Chapter 51: Wild Plot

As Ryan walked amidst the chained royalty, he turned his system on covertly.

When he had gained a lot of Skill Points after levelling up so much, Ryan had used most of it on his other skills. But he had left nine points to use in case something emergency came up—and blame the devil, something emergency had come up.

He was going to use those nine points.

I could either use these skill points on an actually useful skill for survival, or I could try improving my Twin Telepathy.

But what if Sera is not close at all?

No way.

She should be tracking me, I am sure we are not far from the city that I was abducted in. Knowing my mother and Sera, they should be on my tails. Maybe Eleanor as well, if she fought off her enemies.

Ryan decided to bet on the fact that Sera was close by.

[Twin Telepathy (Lv.1)]

[A rare psychic bond between you and Seraphina that allows for direct mental communication when in physical contact. At its current level, the telepathic connection is basic but still profound, enabling the exchange of thoughts, memories, emotions, and understanding of abstract concepts without the need for spoken words.]

Level up.

A weird sensation passed by him and Ryan felt the skill’s descriptions change physically.

[Twin Telepathy (Lv.2)]

[A rare psychic bond between you and Seraphina that allows for direct mental communication within a 10 cm radius between each other]

Not enough. Level up!

[Twin Telepathy (Lv.3)]

[A rare psychic bond between you and Seraphina that allows for direct mental communication within a 1 meter radius between each other]

Good but far from enough.

Level up. Level up. Level up!!!

One level after another increased an Ryan could feel the tingly sensation in his mind becoming stronger and stronger. It was a brain tinglingly weird sensation, but he kept a stoic face.

Level u—

Oh, I reached the limit.

Ryan took a deep breath.

[Twin Telepathy (Lv.10)]

[A rare psychic bond between you and Seraphina that allows for direct mental communication within a 1 kilometer radius between each other. Now, not only can you share emotions, thoughts, concepts and similar, but you can also share senses like taste, smell, and eyesight between both of you. You can also roughly sense how far you are from each other.]

Ryan was all out of Skill Points but it was alright.

This was much better than he expected.

He closed his eyes, feeling a sensation.

My other half is not that far from me. Hm, about 12 kilometer to the north? Is that north? Where did the sun rise again? East? West? Fuck. She is to my left 12 kilometers or so away.

...

On another side of the Great Wilderness, Sera’s red eyes flickered to her right. She yelled, "Mother, Ryan is westward. Roughly 12 kilometers away."

Lysandra turned to look at her and nodded. "That’s the direction where the Human Giant Slayer went on a slaughter, it is going to be a bit dangerous. Are you coming?"

"Yes."

For these two people, twelve kilometers was not much of a distance at all.

...

Meanwhile, Ryan walked with his head held low, eyes downcast. Sera was moving faster and faster, closer and closer to him. The closer she got, the more comfortable Ryan felt—he had that much trust in her.

But at the same time, he became worried.

Will they be able to handle the giant leading us?

The group walked through the corpse filled rampage zone where the Human Giant Slayer had gone on a rampage. Ryan had the urge to use Heavely Plunder on these strong corpses, but he did not dare—using it on people of lower or equal strength would make him exhaust himself and there were also other, weirder limitations to that.

8 kilometers away.

7 kilometers.

4.

3.

"I do not like your calm," the Giant in front turned sharply to look at Ryan. "Be more afraid. If you are not afraid, act afraid for me."

A pair of fair hands wrapped around the creature’s neck.

"Can I act afraid on his behalf?" a cold voice asked.

The giant lifted its head in disbelief to see a cold, crimson pair of eyes looking down on him. It was Seraphina, her body standing atop the horse the giant was raiding. The Giant tried to move, grow bigger, or act out of instinct at the first sight of her.

But it was too late.

He found that he could not move.

Lysandra sat on a branch nearby, her legs swinging. A needle glinted in her hand—her weapon, the petrifying shot.

Seraphina moved.

SNAP.

The giant’s neck was severed clean.

With her skills, it was possible to kill a petrified giant that was much stronger than her physically.

Watching it all unfold, though, Ryan did not feel one bit glad. He felt his stomach fall to the bottom of the barrel—no, this was wrong. This was too easy.

Something is amiss.

His enhanced eyes roamed around the wilderness, he noticed each flapping wind, each falling leaf. He noticed the delighted expressions of the princes and princesses, the geysering blood of the giant that had just been killed.

He noticed Seraphina’s profound expression of relief.

He noticed the tension in Lysandra’s brows.

’No, this is a trap. We were bait. My mother and Sera are the fish.’

The sky broke apart.

A giant hand moved out of the crack.

It ignored Seraphina. It ignored Ryan.

It went directly for Lysandra, the backbone of the Human Race. The undisputed best healer that no one from among the race could even come close to in capability. The Genetic Saintess.

No!

Lysandra’s face became utterly sad in the span of a millisecond.

That hand was too strong.

Something close to level 80.

Far from her level.

Ryan felt his heart tighten.

Lysandra looked at her son and daughter, her face slowly morphing into a deeply satisfied one. If I am to die here, I will send you two to safety first.

She closed her eyes.

"Foolish woman, always putting my boy Ryan at risk."

A shadow loomed below the giant hand falling towards them, a single woman with horns. Wings. And a majestic figure.

Then, all Ryan felt was a destructive boom and the next thing he knew—he was standing back in the royal palace, sipping tea and looking out the window.

Ryan... blinked.

"Sera, I think something weird just happened."

"Hm?" Sera frowned as well.

Weren’t they just fighting giants, how did they appear here?

Next, Lysandra appeared.

All of them looked at each other weirdly.

Then, Lysandra said with some hesitation: "I think this is Eleanor’s iconic teleportation skill."

"Yeah it is." A pair of arms appeared and wrapped around Ryan’s neck from the back. A bouncy something rested on top of his head. "I just teleported all of us out of that shithole of a warzone."

Ryan looked up at the bounciness.

Eleanor sighed. "I was thinking I’d give Ryan a chance to experience some real threat to build some life experience. But well, he ruined it for himself."

Ryan blinked.

Wait, what is going on?

Fuck this magical undramatic bullshit.

This was fucking with his mind.

"Eleanor, you orchestrated this entire thing about going to the jungle to train him!" Sera shouted, coming to a realization.

Eleanor sighed. "I knew a war was going to happen. Just wanted to give him some early crumbs of the cookie. He didn’t capitalize on the chance. Well, it doesn’t matter anyway. It just proved that he is smart enough to realize the best choice in that situation."

He had escaped too easily, but that was also his own quick thinking.

Eleanor kissed the top of his head and whispered: "Here, I’ve put you back where I took you. Enjoy your leisurely life here as usual. Aunt will be back in a while."

Lysandra remained dead silent.

Eleanor vanished.

Awkward silence.

"... I was so damn scared. Eleanor is a bit extreme, right?"

Sera nodded. "She is too manipulative. She is always two steps ahead."

Lysandra remained silent.

She had this weird feeling that her own son had been stolen from her.

Ryan took a deep breath.

That was a wild, undramatic, but unexpected side quest.

He restlessly took Seraphina’s hand, connecting their thoughts and emotions into one.

She calmed him down.freeωebnovēl.c૦m
