SpiderGwen: I have a system?!-Chapter 190: The Chosen World

[3rd POV]

It was a couple of days later when Gwen had the team built and trained with her clones. The first team was built up of Nightcrawler, Mystique, Storm, Magneto, and finally Rogue. Each of them were currently being trained in interacting with mutants and how to recruit them in a safe manner, as not all mutants would be very welcoming of them.

Each of them were chosen for specific reasons. Nightcrawler for his teleportation, Mystique for her ability to warp her form into various others, Storm for her ability to control the weather and her understanding and experience, Magneto for his power, and intimidation, and Rogue for her ability to siphon the powers of others, stopping them from becoming a threat should it reach that point.

Gwen already had plans for another team that would be made up of more telepathy users, like Emma Frost, Xavier, and a few others. They would be dealing with the more dangerous worlds where the mental aspect of things would be more important than the power aspect.

Gwen had already finished the devices needed for them to travel to other universes, now it was just a matter of waiting for them to be ready.

While they were getting trained by her clones, Gwen was looking at a monitor, on it, was the names of countless items, some of them had checks next to them, while many more had nothing next to them.

These objects were all a part of project "Rebirth" as well as a handful being a part of project "Infinite Swarm" and a couple other projects she had been working on. Project Rebirth was by far the most important of them all, and also the most difficult of them all.

Looking over the items, there were two that she paused as she looked at them. Both of them were very very closely connected to one another, and were incredibly powerful on their own, but once she gathered them for herself, they were even stronger due to her various powers being a perfect combination with them.

There were others that were just as strong, if not stronger, but they were...difficult, and she had to be VERY careful how she utilized that power, and what she did with it, which meant a lot of experimentation.

'Those two should be easy enough to gather, with both of them being in the same universe together. But that one...that one will be difficult, it's not something I can just take, and isn't something the current me can handle beyond trapping it until I can' Gwen thought, knowing that she would need to place them all with her other objects that she couldn't mess with, like the Darkhold.

'The only problem with gathering them is that one of them is being used by a pretty strong, evil dick. The other is hidden away, but should be easy to find. And...knowing my moral compass, I'll need to save the mutants there. But...that might be difficult with the big guys paying close attention to that world' Gwen thought with a sigh, leaning back as she looked at the information she had on the world she planned on going to first, the world being...

Earth 295, aka...

The Age of Apocalypse

While Gwen was in Malzif, contemplating her plans for the future, Nick Fury was wishing he had taken an easier job, perhaps a desk one, literally anything but this.

Why?

Because the entire damn mutant population just...disappeared! Over 17 million people, just gone! All quitting their jobs, leaving their homes, and just...disappearing! Not just mutants, but also their families, their parents, all of them!

And the World Security Council was throwing a fit over it. As a lot of them turned out to be rather important, ranging from simple workers to congressmen and diplomats. Not only that, but they didn't even give a reason why, they just left, gone, not seen again.

No amount of investigation had given them any sort of evidence as to what had happened to them. They had tried everything in their arsenal, even gotten the Avengers to investigate, as 17 million people were missing now, so it made sense to call upon them.

But even they hadn't found anything. Not even when using Starks tech, not when having them investigate every corner of the globe for months, nothing.

SHIELD has had the Mutants of Earth under watchful eyes for decades now, pretty much since Magneto had reared his head back in the 90's. But this was unlike anything they had seen, and the fact that normal humans were gone too, meant that something had happened, something bad.

"Any more information on where the hell all these people disappeared off to?" Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye asked. He had been one of the members of the growing Avengers, that had been called to look into the disappearance of the mutants, and was one of the ones that couldn't find anything.

"None. Stark can't find shit, we can't find shit, no one can find anything. It's like they disappeared off the face of the Earth" Nick said with a grumble, massaging his forehead as he could feel a headache coming on from all of this crap that he has been dealing with over the past year.

Not only were mutants disappearing, but the Ghost Spider had remained active, and was now being spotted in more places than just New York, having been spotted in Detroit, Chicago, LA, and even Seattle. All the while she was actively wiping out crime rings in the cities, and being referred more and more by the day.

Everyday she appeared without fail. Just as the "Shadow" had continued to move around the world, doing who knows what anymore.

All in all, Nick Fury was not having a fun time, not at all.

Upon hearing the words "Disappeared off the face of the Earth" Clint went silent, before looking at Nick and speaking.

"Boss...you said "Disappeared off the face of the Earth". What if...what if they aren't on Earth anymore?" Clint asked, as the man stopped and looked at Clint.

"What? I just mean that we had an invasion happen not that long ago, would it be too much to say that we could unknowingly be being invaded right now? The mutants of Earth being kidnapped or something, maybe for their power? I mean, even amongst aliens, they've gotta be unique" Clint continued, as the bald headed man frowned as he began to think about what Clint was saying.

As the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. There were not many other explanations that would make sense in a case like this, one that wasn't just in the US, but around the world, in every country on the planet, even the ones like North Korea.

"You might be onto something, Barton. Get Stark and Danvers on the phone! I want Stark to look into the possibility of making a ship that can achieve space travel! And I want Danvers to fly out there and look around, have her start with the Moon and then Mars!" Nick Fury ordered as Clint nodded, running off to give them the news.

"Are you sure that's the right course, Director? I know that Danvers can go into space easily enough, but Stark? The resources needed for that sort of thing would be immense, even by his standards, and sure as hell by ours" Maria Hill asked, as she had been silently listening to the conversation.

"It's the best choice we've got, and the only one that makes sense, Hill. Stark's got the brains for this, and Danvers the power. If they aren't on either the Moon or Mars, I don't know where they'll be, and I don't want to think about the reactions that will cause. The fact that the damn media hasn't gotten word of this yet is a miracle" Nick replied with a grunt, knowing that it was only a matter of time.

The media had not found out yet thanks to Gwen, as otherwise they would have found out in literal hours.

"Alright, I'll go and help Barton with this, knowing Stark he'll have questions that Barton can't answer" Hill said before walking off, leaving Nick alone, only one line of words escaping him as she left.

"...I'm too old for this shit"
