Sons of a devil-Chapter 71: bloodline awakening
Chapter 71 - bloodline awakening
The wind howled like an omen as they left the safehouse. Cain led the way, his coat snapping behind him, flanked by Leo and Eren. Selene followed close, her hands wrapped tightly around the hilt of her blade. Aelira walked behind them, silent and watchful. The night was heavy with anticipation; even the stars seemed to hold their breath.
They were headed toward the ruins of Nareth Hollow—an ancient place once sealed away from mortal eyes. That was where Aelira believed the next sibling would awaken. One of the hidden children of their father.
"Are we ready for this?" Leo asked as they walked beneath gnarled branches. His voice was quiet, a rare tremor laced in his tone.
"No," Cain answered honestly. "But we'll go anyway."

Eren chuckled dryly. "Sounds about right."
They reached the gates of the Hollow by dawn. Time felt distorted there. Trees twisted unnaturally, and the air was laced with old power. As they stepped into the ruins, the wind ceased. It was as if the world paused.
Selene's hand brushed against Cain's. He didn't flinch. He simply laced their fingers together for a moment—silent, but reassuring.
"Something's watching," Eren murmured.
"I feel it too," Selene said. Her eyes glowed faintly—her power responding to the call of darkness.
The silence shattered with a scream.
It was raw, inhuman. It came from the heart of the ruins.
They ran.
And they found her.
A girl. No older than twenty. Her hair wild, eyes burning gold. Her body trembled as black smoke coiled from her spine. She was fighting something inside her—her awakening.
Cain stepped forward. "She's one of us."
"Or what's left of her," Leo muttered.
The ground shook beneath them. A jagged beast rose from the shadows behind the girl—horned, wailing, made of nightmares. It lashed out, knocking Selene back.
Cain didn't hesitate. His hands ignited with black flame. He dove forward, striking the beast with a roar. Eren joined him, water swirling and hardening around his fists. Leo summoned spears of light, driving them into the creature's chest.
Selene pushed herself up, blood at her temple. She raised both hands—and the sky answered.
Thunder cracked. Light exploded. The beast screamed.
But it didn't die.
Instead, it latched onto the girl again—feeding off her chaos, her fear.
"She's the host," Aelira cried. "You have to break the bond!"
Selene's power surged again, more than ever before. Her eyes turned white, her voice echoing with something older. "Let. Her. Go!"
The ground split beneath them.
Power flooded the Hollow.
And finally, the beast shattered into ash.
The girl collapsed. Cain caught her before she hit the earth.
She looked up at him, dazed. "Who... who am I?"
Cain met her gaze. "You're one of us."
Later, as they rested by the fire they'd built among the ruins, the girl slept wrapped in Leo's coat.
"She's strong," Selene said, rubbing her sore arms. "Like... stronger than me when I first awakened."
"She'll need time," Aelira murmured. "But she's not the last. There are more. And your father is getting closer."
Cain stared into the fire. "Then we find them. Before he does."
Selene leaned against him, her head on his shoulder. "We'll do it together."
For a moment, there was peace.
But in the distance, a whisper carried on the wind.
A voice that sounded too familiar.
"I'm coming, my children."
