Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 41 - Sinister
41: Chapter 41 Sinister
41 -41 Sinister
“You’re tough, aren’t you afraid I’ll just shoot you dead?”
Su Ming asked calmly.
“You dare?
You’re already guilty of illegal gun possession.
If you kill me, you might as well prepare to spend the second half of your life in prison!”
Wang Qiang said venomously.
After listening to Wang Qiang, Su Ming replied composedly,
“Sorry, but you’ve got one thing wrong; I’m not carrying a gun illegally—I have a gun license!”
“How is that possible?”
Wang Qiang’s eyes showed disbelief upon hearing Su Ming’s words.
He knew how difficult it was to obtain a gun license.
Could this guy really have one?
In fact, Su Ming’s gun license was arranged by the Su Family; he had requested it for his grandfather’s birthday.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have his own firearm mainly because Su Yuan wouldn’t buy him one, fearing he’d hurt himself.
“There’s nothing impossible about it.
Also, take a look at what this is?”
Su Ming took out his phone with his left hand from his pocket, and with a click, an audio recording started to play.
“How about that?
Today I’m going to kill you!”
Wang Qiang’s face turned deathly pale as he listened to the recording.
“What do you say, given this recording plus the fact that so many of you with bats are surrounding me, couldn’t I claim self-defense?
Could I not shoot you dead on the spot?”
Su Ming asked with a cold voice.
Sweat beaded on Wang Qiang’s forehead, and a hint of fear appeared on his face, but he still gritted his teeth and said,
“You can’t kill me; you’d be in trouble.
The prosecutor might not believe you!”
“Do you think the prosecutor will believe me, a student, or you thugs, scum?”
Su Ming unapologetically quenched Wang Qiang’s last glimmer of hope.
Wang Qiang immediately lost his earlier bravado and could only capitulate, asking,
“So, what do you want?”
“What do I want?
Tell me who is behind this.”
Su Ming stared at Wang Qiang as he spoke.
Annoyed, Wang Qiang said to Su Ming,
“Don’t play dumb, obviously it was Zhang Tai who sent us to take you down.”
“Good, if you want to live, it’s best you help me testify against Zhang Tai.”
Su Ming showed a faint smile upon Wang Qiang’s reply.
Wang Qiang’s expression changed, and he immediately responded,
“It’s impossible, I could never testify against him.”
Wang Qiang understood better than anyone the situation in Zhang Tai’s family.
For Zhang Tai to dispose of someone like him, a worthless punk, was far too easy.
“That’s not up to you now, is it?
Look at this.”
Su Ming pressed his phone again, playing a video in which Wang Qiang was heard saying,
“Don’t play dumb, obviously it was Zhang Tai who sent us to take you down.”
“You, you actually recorded it?
You did this on purpose, how could you be so underhanded?”
Wang Qiang looked at Su Ming in utter terror, not expecting this nerdy guy to be so cunning as to set a trap for him.
Remaining calm and collected, Su Ming threatened,
“Now, I have two pieces of recording and video.
Should I use the first one to accuse you of murder, or should I use the second one to have you cooperate and press charges against Zhang Tai?”
Wang Qiang and the others were suddenly at a loss for words, speechless. freēwēbnovel.com
Leaning against the wall, Su Ming looked at them and said with a smile.
“Don’t rush; I’ll give you some time to think it over slowly!”
The group felt even more tangled inside, as each path laid out before them led to a dead end.
About half an hour later, a burst of hurried footsteps suddenly sounded, and the group turned their heads to look.
They saw Su Yuan arriving with a bunch of security guards from the dump site.
“Son, son!”
Su Yuan called out anxiously.
Su Ming watched Su Yuan running towards him, folded up his gun, and glanced at the time displayed on his smartphone.
He wasn’t surprised by Su Yuan’s arrival; it was almost exactly as he had anticipated, even a bit earlier.
Su Ming had long noticed he was being followed.
Although he had a gun, he sent a message to Su Yuan immediately as a precaution in case anything went wrong on his end.
The thugs at the scene all looked ashen-faced, knowing very well that they couldn’t escape today and squatted obediently.
At that moment, Su Yuan rushed over to Su Ming and quickly checked his hands and feet, asking urgently.
“Son, are you hurt anywhere?”
“I’m fine, Father.
You don’t have to be so worried.
But come with me, there’s something I need to tell you.
Have your men look after this bunch.”
Su Ming said calmly to Su Yuan.
“Hu Jia, keep an eye on them.
Anyone who dares to run, break their legs.
I’ll deal with them later.
They must be tired of living, daring to bully my son.”
Su Yuan angrily gave the order to Hu Jia.
To be honest, Su Yuan was close to exploding.
This was his one and only precious son.
Were these people trying to drive his son to death by causing trouble day after day?
“Yes, Master!”
Seeing Su Yuan enraged, Hu Jia quickly responded.
After making arrangements, Su Yuan followed Su Ming to the side and then asked.
“Son, go ahead.”
“Father, these people are just the enforcers.
The real mastermind is Zhang Tai, the ’emperor’ of our school.”
“Alright, turns out he’s the one bullying you.
Son, I’ll send these people straight to the security bureau, and then we’ll go catch him!”
“Father, hear me out.
After these people are sent to the security bureau, don’t charge them immediately, and don’t have anyone go to catch him just yet.”
Su Ming quickly intervened to stop his father.
“What?
Why?”
Su Yuan was completely baffled.
Seeing the confusion on Su Yuan’s face, Su Ming couldn’t help but sigh.
His father really didn’t seem too sharp, so he patiently explained.
“Father, charging and arresting him now won’t do much good.
Even though I have video evidence right now and could persuade Wang Qiang to incriminate him, Zhang Tai’s family has a very powerful background.
The entire school knows this.
Most likely, they’d trivialize a big issue and dismiss a small one, which wouldn’t be very satisfying.”
“Ah, but we can’t just let it slide like that.”
Su Yuan couldn’t swallow his pride.
“I don’t intend to let it slide.
What I mean is, send these people to a security bureau you trust and keep them there.
Then on the day of the city examination, have someone catch him!
By then, even if he has connections through the roof, just being delayed a few hours will cause him to miss the city exam, and that will completely ruin him.”
Su Ming spoke as if narrating something utterly mundane.
“I understand now.
You truly are my son, so clever.
I know what to do now.”
Upon hearing Su Ming’s explanation, Su Yuan suddenly saw the light.
“Remember, you must rely on your most trustworthy contacts to carry out this task.”
Su Ming picked up his smartphone, sent the recording and video to Su Yuan, and again reminded him.
In fact, Su Ming had never forgotten the previous incident where Zhang Tai sent people to block him.
It wasn’t that he wouldn’t retaliate; he just hadn’t found the right opportunity.
Now that Zhang Tai had delivered himself to the doorstep, Su Ming naturally planned to hit him where it hurt.
Missing the city exam was a very serious matter.
Firstly, Zhang Tai had been hoping to apply to the Imperial Court Academy, and missing the city exam meant squandering his future prospects.
