Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer-Chapter 804: Green Life Corp
Chapter 804: Green Life Corp
A few days had gone by since Xu Feng had conducted his own unique style of interrogation against KaleSalad at the city's prison.
Back in the real world, the Green Life Corp commenced an emergency meeting due to the overwhelming backlash they were facing.
Lumora City
On the highest floor of Green Life Corp, multiple people's faces were ashen white, with a few being extremely pale.
Green Life Corp's President, Sylvan Greene, sat at the center of the meeting, and his face was completely darkened. His posture was firm and steady, but anyone could tell it was just the calm before the storm.
"I've received multiple calls from shareholders, all of them blasting at me," Sylvan spoke softly, his gaze shifting to the people at the meeting table. Or more specifically, those who were involved with the Divine World.
"It's the first time the shareholders disregard me completely and I can't even hold my head up when interacting with them. Do you know how ashamed and embarrassed I was when I had to lower my stance to please them?"
Throughout his years since creating Green Life Corp and building it up to a top 1000 fortune company, Sylvan never had to hold his head down anymore.
However, the stock market dropped by 20% almost instantaneously.
It was then followed by numerous reports about their crisis, a large crowd even stood by their door entrance, and questioned why they went against humanity.
Sylvan nearly had a stroke and thought it was some kind of prank or an attack by his competitors.
Yet after intensive investigation, Sylvan was informed that this major crisis that happened from out of nowhere stemmed from their activity in the Divine World.
Initially, Sylvan was startled by the Divine World and wondered what company it was—only for it to be a VRMMORPG that had become immensely popular and even influenced the economy.
His mind had always been focused on health and the production aspect. Therefore, he was out of touch with the video game trend.
'A video game capable of ruining my company, and it's done by these damn people. Just how did they even get promoted to sit in this place?' Sylvan tried his best to calm down.
"My secretary said this all happened because of someone from the Vanguard Guild, and I must ask why? Why did you try to mess with them, Frederick? Did they try to attack or smear our company's value?" His eyes narrowed, his brows wrinkled as he looked directly at the person in charge of managing the Divine World's activity.
Frederick, the chief of external development, sweated profusely upon being stared at by the President.
With all eyes on Frederick, he knew if he didn't speak up, his life would be over.
"Replying to the President, the Vanguard Guild didn't have any grudges with us," Frederick said.
SLAM!
Sylvan's palm slammed heavily on the meeting table.
His secretary behind panicked and wondered if Sylvan had injured himself. But he dared not step in at the moment, given Sylvan's calm composure was no more.
It would have been somewhat better if he had been informed that the Vanguard Guild provoked them first. But now he was being told that they didn't do anything to provoke them.
How could he not be furious?
"Have your brain rotted with all the salaries you've been receiving?" Sylvan finally exploded and roared thunderously.
"You provoked someone for no reason and caused the shareholders and our company to suffer tremendously. Give me one reason why I shouldn't have you buried alive?"
Frederick's body shuddered and without hesitation, got off his seat and knelt on the ground.
His forehead kissed the floor, but he didn't care about his appearance. "We were contacted by the Malefic Order Guild and they offered a large sum of money if we cooperated."
"A large sum of money? Or is it more like a bribe to fatten your wallet?" Sylvan snorted. He could easily discern Frederick's motive in a heartbeat.
He didn't raise the company to this much based on others but through his brain and cautious nature.
Sure enough, Frederick was forced to reveal the truth.
Apparently, the Malefic Order Guild promised to pay him 70 million dollars, but only 20 million would be on official record. In other words, Frederick had pocketed 50 million dollars for himself.
"Malefic Order Guild? Just what kind of guild is that?" Sylvan was so disappointed that he no longer wished to converse further with Frederick.
His question was soon answered by his secretary. "President, the Malefic Order Guild is under the banner of Maleficent Limited and their revenue exceeds us by 10 times."
'Maleficent Limited…' It took Sylvan a few moments to finally recall why the company name was so familiar. 'So it's them. No wonder they could throw out 70 million dollars like nothing.'
By now, Sylvan already knew trying to get back at the Maleficent Limited would be impossible. Nevertheless, this grudge would be remembered deeply.
"What should we do now, President?" Sylvan's secretary, Tess, asked.
"First, try your best to see if you can contact the representative of the Vanguard Guild. Second, I don't wish to see Frederick roaming around. Then, I'll need you to give me a few solutions to resolve the current media and our plummeting stocks, Tess." Sylvan responded after taking a deep breath.
Tess, who received his order, nodded in response. Without hesitation, she snapped her fingers, and soon a few men dressed in black suits arrived at the meeting.
"N-No, I was wrong, President. Please give me a chance." Frederick panicked as soon as he saw those bodyguards arriving.
"I'm willing to return the 50 million dollars and more." He banged his head repeatedly in hopes of earning some leniency.
Unfortunately, his plea of cries went to deaf ears, and he was soon forcefully dragged away.
The people in the meeting room acted as if they didn't see anything. They wouldn't even bother to ask about Frederick anymore. Either he was going to be eliminated in some discreet place, or sent to prison for embezzlement.
Amidst the grim atmosphere, Secretary Tess suddenly became alarmed.
"President, there's a man called Xu Feng in the lobby stating that he wishes to meet with you. He claimed to be from the Vanguard Guild." Tess reported.
