Spy-x-War Showdown-Chapter 47 - 46 The Weakling
47: Chapter 46 The Weakling
47 -46 The Weakling
It’s hard to define the feelings between Yang Yi and Kate, to begin with, it wasn’t love; they hadn’t reached that point yet.
Neither was it friendship, as there was no such thing between them before they were chased.
To call it comradeship would be completely off the mark, yet after surviving near-death experiences together, they had at least become very intimate with each other.
In his life, apart from close contact with his mother when he was young, Yang Yi had never been physically close to any girl, but now he could help Kate with the most intimate matters without any psychological disturbances.
After helping Kate with something only the closest person would do, Yang Yi washed his hands, and said to Kate, who could only rest in bed, “I’ve hired a caregiver for you.
She’ll come to work at eight o’clock, and I’ll be back in the evening to look after you then.”
Kate gazed at Yang Yi and asked softly, “What are you going to do?”
Yang Yi smiled and replied, “I’m starting my training.
The captain asked me to start today.”
Kate murmured absentmindedly, “So soon…”
“The sooner, the better; we don’t have much time to wait.
You rest well, I’ll see you when I get back, goodbye.”
“Wait.”
Kate called out to Yang Yi urgently and then carefully said, “You’ll come back, right?”
Yang Yi couldn’t help but laugh, “Of course I’ll come back.
Where else could I go?”
Kate breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Okay, then go, and I wish you all the best.”
Yang Yi closed the door and quickly walked downstairs, where he saw Danny who had just entered the shop.
In front of Danny was a bowl of porridge and a plate of rice noodle rolls, enjoying his meal alone.
Upon seeing Yang Yi, he pointed his chopsticks at the pot beside him and loudly said, “Help yourself, eat more.”
The nice restaurant didn’t serve breakfast, and had Danny not prepared some, Yang Yi really would not have known where to have breakfast.
Yang Yi served himself a bowl of preserved egg and pork congee then filled a plate with stir-fried rice noodles just like Danny’s.
He tasted a bite with a pair of chopsticks and commented, “This tastes good, did the chef make it?”
“I made it myself, eat more.”
Putting down his spoon, Danny looked at Yang Yi and said in a deep voice, “I’ve drawn up a plan for you.
First, you have to train your physical fitness.
You’re smart, but fitness is the foundation of everything.
A smart brain alone isn’t enough.
Without a good body, you won’t train well in anything.”
Yang Yi nodded and said, “That’s right, it’s exactly that.
How do I train?”
Danny spoke slowly, “We all have things to do, so we can only take turns training you.
Today it’s Ah Ming and Ah Jiang.
In the morning, Ah Ming will take you for a physical test to find out your base level, and by the afternoon, you’ll start physical training mixed with combat.
These are only basic exercises, but it’s essential to get the foundations right.”
Yang Yi nodded again and again, saying, “Thank you, captain.
So, how long do you think I’ll take to get trained?”
Danny looked up at Yang Yi, pondered for a moment, and then said solemnly, “If you’re quick, three years.
In three years, you’ll achieve something.
It should be enough for you to handle some minor situations on your own.”
Yang Yi, who was drinking his porridge, almost bit his tongue, then he asked in surprise, “Three years?”
Danny looked at Yang Yi with an unfazed expression and said, “One should never stop learning throughout life.
You aim to be a spy.
For a spy, there are just too many skills to master.
Three years is just a start, take it slow, these things can’t be rushed.”
Yang Yi was starting to worry, feeling that three years was indeed far too long.
Just at that moment, Ye Ming pushed open the door of the restaurant and walked in, unceremoniously taking a seat at the table, scooped himself a bowl of porridge, and immediately started slurping it down.
“Eat up quick, and after that, we warm up.
We have lots to do this morning.”
Having assumed the role of a master from the get-go, Ye Ming wolfed down his breakfast, while Yang Yi had only just finished a bowl of porridge.
“Why so slow?
Too slow, hurry up, hurry!”
Urged by Ye Ming, Yang Yi wolfed down his breakfast; however, Ye Ming was still not satisfied.
“Slow!
Way too slow!
Everything needs to be fast, eating included, had it been back in our day, you wouldn’t have gotten a bite!”
Ye Ming was clearly dissatisfied, but Danny frowned and said, “Ah Ming!
What are you talking about?
Can’t you see I’m eating?
I’m on a diet here, and now you’ve made me want to eat another bowl.”
Ye Ming chuckled, “Lose weight?
Forget it.
Take your time eating; I’ll take him and head off.”
Standing up, Ye Ming then delivered a kick to the promptly standing Yang Yi’s buttocks, shouting, “What are you dawdling for?
Let’s go!”
In all fairness, Yang Yi was already going pretty fast.
Danny acted as if he saw nothing, and Yang Yi hurriedly followed Ye Ming toward the restaurant’s exit.
Once they reached the door, Ye Ming looked around before swiftly hopping onto a small motorcycle and said to Yang Yi, “You run after me.
When I stop, you stop.”
Yang Yi was a bit stunned and said, “We’re starting now?
But isn’t it bad to engage in intense exercise right after eating?”
Ye Ming glanced at Yang Yi and frowned, “Are you teaching me, or am I teaching you?”
“You’re teaching me.
Well, I’ll run then, Brother Ming…”
“Stop, don’t try to cozy up to me.
Listen, you run as fast as I do.
If you fall more than ten meters behind me, you’ll have me to answer to.
If you lag too far and can’t keep up, and end up not knowing where I’ve gone, then don’t blame me for not caring about you.
And just so you know, this area isn’t our turf, it’s entirely possible for the Destroyer to take a shot at you if he sees the chance.
Now run!”
Kicking off the scooter, Ye Ming started to ride away, and Yang Yi had no choice but to quickly run after him.
The training began just like that, officially underway, with no chance for Yang Yi to adjust.
In the beginning, Ye Ming rode at a manageable pace, but after a leisurely ten minutes—which had already got Yang Yi panting slightly—Ye Ming suddenly picked up speed.
Yang Yi had to run with all his might, otherwise, he would not only be left ten meters behind, but he was very likely to be completely lost as well.
After running full-speed for a few minutes, Yang Yi felt as if there was a fire burning in his lungs and his legs felt as if they had been filled with lead.
He simply couldn’t run anymore; even if an agent of the Destroyer had been right next to him at that moment, Yang Yi wouldn’t have been able to keep running, but luckily, Ye Ming mercifully slowed down.
“We haven’t even run that far, and you’re panting like a dog already…”
Yang Yi cooperated by sticking out his tongue and propping himself up on his knees, panting hard, although he immediately closed his mouth after hearing Ye Ming’s scolding.
Ye Ming shook his head, looking at Yang Yi with a helpless expression, “Sigh, weakling.
When I was your age, I could run ten kilometers in one go without the slightest need for rest.
But fine, for a beginner, this is all you’ve got.
Just follow me slowly, and don’t stop!”
