Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 110 Picky (First Update)
Chapter 110: Chapter 110 Picky (First Update)
Rhein and the others exchanged perplexed glances and looked at Su Ming, voicing their doubts.
"Is no one home?"
"Not necessarily."
Su Ming immediately pressed the doorbell again.
As the doorbell sound ceased, he continued to press it repeatedly.
Finally, on his seventh try, staggering footsteps came from inside the house, followed by the door being flung open.
Mia appeared before everyone, disheveled in a red dress nightgown, her wavy hair tangled in a mess, her eyes half-open, emitting the smell of alcohol from all over her body.
Rhein and the others were momentarily stunned, unsure of how to begin with the prepared remarks.
Su Ming greeted her with a tremendous headache.
"Teacher, sorry to disturb you."
Mia yawned, looking like she had just woken up, and replied,
"Oh, it’s you guys? What are you doing here so early in the morning?"
"Teacher, could we talk inside?"
Su Ming sighed as he responded.
"Come in."
Mia walked inside, exhausted.
"Sorry to intrude!"
Su Ming said and led the way into the house.
When they entered Mia’s home, everyone had trouble maintaining their composure. The floor was littered with empty liquor bottles covered in a layer of dust.
The sofa was strewn with dirty clothes; one could even spot sexy lingerie. A perfectly good house was in complete disarray.
Mia didn’t seem to mind the mess at all as she walked to the sofa, flopped down with her head thrown back, and spoke weakly,
"Alright, what is it?"
Everyone instantly turned their gaze to Su Ming. He sighed and said to Mia,
"Teacher, here’s the thing, other classes have already started tutoring sessions. We were hoping you could start classes for us too so that we don’t fall too far behind them."
Su Ming explained their purpose succinctly.
Mia, who had still been in a half-asleep state, suddenly widened her eyes after hearing Su Ming’s words, as if to say they were crazy.
"What are you talking about, it’s vacation now! What classes are you talking about tutoring?"
"Teacher, other classes are already doing it."
Rhein couldn’t hold back any longer and interjected directly.
"If they’re sick and insist on taking classes, that’s their problem. I don’t want to!"
Mia shook her head continuously, vehemently rejecting the idea. It was a joke; she didn’t even want to teach classes when school was in session, let alone offer supplementary lessons.
"Teacher, you can’t be like this. Our grades are already not as good as the other classes. If we don’t start early as slow starters, the gap will only widen."
Rhein and the others were also getting anxious.
"NO! I don’t want to!"
Mia rejected without hesitation.
Rhein and the others immediately became annoyed. Just as they were about to speak out, Su Ming sighed, raised his hand to stop them, and said,
"Stop!"
"Class president?"
Rhein and the others looked at him, not understanding.
"Let me do it. Teacher, what do we need to do for you to agree to start classes for us ahead of schedule?"
Su Ming asked Mia with a serious expression and calm tone.
Mia’s eyes lit up when she heard Su Ming’s words, and she soon flashed a radiant smile, saying,
"You guys need to understand one thing: it’s vacation, and I’m not obligated to give you classes. If those teachers like to work overtime because they’re crazy, that’s their business. However, considering how eager you all are to learn, starting classes early isn’t out of the question, but I have a condition."
"You say it, as long as we can do it."
Su Ming sighed and responded.
"First, you bring me a bottle of white liquor to rinse my mouth with, then we can talk."
Mia said with a giggle.
Su Ming turned his head and said to Rhein,
"Rhein, go buy a bottle of alcohol and we’ll settle the cost later."
"Fine!"
Rhein, although feeling quite frustrated, seemed to have no better option at the moment, so he immediately turned around and left to buy the alcohol.
Then Su Ming continued, speaking to Angel and the other girls,
"Help the teacher clean up those personal clothes, and the rest of you, take the opportunity while the alcohol is being bought to clean up the house a little."
Su Ming simply couldn’t stand it anymore, it was really too messy.
"Okay!"
Angel and the others didn’t refuse, they also felt uncomfortable.
So everyone got moving and began to clean Mia’s house.
"Ah, thank you all for your hard work."
Mia lay on the sofa and shouted with a giggly smile.
Su Ming and the others cast a look of disdain at Mia in unison, then silently continued cleaning.
A short while later, Su Ming and the others had tidied up the messy house. Although it wasn’t very clean, it at least looked presentable.
At that moment, Rhein came back with a bottle of white liquor, somewhat reluctantly handing the bottle to Mia.
Mia quickly took it, then opened the cap and took a gulp.
But the next second, Mia immediately spat it out. Then she put the bottle of alcohol on the table with utter revulsion and said,
"This is terrible, I’m not drinking it!"
Upon hearing this, Rhein was close to exploding with anger, gritting his teeth as he said,
"This bottle of alcohol cost me 2,000 Federation dollars!"
"I don’t drink the synthetic stuff; I want grain-fermented."
Mia smacked her lips, saying with great pickiness.
Rhein and the others had a hard time with Mia’s words. Natural grain was more expensive than vegetables; alcohol fermented from natural grain was ridiculously expensive.
Su Ming also showed a wry smile; the request was a bit too much, but he couldn’t very well criticize the teacher, and so he explained calmly,
"Teacher, grain-fermented is too expensive, can we lower the quality a bit?"
"No way, bring the alcohol if you want to start the class!"
Mia stood her ground, holding out her hand.
Seeing that there was no reasoning with Mia, Su Ming turned to Rhein and the others and asked,
"How much for a bottle of grain-fermented alcohol?"
"200,000."
Rhein replied with irritation.
"Right, so now you see, the teacher wants grain-fermented alcohol. We have two choices, give up or split the cost as a group."
Su Ming asked for the opinion of Rhein and the others quite straightforwardly.
Rhein and the others looked at each other; 200,000 Federation dollars divided among the 50 students in the class would be 4,000 Federation dollars each. It hurt a bit, but it was just barely acceptable, so they all replied,
"Then let’s split it."
"Okay, 4,000 Federation dollars from each person. As the class president, I’ll contribute an extra 2,000 Federation dollars, and the bottle of alcohol from earlier will be considered a personal purchase! Now, transfer the money to Rhein, and Rhein, you go buy it."
Su Ming arranged everything clearly and directed Rhein to go make the purchase.
Angel and the others transferred the money to Rhein; once Rhein had collected everyone’s contribution, he left again, frustrated and resentful.
Su Ming stood quietly, waiting.
About ten minutes later, Rhein returned, slightly out of breath, holding a very elegantly packaged bottle of white liquor.
When Mia saw the bottle, her eyes immediately lit up, and she couldn’t wait to shout,
"Quick, bring it here."
Rhein, irritated, handed the bottle over to Mia.
Mia skillfully unwrapped the package, took out the bottle inside, then opened the cap and took a big gulp.
"Wow, that’s refreshing! That’s the feeling I’m talking about."
