Chapter 32 - Find that Blood God!

As soon as the boss went down, the system announcements flashed boldly in front of every player's interface. Not just in Niera City, but across every city, every beginner village, every kingdom, and every continent. Across the entire world of Earth Online, golden-bordered text lit up the screens of millions.

[Ding! Server-Wide Announcement: Player Blood God has slain the World Boss: Malakar, Reaper of Fields!]

[Ding! Hidden Event Chain Completed! Global Corruption Rate Decreased by 2%.]

[Ding! First World Boss Kill (Solo) Achieved! Rewards Distributed.]

The reaction was instant. The crowd exploded in chaos.

"WHO THE HELL IS BLOOD GOD?!"

"Blood God?! What kind of edgy-ass name is that???"

"Day 2?! That's not possible!"

"What kind of freak solos a world boss at level ten?!"

"Please tell me this guy's hacking."

"Solo'd a world boss with a rusted knife while in starting gear??? Nah man, this has to be a dev."

Global chat exploded. Forums crashed under traffic. Livestreamers screamed into their mics. Top guilds across every continent paused their power-leveling and immediately scheduled emergency meetings.

Meanwhile, back in Niera City's desecrated plaza, the few surviving players stared in stunned silence. The ground was still cracked and smoking. The scent of death hadn't even faded yet. They had witnessed something unreal.

So many players had died in seconds... yet one man, in basic gear, had turned the tide alone.

Aurora stood amid her shaken party, her emerald eyes locked on the spot where the monster had fallen. Her lips moved almost soundlessly.

"Blood God..." she repeated. "So that's his name."

One of her paladins hesitated beside her. "Should we try and recruit him to the guild?"

But Aurora didn't respond right away. Her gaze was cold, calculating. Then, she slowly turned toward her party. "Why are we here?"

"For the priest-class bounty quest," someone answered.

"Exactly." She pointed toward the battlefield. "There's a hidden player out there—someone who defiled the Holy Awakening Pool. The quest is to find them. Now... what are the chances that this guy is the one we're looking for?"

Her teammates went still.

"The Blood God?" the paladin muttered. "You really think he's the defiler?"

Aurora didn't need to answer. The timing. The cloaked identity. The ridiculous power spike. The rusted dagger. It all made perfect, terrifying sense.

She turned on her heel and broke into a run. "We're not recruiting him," she said, voice like steel. "We're hunting him." Her party scrambled after her, their steps echoing through the cracked stones of the plaza, running to catch the famous 'Blood God' who fell right into their laps.

And it did not look like just their group. Several people dashed towards the utterly destroyed part of the city to get their hands on the so-called Blood God.

All across Niera City, players were breaking into full sprints—some toward the scene to investigate, others away from it out of fear that the boss might return or that something even worse was about to happen.

Dozens of guild scouts were already arriving on the scene, spamming screenshots, voice chats, and location pings. The shattered plaza had become a magnetic beacon of attention.

However, amidst all of this commotion and chaos, the actual MVP of the day was conveniently missing.

"Find that Blood God!"

"He's gotta still be nearby!"

"Track everyone who's leaving the city—NOW!"

Aurora's party was ahead of the curve. Already several blocks away, her eyes scanned rooftops and alleyways like a hawk locked on prey. "He won't get far," she murmured.

Behind her, her vice-leader frowned. "He soloed a world boss and walked away without a scratch. You sure about that?"

Aurora did not answer. She clenched her fists in frustration. That guy was the only thing standing between her and a legendary class. She could feel it. If she could just catch that guy and hand him over to the divine temple, she would instantly skyrocket to the top of the game.

"Damn it. Where are you?" She gritted her teeth in frustration and continued looking around, unwilling to simply give up. Others might not know, but there was a lot riding on her performance in this game. She absolutely cannot fail.

While all the players in the vicinity continued to scour through the city to get their hands on the lottery ticket called Blood God, several kilometers away, Damon sat atop a jagged rock, legs crossed, the rusted dagger resting on his knee.

He watched the golden glow of the global announcement fade from the corner of his interface with a big grin on his face.

While the others were searching for him in the city, Damon used the last couple of seconds of the dagger's power to get the hell out of there. Even before the boss was completely dead, he bolted out of the city and arrived here safely.

"You are so shameless!" Bloodreign chimed in.

"And?" Damon chuckled.

"I love it!" The woman's voice in his head purred with delight. "You used such a nasty little shortcut to spill so much holy blood. I absolutely love it. Too bad we couldn't drink any of it."

"In time," Damon said, lazily leaning back against a boulder. Using such power comes with a price, and he was feeling extremely tired and exhausted at the moment. But he did not care.

He got what he wanted. He tossed the worthless dagger aside and checked the system notifications, clicking on the one he was looking forward to the most.

Damon quickly went through the rewards one after the other. Every single thing listed was good, and 100 gold coins on day 2 of the game was absolutely crazy, not to mention the Blood Manipulation skill book.

Vampires only acquired the Blood Manipulation skill book after they took their tier 3 promotion test. But it looked like he already got it.

However, these things were still not the ones Damon was after. His gaze quickly fell on the last and final item in the list of rewards. Bingo! He got what he wanted.
