Spy-x-War Showdown-Chapter 73 - 72 Weapons
73: Chapter 72 Weapons
73 -72 Weapons
At breakfast time, Yang Yi habitually glanced at the spot where the Boxing King and his crew usually sat.
The Boxing King had not shown up yet, but his underlings were looking at Yang Yi with an increasingly arrogant demeanor.
In the past few days, the Boxing King’s men would not dare look at Yang Yi like that, even though they outnumbered him and seemed more formidable; when they looked at Yang Yi, they used to conceal the ferocity in their eyes, but now, there was no hiding their murderous intent when they eyed him.
Indeed, things had gotten complicated; it seemed that the Boxing King was not only waiting for revenge but had evidently spread the word, emboldening his minions once again.
Prison is a place that respects strength; if you’re tough, others fear you, and winning fights helps maintain status.
But losing, especially to a young man who doesn’t look particularly big or strong, endangered the Boxing King’s position.
So to keep his status, the Boxing King had to teach Yang Yi a lesson, the severe way would be to kill him, the light way would be to beat him half to death; either way, letting bygones be bygones was out of the question, and Yang Yi guessed that the only choice for the Boxing King would be to kill him rather than just give him a beating.
After finishing his breakfast calmly, this time Yang Yi did not go out for exercise, nor did he return to his cell; instead, he put on a jumpsuit and prepared to clean up garbage with Chris.
The inmates allowed to work were those with short remaining sentences, meaning they would soon be released.
Since they were about to be released, the likelihood of accidents happening while working was greatly reduced.
Therefore, there were no guards watching over the inmates while they worked.
That meant Yang Yi could carry out what he wanted to do without supervision from the guards.
Sanitization and tidying up utensils were the janitors’ jobs; Yang Yi didn’t need to clean.
His job was to sort the trash with Chris and then either burn it or bury it.
But nobody bothered to sort the trash; their method was simple: anything that wasn’t a stone, something that genuinely couldn’t be burned, went straight into the furnace.
With thousands of inmates and numerous guards, the prison produced a significant amount of trash daily.
The garbage incinerator could serve as a supplementary heat source for the prison, such as heating water for inmates to bathe.
Pelican Bay Prison’s incinerator was indeed an official one, but the dust removal and desulfurization devices for purifying exhaust gases had long been broken, and the smoke simply billowed out of the chimney.
Yang Yi didn’t care about polluting the atmosphere; he wasn’t there to manage waste just for work opportunities or a chance to shower.
Chris threw a bag of trash into the feeder, which went through preliminary shredding before being sprayed with kerosene and sent into the furnace.
Chris had yet to light it when Yang Yi opened one black trash bag after another, peeked inside, then continued to open more.
As the bags were opened, trash could spill when tossed into the feeder, and Chris had to clean it up, so he was somewhat unhappy, shouting, “Hey, what are you doing?
There’s no need to open them; just throw them in and burn them.”
Ignoring Chris, Yang Yi opened another bag, and finally found what he was looking for.
Gazing at a bag full of drink bottles, Yang Yi couldn’t help but whistle, then he said to Chris with a smile, “Snitches don’t survive in prison, right?”
Chris was taken aback for a moment, then quietly asked, “What are you planning to do?”
Yang Yi shrugged his shoulders and then continued to search through the trash bags piled up throughout the entire processing station for the items he needed.
A branch had pierced through a trash bag, protruding a long section.
It caught the exploring Yang Yi’s eye, and he immediately opened the trash bag with the branch, taking out all the branches that still had leaves on them.
Chris was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, “You’re looking for materials to make weapons, aren’t you?”
Yang Yi smiled and replied, “Yes.”
Yang Yi had picked up more than ten branches, but the thickest of them was only as thick as a forefinger, and the thinnest were no thicker than chopsticks.
Chris took a glance and couldn’t help saying, “These branches won’t work, you’re just wasting your energy.
They’re too soft and brittle, you can’t sharpen them into weapons.”
Just smiling, Yang Yi did not explain Chris’s doubt, and Chris, seeing Yang Yi continue to search, couldn’t help saying, “You don’t need to waste your energies, there’s no way metal suitable for making weapons is brought in here.”
Yang Yi indeed had not found the metal container he needed.
He straightened up and frowned, “I need a metal can, or a dish, do you have anything like that?”
Chris’s eyes couldn’t help but fall on a square metal dish, but he immediately said, “No!
Absolutely not, the work here is subject to inspection.
If you steal tools, we’re all done for!”
Yang Yi’s gaze landed on the wall not far from the incinerator, where a few tools were leaning, including a long iron rod used to turn the burning trash, as well as two shovel-like objects for cleaning the furnace chamber, one of which was quite large and looked like a square-mouthed iron spade.
To reach into the furnace and turn the burning waste, wooden-handled tools definitely wouldn’t do, so the shovel handles were also made of iron.
Seeing the two iron shovels, Yang Yi took a breath and smiled, “With these, it will be fine, it’s enough.”
Chris said anxiously, “No!
Absolutely not!
You can’t possibly take the tools out, if you must take them out, then I, I…”
Yang Yi waved his hand and smiled, “Don’t worry, I’m not stupid enough to take the tools out from here.
Alright, you continue your work, I’ll do my own thing.
I’m sorry you have to do my work too, but rest assured, I won’t get you involved.”
Finally, Yang Yi found two potato chip tubes, the kind made of paper to hold potato chips.
Seeing the potato chip containers, Yang Yi couldn’t help but cheer, and then he said to Chris, “Alright, I’ve found what I need.”
Looking at the pile of items Yang Yi had laid out next to him, Chris couldn’t help asking, “What are you going to do?
How will you do it?”
Yang Yi shrugged his shoulders and then picked up a drink bottle and smiled, “Just this.”
Chris couldn’t help asking, “A drink bottle?
What can that do?”
Yang Yi shook his head with a smile and said, “This is PE, polyethylene.
Who says weapons have to be made of metal?
Since a toothbrush handle can be sharpened to stab someone, then of course a drink bottle can too.”
Chris’s eyes widened as he exclaimed, “How can you stab someone with a drink bottle?
I get it!
You’re going to melt the drink bottle!”
Yang Yi nodded and said, “Smart, I’m curious, has nobody thought of this method before?”
