Chen’s favorite.
Rich and aromatic.
This tea was even more precious than her favored kind, produced so scarcely, she hardly dared to claim she liked it, always feeling a bit unworthy.
Yet, Gong Shiyan stuffed a small canister of this tea into the supply he gave her each year.
She knew, didn’t Song Wanqiu, this unyielding moonlight Pavlovian source, know?
President Yu held the teacup to his nose, and with squinted eyes, chuckled softly, “Not fond of it? Then where do all those teas that Third Young Master outbids me for each year go? Miss Song, as Third Young Master’s fiancée, you couldn’t possibly… have never tasted it?”
Song Wanqiu’s face turned pale, her eyes fixated on the pushed-away teacup, wishing she could sink through the floor.
Clearly, her expression betrayed her; she had never tasted it.
Gong Chen then took a sip of tea and said indifferently, “It went to the dogs.”
As the words dropped, a look seemed to brush by Lin Zhiyi, making her heart tighten, the cup in her hand feeling scalding.
What was he implying?
Before Lin Zhiyi could fathom it, she felt President Yu’s gaze on her, obliging her to sip her tea as if nothing was amiss.
President Yu’s eyes shifted, and, setting down his teacup, he raised his own hand toward them.
“What do you think?”
On her fingers, she wore two rings.
One was a Paparacha ring, the main stone about thirty carats, surrounded by colorless diamonds, emitting an orangish-pink halo in the daylight that certainly spoke to the quality of the ring.
The other was a camellia ring, with the center stamen of fifteen carat Sri Lankan sapphire, the petals layered, the inner ones inlaid with diamonds, the outer ones pink chalcedony, a thick arrangement that nonetheless preserved the lightness of the flower on the fingertip.
Considering President Yu’s question, it seemed he was asking which looked better.
Song Wanqiu glanced briefly, her confidence allowing her to respond first: “This quality of Paparacha is rare, the balance of orange and pink, the layering, just right, but… I think President Yu suits the camellia ring better, profound depth, delicate yet not coy.”
President Yu, hearing this, covered his mouth and chuckled softly, “Miss Song, sounds like you’re praising me.”
Song Wanqiu praised, “I don’t mean to flatter, but President Yu has taste; anyone who chooses this piece shows she’s as bright as this flower.”
Hearing this, President Yu laughed even louder.
Chen Huan was about to get up when Lin Zhiyi put a hand on hers to stop her, indicating not to rush into speaking.
But Chen Huan avoided her hand, stood up reluctantly and said, “I also think the camellia is more suitable for President Yu, since this place is called Cha Hua Manor, it shows that President Yu is someone who loves and cherishes flowers.”
President Yu, smiling, twirled her ring without revealing her thoughts.
Just then, Shen Yan also stood up.
She modestly and slyly said, “President Yu, although my abilities are not as good as theirs, I think the Paparacha is more suitable for you. As a powerful and confident woman like yourself, you naturally need a more dazzling brilliance.”
President Yu turned her head and stared at Shen Yan, propping her chin and raising her eyebrows, “You are quite interesting, full of ideas.”
“I dare not presume, I’m just telling the truth,” Shen Yan said, hanging her head carefully with a hint of smugness in her tone.
Everyone liked the camellia rings, but she deliberately went against the tide, which indeed made people find her interesting and full of ideas.
Suddenly, President Yu turned towards Lin Zhiyi, who had been silent.
“Miss Lin, everyone has spoken, what about your opinion?”
Lin Zhiyi slowly said, “Can I come closer to observe?”
Before President Yu could speak, Song Wanqiu expressed her doubt.
“Zhiyi, aren’t you known as the top expert in our school’s specialty? How can you not understand such obvious jewelry?”
Known.
Song Wanqiu’s intent was to tell President Yu that Lin Zhiyi was merely a pretender.
Lin Zhiyi smiled, “I was asking President Yu.”
Song Wanqiu choked and shot her a stealthy glare.
President Yu was generous, waving her hand, “Go ahead.”
Lin Zhiyi then stepped forward and carefully lifted her hand for a closer look.
“I think… this is good.”
She pointed at the empty middle finger.
Song Wanqiu glanced over, covered her lips, and coldly laughed, the inexperienced being nervous enough to point wrong when seeing something good.
Shen Yan, pretending to be concerned, tugged at Lin Zhiyi’s sleeve and reminded, “Zhiyi, don’t talk nonsense. President Yu doesn’t wear a ring on this finger.”
Lin Zhiyi raised her eyes to look at Shen Yan and retorted, “When did President Yu ask you which ring looked good? Since it’s on President Yu’s hand, it’s her own property, how she wears it is her affair, not ours to interfere with.”
Her words left Shen Yan and the others pale-faced, struggling to recall that President Yu had never really asked about the rings.
They had assumed too much.
Lin Zhiyi, pointing at the nail polish colors on President Yu’s middle and ring fingers, said, “The two colors are similar, not very distinct from afar, that’s why I wanted a closer look.”
“Considering President Yu’s attire tonight, which is primarily light-colored, the nail color on the ring finger is a nude shade, very ordinary under restaurant lighting. But the middle finger’s color is closer to lotus-pink, which emits a faint pink hue when holding a wine glass, giving a good complexion.”
“So, I think the nail color on the middle finger suits today’s attire more.”
As soon as Lin Zhiyi finished, President Yu stared at her with a smile, a hint of admiration in her eyes.
“I wondered why Xue Man suddenly had an intern come over, it seems someone was hiding a gem, but it appears… Xue Man wasn’t the only one hiding someone.”
President Yu glanced sideways at Gong Chen sipping tea.
Gong Chen calmly put down his teacup, his fingertips twirling the cup’s rim, his red jadeite ring adding a touch of mystery amidst the steam.
He said coolly, “Let’s talk business.”
President Yu didn’t say much, stood up and gestured, “Let’s step aside for a chat.”
Gong Chen followed her to the side.
Meanwhile, a crestfallen Song Wanqiu exchanged a glance with Shen Yan.
Shen Yan, taking Lin Zhiyi’s arm, said, “Zhiyi, I want to go to the washroom, will you accompany me?”
Lin Zhiyi looked at her, “Sure.”
